Chapter 3: Flaming assassin

The night started.

"Ren, are you sure about this?"

"I'm sure about this let's just keeping hiding and gather some and go to a place where we can pull people's attention."

Using my hide skill Konoha and I investigate the mansion of the evil lord.

The evil lord that we are talking about is named Gold Wan. He is the lord and the current mayor of Stella city. He is corrupt and has much sketchy business going. He made people pay high taxes without a decent reason. His greed put the people of Stella into poverty.

An example of this is the Children living in the slumps.

"Hey! The two of you… Why you’re hiding here."

A knight in patrol saw us.

Konoha hides behind me.

"We are... Ummm..."

I look for an excuse. Before it happened the knight look at me in disgust and said:

"I see, you’re a couple showing love to each other in a dark alley... I’m seeing many people like you. If you wanted to make love to it in a decent room.”

That’s not it! He definitely has a misunderstanding!

"Yes, we’ll do that… Let’s go honey.”

Konoha nodded in response.

Honey my ass. Why this girl is playing with that misunderstanding? Konoha might be cute, but she looks very young. Honestly she looks like 12 years old. Having a relationship with her is very immoral.

The knight leaves us after that. Both of us make a sign of relief.

"That was close, I thought they will cage us in the jail."

Konoha said.

"I was wondering why he didn't capture us..."

Konoha make a sudden realization and reply:

"I see, I was wearing a robe that covers my face back then, maybe they still don't know my face... Why are we hiding?"

Our effort is lost.

Moving on, Konoha and I just walk around finding the path of the entrance to sneak inside the lord's mansion. Konoha’s plan was to steal concrete evidence to make the lord look bad to people’s eyes. After an hour of looking and sneaking around the lord's mansion.

We go to the park and have a rest.

Konoha sat down to the nearby bench.

I turned my gaze toward Konoha and have a deep thought. Konoha might not seem like it, but she is really worried sick about the people in this town. Especially to the kids suffering from the lord's tyranny.

After that, we go home to Yuri’s inn and have a good night's rest.

Konoha sleep immediately after eating dinner.

She’s really exhausted I think.

"She is really sleeping like a kid."

I said as I stood up from the bed and make my way out.

I go back to the lord's mansion The townhouse is surrounded by a great number of knights guarding.

Silently looking to the place, I waited for the right moment to assassinate the lord in my own hands.

The clock makes it sound as the clock stick at 12:00 midnight.

I sneak and take down each of the guards into deep sleep. I enter the mansion using the window on the second floor and search for the lord's room.

Using the route Konoha draw earlier to escape if something happened to her plan. I easily sneak to the roof of the mansion.

There are still many guards and women inside.

That time in the mayor's mansion there was a party with many visitors. Since I saw the picture of the mayor I immediately pointed him out.

"Looks like his, not a pig in mind but also in appearance."

While looking in the window. I saw, that a very girl is about to sit down near the mayor. The girl is having a scared worried face.

"Come here I will treat you gently."

Said the Lord with discussing face.

"The woman is a bit pointed by a gun in her back. Having no choice the woman is forced to sit down and have a drink with the mayor.

Time passed and the mayor stands up with the girl.

"I think it's time. You know it, the thing we're going to do in my room."

A depressed expression is down on the woman's face. She was forced to go with the mayor to his room.

Looking at this situation.

This might be a good chance.

The guard let the Lord and the woman inside the room to not bother them.

"Lucia let's go and start making babies."

Lucia the woman brought there by force is thrown to the large bed. Before the Lord jumps toward her in his discussing naked form.

I used my skill called room lock. Now in this room, nothing can be heard. The sound from outside will never be heard inside and the sound from inside will never be heard outside.

Before he landed on the woman.

I kicked his face in all of my forces. Making his think mouth bleed with blood.

"Gah... Who are you and how..."

He cried upon eating my feet. Before he lifted his head, I kicked him once again.

It's noisy outside because of the party going on in Lord's mansion. I Can torture this man without anyone noticing my action.

The only one who can see me doing this is the woman in the bed.

Lucia is scared and frightened, as she watches me continuously kick the pig bastard.

With my doing, the mayor's face is unrecognizable. His nose is bleeding and his eyes are already swollen. Same with his face that has violet color.

