"Ok.kk...ay you.. mean the limo outside?"

"Yes, exactly. I mean the limousine outside. How much is it?".

"Oh, you mean that? It's just seventy-five billion dollars. Not much, right?" The sales guy adds with a squint and a silly grin on his face.

"Give me your invoice; my bank manager will pay today. You will send the limo and the receipt to this address tomorrow morning at seven thirty am, unfailingly." Christopher says in a simplistic tone that, pulling out a small piece of paper and his fountain pen from his coat's chest pocket,he writes the address of his new luxury home, his email address, and his phone number on the paper and gives it to the sales guy.

"Wow, that's a good move, sir. I will send the invoice to your email right away." The sales guy passes the paper to a male receptionist, who together had been looking on and only winking in surprise, as Mr. Gabriel once did again at the mention of the limo and its cost in the course of Christopher's and the sales guy's conversation

The salesman looks straight at the two men and says, "The price for the car is four million dollars, sir."."What!" Mr. Gabriel exclaims. He is confused about why his friend is requesting such an expensive car."But isn't that a bit too much?" Mr. Gabriel asks Christopher.Christopher gives a brief nod to his friend, Mr. Gabriel."We are not here to joke. If you don't have the required funds to pay for the car, please give me a minute to attend to other customers," the car salesman says, his expression and tone signifying that he is not in the mood for any more jokes from the two men."No, don't go anywhere," Christopher tells him, his voice now taking on a more serious and authoritative tone. The salesman recognizes this change of tone and straightens his stance."Alright, are you ready to purchase this car today, sir?" He asks Christopher."Yes,we are here to purchase the car right now.""Do you have the required fund with you right now?" The salesman asks in a tone that betrays a littl

CHAPTER 60 Christopher had organized a mini-party after the success of the proposal. It was amazing the heights he had achieved over the past few months, and he knew there was no stopping. He was engrossed on his phone while the music kept blasting on the speaker until he heard it was time to give a toast. The party was relatively small, and although he had wanted something bigger, the issue of his rivals seemingly discovering this location had kept him at bay. "Let's make a toast!" He mentioned grabbing a bottle of wine. "A toast to the huge success of the proposal." Everyone raised their cups, and while he was about to speak further, he noticed Sam waving in his direction, obviously instructing him about something. He handed the bottle to someone else and walked up to meet Sam, who was at the door. "I just got some information." Sam stated it out loud. "What is it?" He asked. "I think we have got company!" Right before Christopher could comprehend what was happening, the door burst

“The maid told me that you haven’t been touching your food. Do you want to die?” Lawrence asked his gaze in the direction of the food.“Death is more pleasurable at this point than living.” Mira replied with ease.Lawrence realized that she seemed to have given up, and at this point, a mere killing of Mira would simply be in her favor. He didn’t want to kill Mira; he wanted Mira to suffer so much pain.“You really think I am going to persuade you to eat your food? If you starve to death, it is your choice.” Lawrence finished off and left the dungeon afterwards.Once Lawrence was out of sight, Mira realized that he didn’t have human sympathy. It was slowly beginning to appear to her that Lawrence would be the first person to celebrate her death. At first, Mira believed that death would be the ultimate price for all her suffering, but she refused that option when she realized that she had every reason to live. Mira knew that she wasn’t going to die and allowed her abductor to be gratefu

With the knowledge that Christopher would possibly be in the car while the soldiers waited for the flight, Mira knew she needed to find a means to get Christopher out of that place. Her only obstacle was how to get the soldiers out of Christopher.Mira couldn’t stand against any of them; she was small, and they were almost twice her size. Mira realized that there was only one means, and that was creating a diversion, which would most likely attract the attention of the soldiers. She checked around the airport for any possible means to create the diversion when she noticed diesels stacked from afar in one of the stores that were opened. All Mira needed to do was obtain a single keg of diesel. She maneuvered her way out of the building, not allowing anyone to notice her until she came to the store. Mira made sure to check around for anyone who would most likely come, but there was no one in sight, and she quickly pulled one of the diesels and walked out of the store.Mira made her way o

