Selk's POV:
It was such a great day for me, or at least is would have been. I was relaxing in my home located in the Outbound forest between the boarders of the Human and the Demon continents when I got a letter via a raven from the Arcamac University. It said that I was accepted as their student and would need to attend the first day of class six days from now.
I've always wanted to open a chain of medical clinics in remote areas of this world, but the law says that I would have to complete four years of medical university schooling in order to open my own clinic. This is the first step to me achieving my goal of providing quality and affordable health care for those in need.
I hurriedly packed everything I needed for my trip. I was about to construct a pair of dragon wings on my back, but decided against it since there are flying monsters that might try to attack me. Sure, I can beat them, but I'd rather not hurt any creature if I can avoid it. So I chose to just run all the way there. With my speed, I'll probably reach the University located in the Ortimac kingdom in four days, given I don't sleep in my travel.
I've only ran for around twenty minutes when I happened to find a girl with major injuries all over her body laying on the dirt road. After I stopped to help heal her, she introduced herself as Allice. I was about to take her back to her village when her attackers came out of the forest. by the looks of it, these guys seem to be a part of a hate group that targets demi-humans.
They tried to talk me in to giving Allice over to them, but when I pointed out the flaws in their reasonings, the leader became irate and started shouting hateful rhetoric that soured my mood. I felt a little better after I beat all of them up, and now I'm escorting Allice and the hate group back to her village.
I constructed a horse and carriage with my magic for faster travel with Allice and co. The horse is just a regular horse, but the carriage is made to be a cell constructed out of bones and skins of ogres. I thought is was fine, but Allice said it looked really scary. I felt a little bad for her, so I had her ride with me on the horse so she can avoid seeing the carriage.
After twenty minutes of travel we finally made it to Allice's village. It seems to be a big village with tall and sturdy looking wooden fencing, a good idea if you're planning to live in a dangerous place like this. Allice was not joking about the attack, because there are signs of a battle that took place outside of the gates.
As we make our way to the village, a guard that's cleaning up the arrows stuck on the wooden fence noticed us and alerted the other guards with him. They brandished swords and crossbows towards me, but once they saw that Allice was riding shot gun with me they hesitated to attack.
"A-Allice? Is that you?"
The guard that noticed us first asked hesitantly.
Allice: "Hi, Mr. Benji. Doctor Selk here saved me from the bad people that attacked us."
Allice answered the guard, clearing up the fact that I saved her life. After I handed over the carriage and the prisoners inside it over to the guards, I was invited by the villages chief to come over to their house. Turned out Allice was the granddaughter of the Village chief and he wants to thank me properly. I was going to decline since I have a long journey ahead of me, but when Allice looked at me with pleading eyes, I had no choice but to go to their house.
Chief Ammad: "So, my granddaughter here said you are a Doctor that uses Flesh Magic, right? How amazing, since flesh magic is said to be very unreliable in combat or even defensive situations. Yet she said you beat six people with a magical weapon made by flesh magic. Truly amazing."
The chief said as he recall what Allice told him.
Selk: "Thanks, but it's not really that amazing. I just did my research into how different creature's body parts can be combined to form a solid weapon. The hard part was creating the soul stone that will power the creatures or weapons I make. Took me almost a year to make one."
I replied to the chief's questioning statement. The chief looked like he was having trouble keeping up with what I was saying, so I decided to changed the subject and ask how Allice was captured. Since Allice was there with us in the room, the chief said that she should be the one to tell her story.
Allice: "W-well, I wanted to pick some pretty flowers to put at my parent's graves, so I went outside the village. When I got back, a fight was happening at the gates. The guards beat the group attacking us and killed a lot of them, but the six bad people that survived found me and ran away with me. That's when they took all my clothes and cut my hand off. They said they were selling me to a pervert that likes demi-human children. I was so scared."
Allice told us her horrific experience in the hands of the Hate group I beat up. Her crying face now makes me regret not killing all of them earlier. But then, Allice looked up at me as she wiped the tears from her eyes and said.