"What do you want? Money? Women? I will give you anything? Just don't kill me."

He begs and puts his both hands together…

"Anything? If that's the case then bring the life of Hikari back."

"Hikari? Who is that?"

That enrages me more and pulled my sword using my magic. I cut his arms and legs.

"Of course… You don’t remember the people you killed.”

I said as a pointed my sword at his throat.

"Th-That sword it's the general's sword…”

“That means you’re one of them… The red robe terrorist…. You’re one of them.”

“I’m a former member… I’m not working for them anymore.”

He identified the sword I'm holding. the sword is previously owned by their general and this sword is used to be one of his sacred treasures. Seeing this sword the Mayor shouted and tried to run away using the window. Unable to get out from the window. He crawls to Lucia. Crawling with his life on the line.

"He's right, the one having the sword is about to hunt me... He's right, all this time... Somebody helps me... Lucia help! I will give you everything... Just help me!"

Said desperately.

Seeing the Mayors face. Without a second thought. She kicked his face and said:

"There's no way I will save you! People like you should go to hell... Mister swordsman kills that disgusting creature already."

"You're a pushy woman... Now mister pig, would you mind telling me the location of this general?”

A depressing expression is drawn to his face. the Lord's hair started to fall as he thinks of the general.

The general is insanely powerful. I saw that on that fiery night. With just a flick of his hand, the whole village turned into ashes. Those people struggling to survive were killed by his men.

They killed Hikari the girl I was protected for a long time and the reason I look forward to the future.

My very precious friend.

And the girl I loved the most.

"I... I... I can't tell you… He's going to burn me if I tell you. please spare me."

Begging for his life the mayor cried.

My grip on my sword grows stronger. Menacing expression of mine glares toward the Lord.

“Evil human burn in flames…”

The blade of the sword started to burst with flames. The undying flames that turned everybody in my town to ashes.

The flame in the flaming sword can’t be extinguished.

I slashed the Lord's body and burned him in flames.

"Ahhhhhhhh!"

Screaming in pain the lord can't do anything.

The flames of my sword are very special. The flames won't die until it burns all the fuel.

In this case, the mayor is the fuel. And the flames will eat him till he died.

"...”

The flames will go to the floor and eventually eat the whole mansion. It's the end for him.

I help Lucia get out of the mansion with me using the window as the exit and going straight to the park located in the center of the city.

Lucia bow her head and thanked me for saving her from the hands of the evil lord.

The flame make the whole knight panicked.

I calmly walked toward Yuri's Inn and in front of the Inn's door. A girl with light brown hair is waiting.

"Take this! Lightning punch!"

The punch was so fast I can't see it. It hit's me right to my face.

"Ren you're an idiot! I was planning on putting him in jail. Killing him is not an answer."

Konoha started scolding me and continue.

 "I was at the last minute and saw that mayor burning. that's so brutal. I can feel that you're kind Ren. I can feel it... But why things must go like this."

"It's because I'm an Assassin with a single mission. I will go and kill every last member of Red robe terrorists and take my revenge. Those evil people need to die so that this world will become a better place."

I said and get up.

"Revenge? What does that mean?" Konoha said.

I was stunned, but make a come back.

"Revenge is my purpose in life… You are just an outsider, you don't have any right to say anything. This is my revenge for my childhood friend and to the town that is burned in the fiery night."

Konoha looks into my eyes and said.

"You got it? You're revenge, aren't you happy?"

"No."

"You brutally kill that man with your flame. Do you enjoy burning people with your flame?"

"No."

"Or perhaps, you think that your friend and life before will come back once you kill them all."

"No!"

I shouted in response.

"Then, what is the meaning behind all this killing. I see you're an assassin. Then your hand is tainted with the blood of countless people. Then you're just the same… A murderer."

I snapped out after Konoha said those words and pulled my sword trying to make her fear me. But Konoha even after pointing my sword to her throat. Calmly look to my eyes with pity.

Looking into her eyes, I turned my glance away and walk.

"Where are you going?"

"Not you're business."

At that moment, under the deep silent starry night.

Konoha became silent and look at my back with sad eyes.

"Sad and lonely, this is Ren's world."

And on that starry night, Konoha started walking beside me.
