Chapter 10: A Fated Opportunity

"So boring!!!" Krisia complained, sitting next to me in the auditorium.

Yes, the name of the girl with the brown ponytail was Krisia. The girls were sitting together and I was sitting at the farmost edge next to Krisia. For the last half an hour, we were waiting for the orientation to start so Laeratia decided it would be a good idea to introduce each other.

Very interesting indeed.

I wasn't in favour of that idea completely because introducing yourself to random people you just met on your way towards a common destination seems a bit too meticulous. But I also hated socializing. Not because I was terrible at it but because it used to discharge my social battery quickly.

And that's how we got to know each other's names. And somehow it turns out that Krisia, Laeratua and I were in the same class. But the other two girls, Jaswyn and Cleoa were in a different class than their friend Krisia.

I wish I was in a different class.

"You don't talk much, do you?" Krisia asked, as I looked towards her and nodded, "I would like to say I don't like talking much."

"That's the same thing I said." She replied after staring at me with narrowed eyes and a half-opened mouth. I nodded again and said, "No, it's not."

"God! He is so annoying." She let out a deep irritated breath and turned towards the girls who were busy having a conversation among themselves.

The orientation started soon afterwards. The lights dimmed out and we could hear the resonance of sound in the microphone from the stage as a student could be seen tapping its surface to check whether it was working or not.

"Here goes the lecture." Krisia mumbled under her breath and sighed.

The lights on the stage were focused more on that position where the microphone was kept. Of course, the whole deck was illuminated as the large banner with "Orientation Ceremony" imprinted on it in bold and bright letters could be seen even from the farthest rows.

The student testing the microphone greeted us and introduced himself as the Student Council Prefect. The ceremony started with him saying a few introductory speeches for the main event and passing the microphone to the President of the Student Council.

I remember how it felt when that Student spoke into the microphone. It was a completely different feeling than when the Prefect was speaking. There was this certain pressure in his words, a definite look in those amber eyes of his which seemed to be hovering over all of us.

He was quite tall as it appeared when I compared him to the prefect standing beside him. Average physique at best, but there was an intimidating vibe coming off from his which was enough to tell me that he wasn't a person I want to mess with.

Medium-length dark-coloured hair which bounced off each step he would take on the podium and eyes which radiated the fury of flames. He was wearing his uniform properly with buttons tied up and the tie to his collar. Being the president, he had to appear as an ideal student to be considered a role model for them.

"This… Damn! He is hot!" I heard Krisia squeal. She is so annoying but I wouldn't blame her because she wasn't the only one who was falling head over heels for this guy. I could hear the excited voices of other girls.

I looked at her with narrowed eyes and blurted out, "Chill…"

" I don't think he would be single." One of her friends said though I could tell which one because it was quite dark. I let out a sigh and retorted, "Even if he is, he has rather less time left."

"Bruh…" Both of them seemed to be rather disappointed with my reply.

He was an interesting man.

He was in his final year, which meant being two years older than us. His main part in the orientation was to encourage us about this academy and its environment so that we could actively participate in its curriculum. And from the way he worded his phrases, we all got an idea that this wasn't going to be an easy ride.

His speech was phenomenal in the least. Maybe because of his charm, he was able to pull off such an ordinary speech in a way which induced much excitement and nervousness in the freshmen. Either way, I was impressed, to say the least.

I wasn't expecting this academy to have boys like him.

The microphone was soon passed onto the Chancellor of this academy and everyone had to pay their respect by standing up as soon as he stepped on the podium.

Mr Feron Flameband.

I have heard about him from Laeratia's father. He was quite interested in building a healthy relationship with Lord Kauis as it would help him in many aspects with respect to the academy. That was the reason he was writing the letters himself. But after that typing error, I wonder if Lord Kauis would be interested in him anytime soon.

He was a middle aged man with few strands of white hair. His build was rather huge and there was a rough demeanor in his body language. From what I've heard, he was a man with immaculate magical prowess.

The Chancellor went on about the heritage of this academy along with its historical relevance and achievements. How he was honoured to be chancellor of such a respected institution of the country. He quickly moved onto the facilities this academy provides to its students.

To say the least, I was getting more and more interested in this academy as the orientation continued. Something about all this screamed "not so ordinary" in my face and I wanted to explore all of it during my three years here.

I was finally understanding why this academy was so reputed in the country that people would spend their whole fortune just to get exposure to Daexerra Academy of Arcane. Though, at that point I was wondering if it was all bark no bite from the Chancellor but I was absolutely wrong.

I had no idea about what was waiting for me in the next three years here.
