It had been several months since the tragic fall of Karaza and the subsequent arrival of Maria and the rest of the household on the distant Island of Shunga. The once-thriving city had been reduced to ashes, leaving behind only memories soaked in pain and grief. Now, in the cold embrace of night, everyone had gathered around a blazing campfire, seeking warmth, comfort, and a momentary sense of peace after enduring months of sorrow and loss. The memory of Frederick still lingered heavily in their hearts like a haunting specter, refusing to fade with time.

Faul, the child born on the very day Karaza fell, was cradled gently in the arms of his mother, Maria. He slept peacefully, his small chest rising and falling softly as he rested against her warmth. The crackling sound of the fire filled the air, along with the soft whispers of those gathered, trying to enjoy this rare moment of calm. Then, without any warning, an unnatural and powerful gust of wind surged across the Island of Shunga, strong enough to stir the trees and snuff out some of the smaller flames around them.

At that very moment, Faul let out a roar. It was not an ordinary cry from an infant. It was a roar, deep and primal, like the sound of a baby dragon being awakened from a long slumber. His small eyes flew open, now bloodshot and fierce. A blinding light erupted from his gaze, so intense and radiant that it illuminated the entire area around the campfire, casting brilliant reflections across the faces of those present. The sudden transformation shocked everyone.

“Gaaaaaaaaaaaag!” Faul roared again with an unnatural force, and in one swift motion, he sprang out of his mother's arms. His small body glowed like it was sculpted from diamond, his tiny form radiating a mystical energy that was both beautiful and terrifying. Every strand of hair on his head stood on end, and his glowing skin shimmered like crystals reflecting the sunlight. His breathing was heavy, his fists clenched in fury, and he looked around with wild, confused anger in his glowing eyes. Then, just as suddenly, he let out another roar and collapsed to the ground.

Everyone around the campfire froze. Not a word was spoken as they stared in awe and fear at what they had just witnessed. The roar, the blood-red eyes, the glow of his skin, none of it was natural. They had never seen anything like this before, and an unsettling fear began to creep into their hearts. The first thought that crossed everyone's mind was the Red Death. Was Faul infected? Had the very thing that destroyed Karaza now taken hold of this child?

"Faul, my baby," Maria cried out, her voice trembling with emotion and confusion. Tears streamed down her face as she ran to him. She cradled his limp body, pressing him close to her chest as if trying to shield him from the judging eyes of those surrounding them. As she held him, something stirred at her waist. The sword Frederick had given to her before his death suddenly began to glow. A red hue pulsated from within it, faint at first but growing stronger with every heartbeat.

Maria’s mind raced. She remembered clearly what her husband had told her about the sword and its purpose. Now, with the strange events surrounding Faul’s outburst and the sudden glow of the sword, she began to understand. There was a connection between Faul and the sword, an undeniable bond that seemed to awaken only in moments of danger.

As realization dawned on Maria, panic spread among the others. One by one, they began drawing their weapons, their eyes wide with fear and uncertainty. They didn’t see a child in front of them. They saw a threat. Just as the first person was about to lunge forward and strike, Maria lifted her arm with fierce determination. A towering wall of ice rose up instantly from the ground, blocking the path of the would-be attacker.

"If any one of you dares make another move on my son, I will not hesitate to fight back!" Maria shouted. Her voice was strong and filled with unwavering resolve. The icy barrier shimmered in the firelight, casting blue shadows across the ground. Her face was stained with tears, but her eyes were full of fire.

"Don't you see? He is infected!" a man yelled from behind the ice wall, his voice filled with desperation and fear.

"We need to kill him!" another voice cried out.

"He is a misfortune!" shouted someone else, pointing a trembling finger at the glowing child in Maria’s arms. "The very day he was born, we were attacked and driven out of Karaza by the Red Death."

"Even his father died!" added another voice, rising above the others. "He is a curse!"

"We need to get rid of him!" another screamed, their voice echoing in the night like a twisted chant.

"I said if anyone makes any move, I won't hesitate to fight back!" Maria cried out again. Her voice broke with emotion, and tears streamed freely down her cheeks as she held her son tighter than ever.

