Things cooled down as Rashen had finally come back to his senses,he got too angry and was overcame with a kind rage he had never felt before. He looked around the room, the faces looking at him, some in shock, some in fear and some in disgust. He looked at Ballious standing right in front of him who looked absolutely mortified. He thought of wether he should apologise to him or not; Ballious abused and assaulted him in front of everyone but he wasn't the one getting looks of disdain. He wanted to say something, anything,he took a step closer to Ballious to apologise but as if on instinct Ballious formed his Gem Gloves and aimed at Rashen's head as hard as he could, but before it could make contact Raspin formed a wall between them,he knew it wasn't going to stop Ballious'attack but it would take most of the damage and slow his momentum.
On contact with the wall it easily went through it sending dust and debris flying, when it settled the wall was almost completely destroyed, Rashen was laying on the floor hands over his head like he put reflectively to defend himself and Ballious stood over him, looking at him with both fear and anger.Ngoko sent another gust of wind towards Ballious this time sending him back and away from Rashen as Raspin went over to check on him."That's enough Ballious, you've caused enough trouble for one night." Ngoko said.Raspin helped Rashen up,he had a blank look like his face,"You okay? Are you hurt?" Raspin asked but Rashen didn't respond,he simply slightly nodded."We should get going Raspin," Ngoko said as he walked up to them both, "I'm not really in a partying mood right now""Sounds like a plan" Raspin replied in full agreement. They both walked Rashen out of the building. The three wandered around Dreigon Center,a big amusement park where the club the cadets rented out was built. In the cool of the night is probably when the amusement park is most active. The three walked past various shops, kiosks, street shows and performances with almost zero interest, at least that was the case for Ngoko and Raspin, Rashen walked behind them ignoring their chatter and lost in thought. Rashen couldn't help but wonder why those two would leave the party just because of him, like he was their mess. The night wouldn't have gone the way it did if they just went without him and now they were forced to leave with him. He felt awful."Why did you two leave with me?" He finally asked. The two stopped, looked at each other then at him,"Didn't you hear us? We said we weren't in a partying mood anymore" Ngoko answered,"Yeah, did you think us leaving was because of your little incident with Ballious? Because it wasn't. We weren't feeling the party anymore and decided to leave" Raspin added.Rashen wasn't sure about how he felt about that answer but he could at least hear some level of sincerity in their voices and frankly,he felt a little relieved."Although," Raspin said as he slowed down his pace moving behind Rashen, "I immediately stopped feeling the party when I saw Ngoko dancing. It was horrendous""WHAT!!!" Ngoko blurted out, "That was the Talahiki dance of my ancestors from the Old Odon Empire of Nigea, you think it's bad because you just don't get it man""No. I think it's bad because it is,I know the Talahiki dance man I was there with you during that dance presentation we went to with Squad Commander Kuro" Raspin said leading to an argument between the two,but Rashen thought it was more of a playful bickering between friends."So where to next?" Asked Raspin, "It's not even midnight yet and I'm not really feeling like heading home yet""Well Dreigon Center has this gaming alley" said Ngoko"And?" Raspin asked uninterested"I heard they recently got the Talon Claw" Ngoko said slyly,Raspin perked up."What was our record against the game?" Raspin asked"Zero to fifty seven, you lost thirty of those by the way" Ngoko made it a point to add that last part"Doesn't matter...our hour of retribution has finally arrived" Raspin said now full of energy. While having absolutely no idea what they were talking about Rashen still followed them to the gaming alley to play the Talon Claw. Apparently it was a game where your main objective is using a wooden claw controlled by buttons and a lever to retrieve a golden egg. It was a really addictive game that is originated from the country Jing-Hai that only recently began exporting it to other countries. After blowing a considerable amount of money on the game they decided to take a break and get some food. After a few more losses to the Talon Claw the trio decided to leave the game entirely a focus on other games they could win.Rashen had noticed that, and to his surprise, the duo weren't very good at the games. In fact they were terrible; Ngoko only managed to win a fancy key holder and Raspin won a shirt,a shirt that read "I HAD A BALL IN DREIGON CENTER" which he gave to Rashen. There was a slight satisfaction in seeing the very best of the best struggling with amusement park games little children could win. Even more satisfying that Rashen was, also to his surprise, good at those games. He amassed so many toys and prizes he decided to just give them away to little kids.Wandering around the fairgrounds again Rashen stared intently at Ngoko and Raspin as they argued over who performed worse that night. Looking at the two