Slayers license

The sky was an expanse of sapphire blue, dotted with feathery white clouds as the radiant rays of the sun shone brightly in the azure blue sky and a gust of wind hit our faces in this breezy morning.

Sylvia and I were standing outside the Slayers Association's headquarters.

The Slayers Association had been around for almost ten years. The Slayers initially banded together, formed their own guilds, and began combating the creatures and monsters, but as time passed and the humans began to regain their footing, a great deal of Chaos broke out inside the human realm.

The majority of the Slayer Guilds were conceited and wanted to keep everything for themselves; the other groups naturally objected and began to protest, which is how human infighting began.

Without any laws and regulations, and no one to regulate and keep everyone in check, guild battles became widespread and began to occur on a regular basis.

That is when some of the most powerful Slayers of the period united together and formed the Slayers Association in collaboration with the government.

The Slayers Association governs all Slayers, Guilds, and their operations across all five continents, and although it is run by the respective governments, the government does not have sole authority to make decisions.

The Slayers Association has a somewhat lax system in which the top Slayers and the government make decisions based on a majority vote, and occasionally even some of the top guils are also invited to express their opinions and give votes.

However, this system also helps it to regulate more effectively and efficiently as no party is able to make decisions in their own favour and because of the constant threats from monsters. People in positions of authority typically have to make quick decisions so that the best actions can be taken as quickly as possible. This is because, like the majority of people, they cannot afford to waste time debating one another.

Thus, there is minimal room for factionalism and corruption.

Holding Sylvia's hand and entering the massive 100-meter-tall structure through the automatic glass doors, I saw a large reception, a hall with beautiful sofas on the left and numerous screens on their sides playing news and other programmes for the people waiting there.

" Wow! " Sylvia exclaimed when she saw the magnificent interior of the building, which was like a piece of art.

" Isn't it lovely? " I enquired.

Sylvia nodded her head quickly, which made me chuckle.

We moved to the right side, where two attractive ladies in business suits were working behind the reception counter.

"Welcome! How can we assist you?" When they noticed us, the receptionists bowed politely and professionally.

" We'd both like to obtain our official Slayer's licence."

"All right "

She replied, pulling two papers from the side drawer and placing them in front of us.

"Please fill out this form and pay the charges. The next group of tests for Slayers will begin in 20 minutes; if you wish, you may wait in the lounge on the left; we will notify you via the contact information you enter when it is your turn"

She explained everything before returning to her work

It was amusing how the receptionist acted like an NPC there, but it's also natural, given that they have a lot of work to do every day and a large number of people come to receive their official Slayers licence.

Furthermore, the majority of those who arrive here did not even receive a possible appraisal of above D rank. So meeting two new folks like us was nothing special.

Filling out the form and giving it to the receptionist with 2000 primo coins, which was the charge for two people, Sylvia and I went to wait on a sofa in the waiting lounge, while eating ice cream for which we had to pay.

There were several other people waiting in like us.

Sylvia and my phone both rang 20 minutes later, and we both stood up and proceeded to the examination room stated on the form, we just filled out.

Sylvia and I shared a room with 18 other folks, taking the same basic examination. I already knew the contents of these written tests from my previous life, and it was practically nothing but some fundamental topics a Slayer should be aware of; it wasn't designed to evaluate someone, but to filter out psychos or kids who came to become a slayer without even knowing the A,B,C,D.

After finishing the test and waiting for 5 minutes in the same room, we received our result of a successful pass.

Following that, everyone who had cleared with us was directed to another hall where they would verify our current and maximum body talent Rank.

" Sylvia! congratulations " I patted Sylvia's head as everyone started making their way towards the testing room.

"Hehehe, it was easy as pie." She was acting cute, as she giggled like a child.

She was basically saying, 'Praise me more.'

She was acting like a grown up kid, which is what I love most about her.

"Well, our Sylvia worked hard, so it was very obvious that such a test would be easy," I also gave her what she asked and praised her more, to let her be happy as much as she want, for she had worked hard the past days.

The main test, however, was not this one, but the academy one. Sylvia was going to have a tough time finishing that entrance exam.

When we arrived at the testing area, we saw a large room with a fancy looking machine in the centre that looked like a hibernation pod and desks on both sides of it, behind which two male and female workers were seated, making new Slayers licences and updating the old ones.

When a slayer's rank increases, he or she can visit here for free to update the information on their licence.

There were numerous benefits for becoming a higher rank slayer, and most people would opt to update their records as soon as they levelled up, with the exception of some psychos.

They would purposely obtain a lower rank on their slayers licence and join a team of Slayers with a lower rank in order to carry out a mission of subjugation, which would typically result in the team being completely destroyed by the same psycho.

Because of those psychos, the government devised a ranking system for the Slayer's official website.

Where every slayer and their teams are rated by other slayers to ensure that no crime occurs.

However, Exceptions were always present, as after venturing into the wilderness, one could only rely on oneself.

People in front of us began to enter the pod one by one, where their bodies were scanned to determine their accurate statistics.

Although some drugs could be used to intentionally lower one's potential rank, the number of people who do so is literally minuscule.

There was no merit in doing so; at best, someone might strive to decrease their existing rank for criminal acts, but lowering one's potential rank would have no benefit.

Instead, the individual would simply be losing the privileges that would come with a higher potential rank.

" System, Temporarily lower Sylvia's potential to Rank A for an hour, my potential to S and my current rank to E."

Commanding in my mind I stood silently in line, waiting for my turn. I had my own plans for future and I didn't want to be treated as some superstar because of my exceptionally fast growth.

I don't want the people I care about to get in any trouble because of me

My last life already gave me a lesson and I don't want to repeat the same mistake again.

Reading the System prompts, I walked up to the pod as it was my turn now.

Even though I filled it in my form to keep my potential rank hidden, but I know that once my rank is evaluated, the news of a potential rank S would be circulated to various big guilds, organisation and especially the AURA Academy.

I purposefully went ahead of Sylvia because once I got my rank, no one would try to focus much on a rank A like Sylvia, because although rank A was quite a good rank, but the number of people with potential as a rank S was so little that it was like seeing an already extinct species.

They were the People who have the potential to become the greatest powerhouses of humanity in future.

However, if i would have let Sylvia go first, the people inside would have already circulated her news before I could go to evaluate mine, but now they would be too busy with me to focus on her.

Getting in the pod a small needle was poked in one of my finger and a lazer started scanning my whole body without me having to do anything.

After a few minutes of scanning I was finally out of the pod and walked towards the desk where the workers were already standing with a surprised look on their faces.

And, even though the people waiting for their turn to get a Slayers license with Sylvia Didn't know what rank I got, but from the looks of Workers even they were able to tell that I got an exceptionally high rank.

~Sigh!

' so much for the privacy ' I sighed inwardly and shook my head, these workers needs to learn how to better control their expressions.

" Hello! Mr. Noah, we from the Slayers Association congratulate you on your evaluation as a potential Rank S. Here's your Slayers license, You will understand after watching it yourself. "

The Association members happily gave me my license, it was a good news for them as well, as they would receive their own commissions from different sources for selling my information.

'humph' I scowled inside my head, but still outwardly said a polite " Thank you" and watched the two License Cards that were given to me.

One was for myself where my potential rank and full specifications were mentioned and the other was for using in public, in which only my basic information and current rank were mentioned.
