“I know a lot of you may be wondering why I used such extremes measures on you last time, disrespecting and disregarding your public status and honors. Well, I must admit that it wasn’t easy subjecting you all to such treatment but I wanted to use that medium to make everyone of us understand that no one is bigger than the integrity and glory of this unique kingdom so any attempt to tread upon the glory of this kingdom with scorn will be greeted with measures as strict as the one that was meted out last time. So be it in any gathering be it small, great, insignificant or not, not minding who or what that are gathered, as far as it has something to do with Onyx then there must be utter orderliness and respect of proceedings in it. Nothing less than total respect for the city of lights” King Stylx said as he walked across the courtroom before gradually taking his seat on the throne of fire. All the council men remained standing as he spoke and only took their seats after voicing in affirmative to what their king has said. The true sense of remorse and regret could be felt in the silent and ordered hall. “Now what are the pressing issues on ground?” The king asked as noises started to fill the room but this time around had strict decorum
The glorious Onyx choir sang beautifully as guests started to arrive in the mighty hall of flames, it was the wedding ceremony of the army general second daughter. Onyx came alive as everywhere looked neat and decorated. The Starlights adorned themselves with attires befitting of royalty after all there was no poor person in Onyx. Chariots and carriages alighted as numbers went into the sacred meeting point that had hosted the ordination of council men, installation of Weoss intermediaries and the crowning of the first human king of Onyx. The hall was an icon of reverence and love for the starlights, no wonder the wedding of the number one security personnel in the kingdom’s daughter was accorded its hosting. Soon King Stylx arrived in company of Nephla and his knights of stars as they alighted from a heavily guarded entourage, a loud and healthy noise greeted the arrival of the king as our the guards and soldiers on duty immediately took their positions to shield the king from the crowd that were pushing and shoving to get a glimpse and touch of their beloved king who had been a driving force in the recent rise of Onyx. King Stylx was full of smiles as Nephla as they tried their best to hug, shake, touch and kiss some of the people who gathered to greet them. Soon they were ushered into the hall where all those expected were already present, they all stood as the king and his wife walked in, they finally sat as the king greeted them and took his seat. The priest took over as the couple took their vows and where about to take their vows when the bride was hit with an arrow. The whole gathering scattered as King Stylx, his knights of stars and the soldiers around all drew their swords. Nephla and the bride’s mother swiftly ran towards the bleeding lady as the groom held her in shock. A knight sighted the absconding hooded assassin as he made away with his bow and quiver. A squadron of soldiers were soon on his trail. The assassin was very familiar with the terrains of the place as he kept away from the main roads but kept his race on corners, cuts and holes. Soon the chasing party lost him as he simply vanished
A dusk to dawn curfew was imposed on Onyx by King Stylx as house to house search was done, no one was allowed into the city as soldiers littered the streets. Pictures of the hooded assassin was pasted on all the nooks and crannies of the city as bounties upon bounties was placed on his capture. The army general and his family were in deep mourning. The groom committed suicide after his bride died in his arms two days after the incident, the pain of losing the love of his life on the day that they were to be joined together for life was unbearable so he fell to his sword just beside where his love was buried. Onyx was in no mood to be excited as this was the only recent crime recorded in the city after the tyrant reign of Gogla and his Aarangs. Onyx has always known peace before that faithful day, everyone remained indoors with fear of the unknown. The once busy streets of Onyx became deserted. King Stylx paced restlessly in the royal courtroom where he went to think, this caught him fully unawares and has him confused. Why would anyone try to hurt an innocent girl on her day of joy, they haven’t been in any war or conflict with any of the neighbouring kingdoms for such an attack to be pointed to them so whosoever perpretrated the hit must surely be an insider, he thought to himself as he made to pour himself a drink but quickly remembered Weoss instruction on abstinence from drinks in times of thinking and decision making. He went back to the royal chambers and met Nephla asleep, it hasn’t been easy for her these days too as she had to represent Stylx in all the mourning events the city and family held in remembrance of the two tragic deaths. He sat beside her and gently stroked her hair, he shifted his gaze to her tummy as he became worried of his unborn child considering the recent stress that Nephla has been through, as he was about to dwell on his next thought, Nephla gentle grip made him realize that she was awake. He adjusted his sitting as she rose up and sat beside him. My love, the answer to this riddle of death that happened is tied to the recent action you took towards the councilmen. King Stylx nodded in affirmation as he brought her into his arms. This was one of the winning strategies that Weoss had thought him, trusting the counsel of the one who truly loves him. He kissed her forehead and held her tighter