What is the problem?” Mr. Walter asked.“I am in danger.” Christopher revealed.“Don’t you worry; ensure your phone is still on. I will have the boys track your location and would ensure that you are back here safely. Just hold on.” Mr. Walter announced.“Dad, I am in Lawrence ’s danger….” Christopher indicated, but it was too late as his friend had already hanged up.While Christopher and Mira waited for the entourage to arrive, a knock came through Christopher ’s car window and when he turned around, he realized the person to be one of Lawrence ’s men with a gun in his hand.“Step out of the car now!” The soldier yelled and both Mira and Christopher had their hands up in their head. “No matter what happen, don’t open the door.” Christopher instructed Mira, before stepping out of the car.“You really think we

The man standing before Mira was Henry . Mira turned to face Christopher , who gave her a nod and she mouthed a thank you and turned to face her father once again. She didn’t bother listening to what the priest had to say, all she was concerned about was hugging her father. However she knew better than to keep her emotions in check. She didn’t want anyone from the audience suspecting a thing about them. After the blessing of the marriage, Christopher decided to give Henry and his daughter a private moment amongst themselves. He didn’t want to interfere in the father-daughter meet up, after a very long time of being distanced together. Christopher closed the door behind him and went to greet the guests that had come for his wedding. Meanwhile, with tears filled on her face, Mira rushed up to her father and embraced him in a warm hug. Henry couldn’t contain his emotion as well, as he held on to his daughter tightly. The instant bond we shared and my sudden ability, to let you into my secret is sufficient enough.” Mira smiled as she released herself from the hug. “Come on now, lets meet your siblings.” Amy grabbed her hand and they moved further to meet Henry, who a

My home was artistic. A red front door with a golden knocker. Black and white checkered flooring. A wooden staircase with a lacquer shine and a sparkling chandelier. However, I’d always wondered, If I pulled back a corner of the wallpaper . . . would it bleed red? If this world was as transparent as glass, soft splats would drip a pool to the marble floors.I stared at the TV in the corner of the kitchen, hardly processing the newscaster’s voice, but when murder passed her ruby red lips, the word resounded in my mind. My throat tightened as I twisted the ring on my middle finger. While my home, my life, was built on piles of dirty money, I’d always been able to say I hadn’t contributed to the balance. Not until earlier this year, that is. Now, blood was on my hands and guilt watched me while I slept.Voices from the foyer drifted to my ears every time the swinging door opened as our servants came in and out, preparing for lunch.A feminine trill of a laugh, my cousin Benito’s lively t

He paused in a dusty shaft of sunlight, his silver hair gleaming. As if his delicately pointed ears and slightly elongated canines weren’t enough to scare the living shit out of everyone in that alley, including the now-whimpering madwoman behind Mia , a wicked-looking tattoo was etched down the left side of his harsh face, the whorls of black ink stark against his sun-kissed skin. The Morse codes could easily have been decorative, but she still remembered enough of the Skull language to recognize them as words, even in such a

What she wants?Mia wasn’t naive. She knew very well that Christopher wouldn’t be able to get out of this mess without her. It seemed he had made the mistake of angering Arthur and at least, she was able to help him. Even if it meant giving up her own freedom. Why she was so nice to the same man who had abandoned her many times when she needed him but now she felt the urge to give herself up to help him… she didn’t know. But he was her brother and she felt somewhat responsible for him.“I… I want my brother safe,” she began to speak after a moment's pause. “I want him to leave alive. I want to see him leave alive and for your men to never go after him again.”“And in return, you’ll take my offer,” he mused. Mia nodded and the smirk on Arthur’s face widened.“That’s a deal,” he responded, his tone final. Mia felt a little bit of relief, even though her heart pounded in her chest. Then, his hand snaked up her arm and she gasped at how warm his palm was on her cool skin. Up her arm, to h