you wouldn't think they'd get along but in reality they were the best of friends. Rashen hadn't seen them a lot back in the academy until their final year they were announced as Senior Cadets, but he remembered their names. On every list of results he would see their names at the very top, sometimes Ngoko was number one, sometimes it was Raspin,on rarest occasions it was Lumins. He remembered feeling frustrated about it and despite never meeting them,he felt resentment towards them. But he acknowledged that in a way, they pushed him,his drive to surpass both of them was one of the factors he came out where he was.Now looking at them he felt jealousy, not the kind of jealousy one would feel over material things, different from the jealousy he had felt when looking at Lumins. He was jealous he didn't have what they had. A friendship like they had. The only real friend he had was away and he hasn't heard from him in four years. Even Mr and Mrs Cobbs, despite everything they'd done for him and how much he still appreciates them, even they eventually dissociated themselves from him after Argins left.He looked fondly at the sky, at the moon wondering where Argins was and hoping he was safe. They were in the shops closer to the Ruins of Old Dreigon,a deserted section of the park. It was at exactly 12 o'clock when they heard screams coming from there. The scream came from the Ruins of Old Dreigon. Rashen,Ngoko and Raspin went in to investigate, after several minutes of searching Raspin had already given up,"Are you sure you heard right Rashen? We've been looking around and I'm not seeing or hearing anything""Yeah'" Ngoko added, "We were at a fair so it's understandable you'd hear screams."Rashen wasn't too sure about the that just yet. He knew what he heard and it sounded like a scream of terror, like someone needs help. But they had been searching for a while now and have found nothing so they decided to go back. Just then they heard the scream again."Doesn't sound like the scream of someone having a good time at the fair now does it?" Rashen asked sarcastically."Don't be a smartass Rashen" Raspin, replied, they heard the scream again"Rashen's right, we've gotta check this out now" Ngoko said in a serious tone. The trio ran towards the direction the sound was coming from till they got closer and closer. It led them to a small
At the main Imperial headquarters in Nottenam and behind closed doors the council of commissioned officers of the Imperial Forces were seated with the Ranking Commander as the head of the table. The council only included officers from Squad Commander all the way to Ranking Commander, despite being commissioned officers,Senior Officers and Sub-Commanders were not permitted to be in the same room and sit at the table."We will now begin the discussion at hand" said the Ranking Commander to begin the meeting."Thank you Commander. We are here to discuss the issue involving three cadets newly graduated from the Nottenam Imperial Academy." Said a Troop Commander."And what is this issue?" Asked the Ranking Commander"Two of the cadets,Ngoko Halter, who graduated as the best overall cadet and Raspin Krust were found in near death states by Squad Commander Malloy and he has reasons to believe that the one responsible for said incident was another cadet,Rashen, who graduated as the cadet with t
Just as Head Academy Officer Remry Gillurt had advised, Rashen freshened up at the academy before leaving. Officer Gillurt was kind enough to provide fresh clothes for Rashen to wear on his way back home.It was definitely certain now, there would never be a need for Rashen to return to the Academy now that he had been given his deployment form,it was really goodbye. He wished it'd have been a more emotional parting but the past few days had been too much for him. He was both physically and emotionally drained. He had his sights set on the Lambrid division to serve for the Imperial Forces and he would've chosen to serve their too with the privilege he had when he was announced to be in the top fifteen but he knew that would never be the case now. Even if his right to choose any division to serve was still intact he very much doubted that the Lambrid division would want anything to do with him after hearing the news. The entire incident from the attack at midnight to Rashen's arrest an
Rashen was in a carriage staring at his deployment form,he was to serve at the Imperial Headquarters in Bludvalley,Grittshore and he wasn't at all excited about it. Grittshore was one of the main regions of Ephyre and it had a nasty reputation for being the most underdeveloped, corrupt, dangerous and the most crime ridden region in the country. Many of the cadets back at the academy weren't all too keen on serving here and neither was he."This is as far as I can go, the main Headquarters ain't too far from here so you can probably just walk" said the driver lazily,"Thanks" replied Rashen dully as he paid the man and took out his luggage. He began his journey to the Headquarters. If Rashen were to describe Grittshore in one word it would be 'rusty'. From what he could see there was an imbalance between the haves and the have nots. There were slums and builds that looked on the verge of collapsing, there were a lot of industries producing a lot of toxic fumes but no one seemed to mind.