The council men got the shock of their lives when king Stylx told them that the sender of the killer was among them in the courtroom after summoning them that morning. “Is he trying to humiliate like he did before, has our King gone mad again, don’t he respect or trust us again?” were some of the murmurs that could be heard in the courtroom. They became more shocked and even scared when he told them that he already knows who the person was and would be executed the next this in front of the Starlights. He told them to go home and that the next day the culprit will be visited by his knights and will be made to face the wrath of the law and people. He walked away without explaining further to the confused courtroom. As they went back to their quarters in the province, they could see the stage for the public crucifixion being erected close to the gates, most swallowed hard hoping that they wont be picked up on mere assumptions and executed as the king has spoken of. Soon the rumours of the intended public execution went round as the city eagerly awaited the break of dawn to see the devil who instructed the carrying out of such an evil action. Pebbles and trash was already being packed to enable everyone have a throw at the culprit who has decided to bring shame to himself and disgrace to his position. Tongues began to wag that it was because the person loved the bride and wanted her for himself, others said the groom or his family might have stepped on the person’s toes, different news surrounding the reason for the act filled the streets, no one wanted to be left out in the story conjuring.
The D day arrived to the terror of the councilmen and the joy and eagerness of the city, some of the councilmen had already put their house in order and given their household their last words. In each of the houses in the councilmen province, there was an unusual hush as most of them stayed in expectation with their wives and kids, soft tears and whispers were the only sounds. Soon the heavy galloping of the knights horses came, the tension in the houses increased as all of their guards were taken off the previous days. Some of the councilmen started to proceed out and walk towards the incoming knights. The knights hurriedly came down their houses and picked the helpless and defenseless elders who looked at their wailing and crying families with looks of fright and terror. Out of the two hundred and forty councilmen, one was missing, according to his household, no one knows about his whereabout
The panting councilman panted heavily as he made through the dungeons of the river that flowed out of Onyx to other kingdoms in the Sunero. He knew that by now, his absconding would have already been noticed by the knights and a search for him would have already begun so any delay could enhance his recapturing. He felt really bad about the action he was taking and wished he could just turn himself in to the King but knowing fully well about the consequences of such act made him shrug off the thoughts and hastened up his weakening pace. He had to get to the outside of the walls before its mouth is cordoned off by the guards of Onyx.King Stylx was shocked when he got the news of the absconding councilman, of all the people he suspected, he was the last person to come to his mind. Why would he arrange a hit man to go after his army general daughter on her wedding day, why kill the innocent child for a grudge with the father based on an action he instructed the man to carr
“Why would he carry out such barbaric act against we the councilmen even if he got orders from the king, you should have said no. Have his men strip us and whip our backs to sore is simply unforgiveable? Walyx complained bitterly to Caglx as they walked towards their first council meeting after King Stlyx recalled them from suspension. “True but we had it coming, the king had always expressed his displeasure about lack of decorum in the court house, he practically had to beg us last time on it but yet we disregarded his pleas and made mockery of his warnings so we kind of had it coming” Caglx replied as he tried to defend the king’s actions knowing fully well how Walyx had always shown his displeasure towards King Stylx. Walyx gave Caglx the wicked look, hissed and walked away. “Hope you will be coming over to my place later tonight with your family, my wife is making a special meal tonight?”, Caglx shouted at him as he hurried into the courtroom.