Allice: "But, I got away when they weren't paying attention and left my cage open. I ran and ran, and that's when Dr. Selk found and saved me. I'm so happy that Dr. Selk was there to help. Thank you very much, Dr. Selk."
She said with the brightest smile I've ever seen anyone make. Her smile would put the Goddess Zhitarine's smile to shame.
Meanwhile, in the realm of the Gods
Zhitarine: "Agh!"
Fabizaph: "Lady Zhitarine, Are you alright?"
Zhitarine: "Y-yes, I'm fine. I-it's just that I feel like Someone I love is bad mouthing me for some reason, and my heart couldn't take it."
Now, Back to Selk's POV.
After talking about the kidnapping incident I prevented, I told them that I need to be on my way, since I need to be at the University in six days. Just when the chief and I were about to shake hands and say our good byes, Allice forcefully stood up from her chair and declared something that left me and her grandfather speechless.
Allice: "I-I want to go with Dr. Selk. P-please, make me your Apprentice!"
Allice's POV.
My name is Allice Furrtrail, and I'm a ten year old girl from the Brownie race. Ever since my mother and father died when I was a baby, it's always been me and Grandad. I love my Grandad and my parents, and I put pretty flowers on my parent's graves every year to show how much I love them.
But this year, something bad happened. I was taken by bad people who hurt me, cut my hand that had our family crest off, and told me that they will sell me to a pervert in a far away place. But then, Dr. Selk came and rescued me. Dr. Selk looked like a hero prince in the fairy tales my grandad told me. He was so cool when he was fighting those bad guys, but was a little scary when he was about to kill the leader person. But, when I asked him to not kill the leader person, he listened to my request, so that means he's a really good person.
After that, Dr. Selk made a horse and scary carriage where he put the bad guys on. He let me ride the horse with me in front of him so I wouldn't see the scary carriage. We then talked for a little about his life. He told me he is just seventeen years old. Do people become doctors in that age? He also said that he and his friends fought in the Human vs Demon war for four years.
"I fought along side my friends until the war ended, but mostly I just supported them with my magic. I think the most I fought was at the final days of the war."
Dr. Selk said as we rode the horse. He also told me that he is going to the University to finally get a license to own a clinic. A dream he said he's had since he was little.
Dr. Selk is so amazing. he is so young, but he's done so much in his life. I want to be just like Dr. Selk. When we got to the village, some of the grown ups were cleaning the gate. Mr. Benji saw me and Dr. Selk, so I told him that Dr. Selk save my life.
Grandad then invited Dr. Selk to stay a little bit in our house. I could sense that Dr. Selk was planning on leaving then, so I gave him a look that says "Please stay for a bit", that made him say yes.
When the Doctor Got to our home, my Grandad thanked him for saving my life, and since I told Grandad about his powers, Grandad couldn't help but ask how Dr. Selk could use his powers. Dr. Selk then started talking about his powers, but since it sounded too complicated, I had a hard time understanding some of the things he said.
Dr. Selk's visit only lasted for maybe thirty minutes till he decided to say good bye to my Grandad and me. This is when I decided to announce what I really want to do.
Allice: "I-I want to go with Dr. Selk. P-please, make me your Apprentice!"
Chief Ammad: "A-Allice, what are you talking about? I don't think Selk would have the time to make you his apprentice since he's going to study in a university."
Selk: "Y-your grandfather's right, Allice. Besides, If you think that what I did back then was what my life is always like, then you'd be really bored with me. I'm a really boring person."
Dr. Selk said, trying to convince me to not go with him. But I've made up my mind, and I just need to say one thing to Grandad to let me be with Dr. Selk.
Allice: "Grandad, I want to take The Wonderer's Trial."
Chief Ammad: "The Wonderer's Trial? But you're just ten years old. You can only take that once you've become twelve to fifteen years old."
Allice: "Lier. You said your dad took it when he was just nine years old."
Grandad tried to lie about the age limit of who can go and take the Wonderer's Trial, but he forgot that he told me about great Grandad's own trail.
Selk: "I'm sorry, but what is this Wonderer's Trial you're talking about?"