Rashen woke up filled with dread the very next morning. He sat up and looked at the other side of the room where Gayle's bed was,he wasn't there. He thought it was quite unfortunate he had to share a room with Gayle. There were plenty of free rooms available and when he asked why he couldn't just stay in any other room he was sat down for what seemed to be an hour long lecture by Macy about how that was selfish and an injustice. Macy had a room to herself. He got up from the bed. He had to sleep in his shorts since his night dress was stolen the other day and it was either his shorts or his casual clothes. After freshning up he found the others in the dining hall,Macy was going through her scrambled eggs with bread slices and an orange juice, same with Gayle."Did you have a good night sleep Rashikins?" Gayle asked mockingly as Rashen walked up to them."Good morning" Rashen said to Macy, ignoring Gayle."Sure woke up late didn't ya" said Gayle,"Lay off him Gayle,he was probably tired
The explosion wasn't very powerful but it was enough to send everyone into panic. The shockwave had knocked everyone off balance. "The hell was that!!!" Exclaimed Gayle,"Was that some kind of attack?" Macy asked,"We wouldn't know for sure,we must mobilize our forces and-" Once again Garle was cut off, this time by the flash of bright red light, red flames streaking at full speed towards the direction of the explosion. As soon as Rashen saw the fire from the distance he wasted no time,he knew what he needed to do. The wind in his ears,he flew faster and faster with each passing second because he knew that if he didn't, people might die.People ran and crawled out of the burning building, covered in soot and burns. Some people could barely walk, some couldn't move,it was total chaos. One woman laid on the floor crying her eyes out"MY BABY!!! SOMEONE HELP ME SAVE MY BABY" She screamed but people just ran by her trying to save themselves instead. She couldn't move, she could only watched
Macy and Gayle enjoyed the breakfast Gayle made with as he quotes 'Love'. Two days has passed since the fiery incident occurred and the three of them had become heroes somewhat. They definitely weren't as hated or despised as the Imperial Soldiers before them as explained by Garle.Rashen burst through the dining hall doors holding a stack of files,he dropped them on the table and looked at the two of his fellow cadets with a look that bordered on enthusiasm and worry."Good morning fellow Cadets" he said,Gayle looked at the files at the table, then looked at Rashen, then went back to eating and pretending he hadn't seen him at all. Macy went straight to the point instead and asked about the files,"Marun has you holding those for her?""No,I doubt as much as she complains about the files she works with she'd let anyone else help her with them""Fair enough" Said Gayle"These are case files for Bludvalley,I got them from the Grittshore Watch and I've been going through them for a while
Rashen woke up back in the room he shared with Gayle, although he was alone at that time. The pain in his eyes from yesterday was gone and he could see clearly again. He hurried out of bed to freshen up,he was in a hurry to get back to Blak Acre: to find the young girl he met last night. He was frustrated at himself that he let the girl go, and even more frustrated at the fact that Nigsky the gutter had used the opportunity to escape as well. After freshning up he hurried to the dining hall where Macy and Gayle were currently eating their breakfast. "Morning Rashikins" Gayle said after seeing him, "Your food's in the kitchen" he practically sang as Rashen walked past him and straight into the kitchen. He was still mad at them. Angry that they basically laughed at his idea that all the theft activities might be related. He was in such a rush that he didn't even bother to think about the fact that Gayle only kept a half empty box of crackers and a glass of milk for him as breakfast,he