She looked up to see the guards coming towards her direction. The moment they laid eyes on her, one of them rushed over to help steady her body. Mia looked to see the others moving to her hideout to figure out how she had arrived. Anna was taken out of the underground in silence to live in Christopher's mansion and resume the underground at night when she's well rested. Her room was beside Devon's room and well furnished, equally as his own, with luxurious closets large enough to open a boutique.Anna could not stop exclaiming and thought of exactly what was going on.It was the third day she was taking Christopher home after the night she passed out without seeing Christopher himself. She was left alone in the room, only to be taken care of by maids attending to her needs. She needs fresh air, at least, but at the same time, she is scared of breaking the rules. That morning, she had just showered up early and was creaming her body before Christopher walked into her half-nakedness.It was nothing to Christopher, as he has seen her that way several times, but the amusing part is the fact that Anna was covering her body and not throwing herself at him."Out of your clothes! Like right now, put it off." Christop

Without doing extra training between the stacks, Mia found herself less exhausted when she left the library. Christopher had retrieved her from Windhaven after two and a half hours, and she’d already been so bored sitting in Rhys’s mother’s house that she’d nearly smiled to see him. But Christopher ’s face had been tight, his eyes cold and distant, and he’d barely spoken to her when Rhys had appeared. Rhys had barely spoken to her, either, but that was to be expected. It was better if they didn’t speak at all.Yet Christopher hadn’t said more than “I’ll see you later” before leaving again with Rhys after the High Lord had brought them back to the House of Wind, his face still tight and angry. With the extra energy buzzing through her that night, wondering incessantly why Christopher had been so upset, Mia didn’t feel like eating in her room and falling asleep. So she found herself in the doorway of the dining room.Christopher was lounging in his chair, a glass of wine in his hand, st

Hoping Virgil wouldn’t come shove him over the railing for disobeying her orders, he said, “All right. Throw the right hook.”Mia did so. And dropped her damn elbow.“Get back into position.” She did, and he asked, “May I?”Mia nodded, and kept perfectly still as he made minute adjustments to the angle of her arm. “Punch again. Slowly.”She heeded him, and his hand wrapped around her elbow as it began to dip. “See? Keep this up.” He maneuvered her arm back into starting position. “Don’t forget to flow the weight through your hips.” He took her arm, keeping a good foot of distance between their bodies, and moved it through the punch. “Like this.”“All right.” Mia reset herself, and he took a step away. Without his order, she did the punch again. Perfectly.Christopher whistled.“Do that with more force and you’ll shatter a male’s jaw,” he said with a crooked grin. “Give me a combination one-two, then four-five-three, then one-one-two.”Mia ’s brows bunched as she reset herself. Five days later, Christopher sat before the desk of the library’s high priestess and watched her enchanted pen move. He’d met Virgil a few times over the centuries—found she had a dry, wicked sense of humor and a soothing presence. He’d made a point not to stare at her hands, or at the face he’d only seen once, when Mor had brought her in so long ago. It had been so battered and bloody it hadn’t looked like a face at all.He had no idea how it had healed beneath the hood. If Madja had been able to save it in a way she hadn’t been able to save Virgil ’s hands. He supposed it didn’t matter what she looked like, not when she had accomplished and built so much with Rhys and Mor within this library. A sanctuary for females who’d endured such unspeakable horrors that he was always happy to carry out justice on their behalf. His mother had needed a place like this. But Rhys had established it long after she’d left this world. He wondered if Azriel’s mother had ever considered coming here, or

Curled up in bed, a book propped on the thick down comforter, Mia was just getting to the sizzling first kiss in her latest novel when a knock thudded on her door. She slammed the book shut and sat up against the pillows. “Yes?”The handle turned, and there he was.Christopher still wore his leathers, the overlapping scales of them full of shadows that made him look like some great, writhing beast as he shut the door.He leaned against the carved oak, his wings rising high above his head like twin mountain peaks.“What?” She slid the book onto the nightstand, sitting up further. His eyes dipped to her sleeveless silk nightgown, then quickly returned to her face. “What?” she demanded again, angling her head. Her unbound hair slid over a shoulder, and she saw him mark that, too.His voice was rough as he said, “I’ve never seen you with your hair down.”She always wore it braided across her head or pinned up.