"I'm with my auntie! If anyone makes any move on Faul, I will fight you all with her!" shouted Billie, Maria’s brave young nephew. He was only ten years old, yet he stepped forward beside her, his small frame standing with courage and defiance.

The crowd was seething with fear and confusion. They were too scared to see reason.

"We don't care!" Alfonsus, the eldest servant of the household, roared above the others. "It's either you or us! Attack! Kill them!"

As Alfonsus charged forward with his weapon raised, something incredible happened. The sword hanging at Maria’s waist glowed brighter than ever before. In a flash, it left its scabbard on its own, slicing through the air with such speed that it left behind an afterimage of red light. It flew through the air and positioned itself between Maria and the attackers, hovering with an eerie calm. Then, as though reacting to her desperation, the sword split into a thousand smaller blades, each one floating and spinning in the air with deadly grace.

The attackers came to a sudden halt. None of them dared to take another step forward. The thousand blades hovered menacingly in the air, forming a protective wall around Maria, Faul, and Billie. No one wanted to test the wrath of the enchanted weapon.

Maria herself stood frozen, stunned by the events unfolding before her. In one night, she had witnessed more than she could understand. Her son’s first word had been the name of the most dreaded force in their world. His eyes had turned red like blood, his skin glowed like diamond, and now the ancient sword of Frederick was defending them of its own volition. It was all too much to take in.

Without wasting another second, Maria acted. She clutched Faul in one arm and Billie in the other and began to run in the opposite direction of the mob. With a wave of her hand, she conjured a trail of ice beneath her feet, boosting her speed. She slid across the ice with practiced grace, her movement as fluid as a stream. Her instincts guided her toward the edge of the island, away from the madness and toward the only chance of escape.

As she reached the shoreline, Maria did not stop. She leaped into the sea without hesitation, freezing the surface beneath each step she took. The frozen trail extended into the vast waters like a silvery path carved through the sea. With her two precious burdens in her arms and nothing but faith in her heart, she pressed forward, sliding across the ice-covered ocean, determined to escape the Island of Shunga and protect her son from those who no longer saw him as one of their own.

Back on the island, the glowing sword that had split into a thousand shards began to shimmer. Slowly, the blades turned into red particles of dust, vanishing into the air like fireflies being extinguished. The crowd of attackers stood in stunned silence, their weapons lowered, their minds grappling with what they had just seen.

They looked at each other, not with anger now, but with confusion and fear. None of them had expected this.

Ten years felt like a few days for Faul and felt like forever for Maria and Billie. The contrast between how time moved for each of them was almost unbelievable. For Faul, whose soul had lived for centuries across ages and who had witnessed the rise and fall of kingdoms, this stretch of ten years was nothing more than a fleeting moment. Faul lived for over five thousand years before his death and reincarnation, so a mere ten years felt like nothing. It was like the blink of an eye to him. He had seen generations pass in less time during his previous life. The flow of time had become something that no longer anchored him. But for Maria and Billie, it was entirely different. Every day, every sunrise and sunset, every cold night and quiet morning in the mountain marked the long passage of time. They had aged, matured, and adapted to mountain life, but never once did they stop counting the days and wondering if life could be more than this constant cycle of survival. Faul is now a young

They arrived in the city after long hours of journey. Maria took the two boys and moved to Jura, a city close to the capital city of Kaar. Because they had stayed away from the activities in the main city for years, they didn't have any coin to rent an apartment. So, they went down to the area allocated for refugees, but before that, they had to go and register as refugees in the city hall. As they entered the city hall, all eyes were on them. Maria was wearing a black cloak, so no one could tell who she was. Billie and Faul were standing close to the door while Maria headed to the registration booth to get them registered. "Sir, we came to register as refugees," Maria said to the man in the registration booth. The man raised his eyes and stared at Maria with a malicious gaze because he had seen how beautiful Maria looked and had already imagined getting her on his bed. "One gold coin, but if you don't have it, I can take you in for just a night and give a beauty like you a free re