In a particular bar in Blak Acre, the Goddess Spit, sat a crusty, hairy and unkept drunk. Sticking out of the pocket of his coat was a rusty dagger. He downed a jug of beer and slammed it on the counter demanding another. The workers as well as other customers found him incredibly annoying and overbearing. He harasses the female workers and constantly picks fights with the men. It was safe to say that no one enjoyed his presence, but he was a paying customer and as long as you have the money to pay, anyone is welcomed at the Goddess Spit bar.The door to the bar swung open violently and in came two Imperial Soldiers."NIGSKY!!!" One of the soldiers, the shorter one with natural tan skin, messy hair and red eyes yelled. Nigsky wasted no time pulling his dagger out of his coat but it was instantly slapped away by the cadet who grabbed his head and slammed it hard on the counter repeatedly leaving him disoriented. The cadet dragged him outside the bar and into an alley close by. Nigsky called
It had been over an hour since Rashen arrived at the Grittshore Watch Headquarters with Ridnik in arms. He sat in one of the many rooms in the building together with Garle,Hanabi,Miss Marun,Macy and Gayle. As they sat there in silence,Nanalie arrived. Garle was the first to ask her,"How is he Nanalie?" "He's unconscious Head Watcher. He still has his convulsions but I'd like to think his condition has gotten better. I'm told that they can manage to keep him alive till we can take him to the hospital for professional treatment." "That's good. We should let him rest a while before transporting him." "I'll let the others know Head Watcher." Said Nanalie. She walked out the door, closing it behind her."Now then..." Garle said, his voice as soothing as ever, "I suppose it's time to discuss things as they are." "I'm sorry Head Watcher." Rashen started. "I probably shouldn't have just dumped him on the Watch so suddenly,I thought he was dying and I-- I panicked." Rashen said, his voice g
Rashen, feeling good about himself, walked the streets of Blud Valley, deciding to go on his morning patrol before heading over to the Watch. The streets of Blud Valley seemed a lot healthier these days and it had everything to do with the Grittshore Division. Rashen had become something of a local celebrity in Grittshore, particularly Blud Valley, known by the name 'Hell Wings'. Blud Valley was still ridden with petty thefts, robberies and assault but crime was on a slow decline. Blak Acre on the other hand was a different story. The biggest subregion in Grittshore and they hadn't covered much grounds there, but Rashen didn't want to think about that too much. He was well aware that the issues in Blak Acre and Grittshore as a whole would take years to handle but Rashen was up for the challenge. He greeted various merchants and shop owners as he walked through the local market of Blud Valley. The children at the corner invited him over for their game of Atcherball but he declined. He
"So Rashikins..." Gayle called from his bed just across Rashen's space. "What type'o woman d'you like?" "What?" Rashen, who at this point was used to Gayle keeping him up at night, asked."What type'o woman d'you like?" Gayle asked again. Rashen didn't think too much about his response."I mean...I like Macy." "No Rashikins,I mean romantically. The type'o woman you'd want to spend the night with having steamy, hot se-" "Yeah I got it!" Rashen interrupted. "I don't really have an answer for you though." "Come on Rashikins don't be a disappointment." "I'm serious! Girls never really liked me y'know." "With the whole 'demon who killed his parents' situation?" Asked Gayle."Yeah... also I don't think that physically,I was their type." "Ok but of all the women you've seen, different types with different body shapes, which one do you like the most?""I really couldn't tell you man." Rashen said truthfully."Fine,if you say you." Gayle replied, clearly unsatisfied with his Rashen's answ
The Red Ring Fox gang had been causing trouble in the deeper parts of Blak Acre and today they managed to corner an aging merchant in an alley. They pushed the merchant to the wall and forced his bag out of his hands. "Please don't. That's all I could make today and I have children at home to feed." The merchant begged. "Shut him up Burnlow!" Ordered one of the members,a young woman with a nose ring and a satchel hanging on her shoulders. Burnlow, the bald man with a particularly large nose landed a punch on the merchant's stomach. He retched as he got down on his knees, tears in his eyes. "What's in the bag Narry? Anything worth it?" Asked Snyther, another member of the group with sharp eyes and spiky hair. "There's money here but it's not nearly enough." Narry said irritated. She walked up to the merchant and got down to meet his eyes, she grabbed him by the hair. "Listen old man,the phrites ya got here ain't nearly enough to pay for our protection." She said. "Pr- protecti
