Chapter 5

Clara's feet crept away from the place with a dark smile hanging on her face as she went back to get the card terminal.

Everyone caught their cells from their pockets to get a glimpse of the beautiful moments, which were going to be terrible for some people.

"Now that the card terminal is here, Which are you going to be paying with: cash, transfer, card, or QR  code?"She snapped with so much impatience in her voice.

[Ding..] The system rang in his head once again, making the pace of his racing heart go even faster than it was already.

[The host has 60 seconds more to accomplish the task, or punishment will be rolled out accordingly.] It ended.

Without a second thought, he reached out to his card, which had always been lying in his pockets all those years, and shoved it over to the receptionist.

"I just hope that you have gotten some money from this poor asshole." She said it under her breath, loud enough for him to hear what she just said.

Clara took the card away from him, walking gradually toward the other end of the room.

With every single step that she took, her step seemed to go way slower, and the ticking of the clock were louder in his ears.

She placed the card in the slot, but it seemed to be a little bit slow.

"What the hell in the name of ten devils is wrong with you... You should work already." He yelled at the top of his lungs without daring to let the sound out.

"I don't think that this is ever going to work, sir. We should toss the card away already, which holds no money." Silver said, turning gradually towards her boss.

But instead of giving his consent, he only shook his head to show his disapproval.

"I think that it's just slow because of the network issues and nothing other than that. So you should give it time and try again, Silver." He replied, making her clutch her hands with so much disgust.

"But." She was about to say something, but the manager would not allow her to spit out even a single word out of her mouth.

"No buts... Just do as I have told you." He added once again, making her turn around with the grudge fully on her face.

"Thirty seconds more. Please work this time." Christopher muttered under his breath.

She placed the card in the card slot almost immediately, and it began its card reading once again.

Finally, it emitted a loud beeping sound to reveal that the result was already out, and afterward, a receipt was printed at the bottom.

Everyone was eager to know what the outcome of the whole drama was as Mr. Andrew reached out to it himself and read the message that had been printed out from the machine.

Without spitting out a single word from his mouth, he walked gradually out of the hall, making his heart drop.

"It was not successful. So much time wasted on such a pauper like him." She said to herself with a dark smile still on her face, but the voice of Mr. Andrew strangely snapped her off from her thoughts.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it was successful." He sounded the words to the hearings of every single person in the hall as he handed the receipt and table number over to Christopher

Every single being in the room was taken aback with so much surprise, as they found it difficult to believe what they just heard.

Meanwhile, her lips were still far apart, and with so much shock, a breath of relief escaped from his mouth as he stared at his wristwatch to discover that he had just three seconds left.

[Ding]

The sound can go back to his hearing once again.

He still found it difficult to believe the words that he just heard.

It was hard enough for him to pronounce such a large amount of money, let alone the thought of having it.

"There is no way that I can be that rich." He said to himself, still trying hard to comprehend what he just heard when his phone made a beeping sound.

He brought out his cell phone from his pocket only to discover that he just got a message from his bank account.

*Dear Customer.. Your account just got created with the sum of ten million dollars, and you will have to come to the bank to confirm your identity."

He was taken aback by what he just said and was already gasping for breath, as he could not breathe properly.

"I think that there has to be some glitch in the system." Clara noted snapping Christopher off from his thoughts with sweat already dripping down from the corner of her face as she moved towards the machine, rebooting it at multiple intervals, but it was still there.

"You should stop that already and get ready for the punishment afterward for being so rude to a potential customer," Mr. Andrew returned with a frown on his face.

Meanwhile, he turned gradually towards Christopher with a smile on his face.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience that we have caused you already." He noted.

"The waitress will be at your service at any time, and I am sure you will always get better service." He added once again.

He was about to turn around and leave when he remembered something, making him turn back around towards the crowd.

"Aren't we forgetting something here?" His stare was directed towards Clara who could barely look into his face now.

"What would that be?" The manager inquired quickly.

"The deal that we made... I won, so isn't she planning to fulfill her part of the deal?" He inquired, still staring at her and making murmurs that flared up in the hall once again.

Immediately he spat out the words from her mouth, her lips twisted into a frown.

"You aren't expecting me to lick the dust off your shoes, right?" Silver quickly shot a frown at him.

"You might be able to afford the meal, but that doesn't save you as the bum that I have always known you as." There was a pain in her heart as she tried to console herself with these words.

"Are you trying to say that the employers of this great company are not even trustworthy?" He inquired, making the manager fall backwards slowly and turning around towards him.

Clamors and whispers filled the hall from the people who had been watching the scene right from the very beginning.

Mr. Andrew's face broke up into a cold sweat, knowing fully that Christopher had just brought up a sensitive issue that he could not allow to slip away so easily.

"Calm down, everyone... This is a very good company, and I can assure you that we are trustworthy and our employers will always abide by their pact." He noted whipping off the sweat from his face.

"Then let her get down to it already." He could hear the clamors coming after him from every single side.

His feet turned around towards her, shooting laser glares in her direction.

"What are you waiting for already?"

"But sir." Her eyes scanned towards the direction of his shoes and back at the manager.

"That looks more like hell." She said as she was twisted her nostrils, but that was not going to do any good for her.

"Then you should be ready to have a taste of that hell." He returned to her.

"I didn't make the deal for you, and no one coerced you into making it either." He added.

"I thought that it was just a joke... Nothing too personal." She shivered right on the spot where she was standing.

"But it isn't a joke anymore now." Christopher shot a sneer in her direction.