Faul, along with his mother and Billie, had been adjusting to their new life in Jura for some time now. Life wasn't as easy as it was in the mountains. In the mountains, they didn't need money to buy anything they needed, as nature had provided everything. Maria had to get work as a waiter in a small eatery in Jura to provide for Faul. Billie, on the other hand, decided to use his skill to help the family also, so he went and joined a little escort cavalry in the city. With his strength and skills, earning money was not a big deal for him. In order to live the life of a normal kid, Maria used her unique power of matter manipulation and changed the color of Faul's eyes with a little tint of red in them, making it seem normal, except when he was too excited or angry his eyes would turn bright red like that of a dragon. Life had been going smoothly until the day the refugee camp was attacked by the Pure Blood, as they called themselves. Pure Blood was a group of individuals from diffe

“Wakie wakie.” The voice sounded distant yet oddly close, echoing through the fog in Faul’s mind. As he slowly opened his eyes, the world around him blurred like a half-remembered dream. His vision struggled to focus, unable to make out any details. All he could see was the faint silhouette of someone nearby. “Where... where am I?” Faul croaked, trying to sit up. The figure that stood before him appeared to be a young girl around his age, her voice carrying a light, curious tone. “Dad! He’s awake!” she called out excitedly, turning toward the doorway. Faul blinked repeatedly, trying to make sense of everything. His head throbbed with confusion. How did he even get here? What had happened to him? A few seconds later, a tall, broad-shouldered man stepped into the room. His presence was strong, commanding, but not threatening. He stared at the girl with stern eyes. “Anna, didn’t I tell you to stay away from this room?” the man scolded. “I’m sorry, Dad,” Anna said, her lips pouting

The next few days passed uneventfully as Faul slowly adjusted to his new surroundings. Alfred and Anna had been nothing but kind, ensuring he had everything he needed. Despite the warmth of their home, Faul remained distant, his mind consumed with thoughts of his missing mother and the strange new world he now had to survive in. One quiet morning, as Faul stood outside staring into the horizon, Alfred called out to him. “Faul,” he said, his voice firm but encouraging. “There’s an ongoing selection happening soon. The Knight School and the School of Sorcery from the Kaar Nation will be arriving here any day now. They're scouting for young talents like you to join the knighthood and the sorcery towers.” Alfred walked closer, lowering his voice a bit. “I believe this could be the easiest way to find your mother. Join one of the academies, grow stronger, and you’ll get closer to the truth. There’s a storm coming, Faul. You need to be ready.” Faul looked up at him, emotionless. “Until t

Faul arrived with Phil at the equipment room to select their training gear. The place was filled with an array of weapons and tools, neatly arranged across the walls and shelves. Faul moved silently from one piece of equipment to another, his eyes scanning carefully. Phil, meanwhile, stood by, curiously observing his new friend, wondering what he’d do next. “Hey Phil, what do you think about this?” Faul asked, lifting a short black sword from the wall. The blade gleamed faintly, and its hilt was covered in red, scaly leather that resembled dragon skin. “Uh… it looks kind of devilish,” Phil replied, laughing nervously. To his surprise, Faul chuckled along. It was the first time Phil had seen him laugh since his arrival at the camp, and the sound felt rare and unexpected. “You made a good choice, son,” came a familiar voice. Alfred stepped into the room, arms crossed and a fond look on his face. “Your father picked up that same sword the day we arrived at our training camp back then.

  • You are my master?

Faul was utterly surprised by what Yin and Yang said, but he just couldn't believe it. "What did you say?" Faul tightened his grip around Yin and Yang's neck. "I... said... my... master... is... the greatest dragon that ever lived, Braf," Yin and Yang forced himself to say while being choked. Faul dropped him to the ground, standing still for a few minutes before he opened his hands towards the thick smoke, and it spread far and wide, growing even thicker. "Why is he acting like this? No one should know my master around here, right?" Yin and Yang thought before he found himself being lifted off the ground. "You are coming with me." Faul didn't give Yin and Yang any choice and lifted him off the ground before taking flight from the area, heading deep into the mountains. Others didn't know what was going on between the two who were fighting earlier, as they no longer heard any fighting going on between them. Phil knew that Faul had left with Yin and Yang because he could no longer