Claruk's body ached all over as he struggled to get to the kitchen. Ignoring his blood loss, he forced forced himself to get to the cabinets,he needed something to stop the bleeding. His arms pushed him forward leaving a trail of blood behind him where his left leg used to be. As he drew closer to the bottom cabinets he felt a sharp pain from his left thigh. He couldn't scream in pain as his throat had been slashed,he coughed up blood instead. He looked back to see the metal blade that had been forced into his thigh and standing behind him,a large man with metal blades sticking out of his back. The man dragged Claruk out of the kitchen and back to the living room using the blade. He sat him on the floor, back against the wall where he had a clear view of the dead woman in the middle of the scattered living room. His attacker pulled out another metal blade and forced it through Claruk's other thigh, another through his left shoulder. He sobbed as he coughed up blood, the pain was too i
Three days had passed since the duel and the three week mandatory leave for the Imperial Soldiers had elapsed and now it was time to return to business as usual and for Rashen, Gayle and Macy, that would mean returning to Grittshore."You guys better hurry. The carriage'll be here soon." Macy called from just outside the lodge. She stood in the cool 6 o'clock breeze, her bag hung over her shoulder all packed and ready to go."Yeah yeah I'm coming." Said Gayle walking out the lodge. He hung his bag over his shoulder as well, but in his hand was another bag,a bigger one."You know you could've just left your leftover foodstuffs for the next people that'll be using your room." She said arms crossed. Gayle laughed."Foodstuff we bought? With our own money? Macy we're not philanthropist y'know." "Whatever." She checked her watch. "What's taking Rashen so long?" "He's signing out and returning the key." "Wish he'd hurry up." "Meh,s'not like the carriage's here yet." "Still,he should be h
Rashen finally regained consciousness and the first person he sees after opening his eyes is Macy. She had laid his head in her lap while he was unconscious."He's awake." She whispered to Gayle who was leaning by the door. As his senses returned to him, Rashen realized that they were in his changing room. He struggled to get up,"Easy." Macy said as she helped him sit up.He had a slight headache, hopefully not another concussion,he looked around from Macy to Gayle and then back to Macy."You came." He said."Yeah...I did." She replied quietly."Why?" "Well, your friend Cobbs is...let's just say he was very persuasive." "Mr Cobbs? What does he have to do with--""Was it all true?" She interrupted. Rashen frowned, clearly he didn't like her interrupting him and dodging the question, she noticed this too."Sorry Rashen, it's just...what you said out there? Was it all true?"Rashen looked away from her. He wanted to snap at her,why would he lie about something like that?. He looked ba
"That's my boy!!!" Basterious laughed, "He's already perfected the Golden Sun at such a young age." "Should we stop him? An attack like that would kill Rashen wouldn't it?" Raspin asked Ngoko to which he replied,"Lumins wouldn't kill Rashen though... would he?" "It's time to put an end to this!" Alora spoke up."Don't bother! All of you!" Said Allum still seated arms crossed. "Lumins is many years too young to be using a technique like that." "And what exactly is that supposed to mean Allum? You dare to underestimate my son?" LiLyna snapped."Just watch!" Said Allum nonchalantly.Lumins was about to hit Rashen with the Golden Sun when suddenly his face contorted and his body tensed up. The arm holding up the attack began to tremble till it gave out. As Lumins fell to the ground the Golden Sun began to destabilize,it released flares and the heat shot up astronomically."What's happening Lumins? Is it going to explode or something?!!" Rashen asked in panic. Lumins didn't answer,he ju
