Kelly is at home; he cannot go outside because of his physical condition. People would stare at his arm sling and bandage and ask a lot of nosey questions.

"I told you that your father has to mend his impure and dubious ways if he wants true success in his business endeavors, didn't I?" Lorraine is asking her son Kelly, with a tone akin to confirming hopelessness for the situation, after seeing the shameful live performance of her middle-aged, balding ex-husband.

Kelly finds the situation so uncontainable that he can't find any words to reply to his mother on the spot. Worse still, he is overwhelmed with defeat, having lost the glory that Christopher had earned.