Nephla walked slowly into the woods as she needed to clear her head, being the queen of Onyx wasn’t something regular for her and she felt anxious on how her leadership was going to be. She knew that Stylx was going to really need her services and there was no room for any mistake as that will spell issue not just for her and Stylx but the whole of Onyx, something that was sure to have huge consequences. She felt tired of walking and decided to rest on a rock, there was no aid as she had stopped her escorts from following her as she walked into the woods. Just then she was lost in thoughts and unknowingly slept off.Caglx was threading in the woods, he had a heated argument with his wife and decided to walk out so as to avoid making it physical, he murmured as he kept kicking stuffs on his path. He knew he was at fault but couldn’t bring himself to apologize to his wife. He knew he was in the urge for intimacy and the way he could rightfully get it w
Deep smokes emerges from the city of light as Onyx lies in ruins. The sky is darkened as the inferno rages on. The Aarangs are having a filled day as they cut through every starlight soldier that stood on their way. Women and children scampered for safety as they were not left out of the onslaught. The once heavily guarded kingdom was now at the mercy of Gogla and his demons. Bodies littered the once beautiful street as more and more fell to the swords of the invading army. If only the people of Onyx had listened, if only they heeded the warnings of Jalib, the seer but now it was too late for any form of hearkening"Weoss is warning, He will soon depart, return to Him all ye people of starlights. He is not happy, He needs you all to come back to him in repentance" The shabbily dressed Jalib cried out on the streets of Onyx as he moved from one point to another on each busy pathway. Women laughed at him and mocked him, children threw dirt and rotten food items at him, even the men shook
All the seven nations were still in shock over the calamity that befell the starlights, you could hear the whispers of it at every meeting point or place around the densely populated kingdoms. The nation that every one thought were unconquerable has to flee from their homes to God knows where. This single incidence sent out a strong note of what Gogla is capable of and somehow the lethargic side of Weoss abandoning his own to the mercies of the gruesome tyrant. All nations were on red alert as no one was sure of what happens next since Gogla was in charge of the supreme authority now.Stumbling upon some rocky paths, the exhausted kid crashed on the ground unconscious. Elderly women rushed over to where the pale looking face girl laid, "We can't continue walking great Eeries, the kids are exhausted so are the mothers, if we keep on moving, soon we will have more casualties due to exhaustion, please let us kindly pitch our tent here" one of the women begged with some form of pa
"It doesn't matter how many starlights are remaining because I Gogla won't stop until I have crushed everyone of them" the gigantic reptile told Jalib as he visited the dungeon that evening to mock his captives that included the seer Jalib. Jalib turned his back at him all through the conversation, he cried silently as soon as Gogla left. For some reason best known to him, the reptile has decided to keep him alive, if it was to torture him or make him suffer mockery of how helpless his nation has become, he certainly was getting what he wanted. The old man looked up to ceiling of the dungeon as painfully said "Weoss, for how long?"Just as feared by the seven nations, threat letters were issued to them by Gogla. In the letters, he ordered them to surrender to his government and come to pledge their allegiances to hin in Onyx. Panic was spreading faster and becoming real, no one dared stepped out of the kingdom for fear of the unknown, watchmen were constantly on the lookout. E
The warning bells of the iced dungeon in Onyx rung repeatedly, the Aarang soldiers immediately made for the place of the distress call. Gogla jumped down from his throne, transforming into his beast form, he immediately made for the dungeon as well. "Who dared come near his captives stronghold, whosoever that is must pay direly for it not only with his life but also with his soul", he thought aloud to himself as he increased his quick strides. The prison was already surrounded by the demons as Gogla reached there, whosoever that was inside there was certainly dead for sure because there was no way such a person could think of manuevering his way through the party that stayed outside the dungeon because of him. Gogla was getting impatient as he paced around the entrance of the dungeon, no movement or soumd were heard inside the place. The doors were still firmly locked to the surprise of the Aarangs, how did the person get in was the question on the lips of the soldiers but whosoever
"You nearly got the old man killed, what were you thinking pushing him into the icy waters unprepared?" King Riub yelled at the mercenary who simply continued to munch on his apple pretending not to hear what the king just said. "If he doesn't survive Kylem, I will give you the most painful death that can never be imagined" The King yelled further as he prepared to go to the healer's hut where Jalib was reported to be lying unconscious. "So that's the thank you I get for risking my life to get you your ugly looking grand pa, I am deeply hurt" Kylem said mockingly as he held his heart and pretended to be sobbing. King Riub wasn't interested in the little acting that the lanky figure was putting up. He knew all the labours of rescuing Jalib from Gogla's hands would be in vain if the old man gave up the ghostGogla was having a hard time believing that Jalib had been taken from right under his nose. He ordered that the head of the prison guard be brought to him and in the presen