Faul carried Phil back to the camp at a fast pace, with the other two tagging along behind him. The journey was a quiet one. Faul felt depressed—if he had arrived any later, his friends might have been dead. Meanwhile, the others worried that maybe Faul was angry with them for being too weak. He had simply picked up Phil and left without saying a word. Faul was never someone who knew how to express himself—except with his sword when he was pissed off. They snuck into the camp through the back and found that everyone was fast asleep. Faul laid Phil down in his corner and then went to his own spot without saying anything to the others. They were all worried—wondering if their long-standing friendship might break apart in a single night. “What were they even doing in the woods at that time?” “Were they following me?” Faul had a lot on his mind and couldn’t sleep all night. The following morning, they were awakened by the clang of a metal pot. Faul noticed the two had bags under thei

Faul sneaked out of the camp through the back of the tent and went into the woods to hunt for food, as recently, eating normal human food no longer quenched his hunger. Unbeknownst to him, Phil opened his eyes and followed closely behind. He was quietly tailing Faul, not caring if anyone saw him leaving the camp. Of course, he was seen by both Ralph and Harry, who also sneaked out of the camp, following the two into the woods. "What do you think these two are going into the woods to do at this time of night?" Ralph couldn’t help but wonder as they continued to follow the two. "That, I don’t know. We’ll just keep following them quietly and find out soon enough," Harry replied, walking cautiously as they trailed behind Phil, who strolled leisurely through the woods. They still found it hard to believe what Faul had told them earlier about being a reincarnated dragon. Although he had shown them his true form by entering their minds, it all still felt like just a dream. They continued

Faul went ahead to tell them who he was, and how he was reincarnated into this world. He also explained what Phil had become and what he could be. Then, he told them about his mission and revealed the true culprit behind the Red Death. He finally asked if they would fight alongside him to end it. After spending hours within their minds, the two teenagers couldn't help but pledge allegiance to Faul, vowing to become his blood brothers and fight with him. When they returned from wherever their minds had taken them, they discovered that the hours they spent inside had only been a few minutes in the real world. They were still lying on their beds. They closed their eyes and drifted to sleep, praying for a good start to the next day — the beginning of the hunting game. The entire Silver Knight class at the Alora Knight Academy was preparing for the upcoming hunting game, scheduled to take place in a week. Before the game, the knights had to be assessed in various areas to determine how

  • Demonic Angel

From day to day, Phil never left Faul’s side, which had already started to bug Faul himself. He didn’t want others to think Phil had lost his mind. Even though Faul didn’t want to believe the stories about a wyvern, he decided to test things out with Phil—to know if it was true and whether Phil had become one. On a fateful day, Faul took Phil into the training quarters to clarify his doubts. “Are we here to train? Because I’d like to test my strength against you,” Phil asked excitedly. “Phil, you will test it out. But right now, I need to clarify something.” Faul sat down cross-legged, looking directly at Phil, who stood there cluelessly. “Can you fight for me, Phil? How much will you risk to protect me?” That question triggered something in Phil, and he knelt on one knee. “Yes! I can fight for you, whenever and wherever. I will risk my life and everything I have to protect you, master!” Phil bowed before Faul, showing his allegiance. The answer wasn’t much of a surprise to Fau

  • Phil's New Strength

Some die-hard fans of the fight knew almost every contestant far beyond the arena, as they kept a close tab on people who might one day join. But no one knew who the new contestant was. His name was simply unknown. Even Faul and the other two wondered why Phil chose such a name. "The Battalion Demolisher? That name is too powerful for someone like Phil. Just the name alone will only get him into more trouble," Harry said, unable to help the pity he felt for his dear friend who seemed ready to lose his life trying to prove nothing. Every day, the arena hosted a maximum of three fights to entertain the people—and to make lots of money, as many would bet on who would win or lose. Today, many had placed their bets based on the odds and the strength of the fighters. Phil's odds were the highest anyone had ever seen since the arena’s inception. Phil had ten-to-two odds of winning. This made many people laugh at the new “Battalion Demolisher,” and no one placed a single bet on him.