Dr. Selk asked me and Grandad.
Chief Ammad: "I-it's a right of passage for our tribe that separated from the main Brownie kingdom. Young people from our tribe must go on a spiritual journey to find their own place in the world. Once they find it, they must comeback to the village and inform their family if they wish to come home to the village or live the life they have found outside of it."
Selk: "W-well, it's nice that you want to become more grown up, Allice, but where I'm going it might not be something you truly want for yourself. Why not think it through more in the next couple of years. If you still want to be my apprentice, you can come visit me at th..."
Dr. Selk stopped talking when he saw my crying face. When he asked why I was crying so hard and why I wanted to be his apprentice so much, I fought my tears and told him clearly...
Allice: "B-because I don't want people to lose their mama and papa the same way I did. Mama died giving birth to me. If there was a doctor like you around she would have lived. And if she was still alive, papa wouldn't have died of a broken heart. I want to be a doctor just like you so I can stop other kids from being sad like me."
I couldn't stop myself from saying all the things in my mind. Things that I've always wanted to say but couldn't because it would make Grandad sad. But now I have found what I really wanted to be in life, so I will never let it go.
Selk: "I understand. I will let you be my apprentice, but you have to get your grandfather's permission first."
Allice: "R-really, Dr. Selk? Grandad please let me go with Dr. Selk. I promise I'll become a really good doctor just like him."
I pleaded with Grandad after Dr. Selk agreed to take me in as his apprentice.
Chief Ammad: "A-alright. If that's how you truly feel, I guess you can take your trial as the doctor's apprentice. Just be sure to follow all of the good doctor's instructions and teachings, okay?"
Allice: "Y-yes, Grandad. I will, I will. Thank you, Grandad. I love you."
I thanked my Grandad as he allowed me to take my Wonderer's Trial as Dr. Selk's apprentice. Now, my adventure begins with the Amazing Dr. Selk.
Selk's POVI decided to have Allice become my apprentice after she relayed her true feelings to me. I could see the sincerity and determination in her ruby colored eyes. Since this decision was quite impulsive, I had no choice but to go back to my original plan of flying towards our destination. So, as Allice and her Grandfather are packing a few of her belongings, I prepared our transportation.I had to look for the carriage that I lent to the guards. Since the horse I created will only listen to my orders, I told it to go with the guard for now, but if I don't handle it directly it might go on a rampage since it still has a monster's soul stone in it.Once I found the carriage near the village jail, I quickly reform it to a new creature and shape. With my mana pool, it would be easy to create a new creature to fly us to Arcamac University, but it's even easier if I just reform the things I've already created. As the villagers gawk at how I use my magic, I reform the horse and carria
In the Basilan province located in Mindanao, Philippines, a group of doctors and health workers are holding up medical check ups and treatments for the local villagers that are unable to seek medical assistance from the city. Lead by Dr. Henry Solidor, a Filipino doctor, the doctors without borders and nurses treated all manner of illnesses.Henry: "And there you go, Sabel. Be careful next time you climb a tree. I might not be here if you need to stitch up your wound."Henry said to Sabel, a local nine year old girl from the village.Sabel: "I'm so sorry mister doctor. I promise to be careful. thank you very much."said Sabel with a beaming smile on her face despite the fact that she had just had her leg sown up with eight stiches. She then gave the doctor a hug before she went on her merry way as her raven locks bounced along with her steps.Sabrina: "Well, aren't you popular with the girls here, Henry."Sabrina Marks said with a mischievous smile on her face. Sabrina is one of the t
Henry is visibly confused on what is now transpiring around him. He was just killed in a fierce battle with a terrorist organization, and now he is floating in mid air in the nude along with four other people."Our apologies for what might be a confusing scenario for you all. My name is Zhitarine, Goddess of light. We have plucked the five of you from the dead to become the champions of our world, Marracord."One of the seven Gigantic humanoids, as tall as a fifteen story building, said as it introduced itself as the Goddess Zhitarine. She is at the center of the seven gathered Gods, and she can be described as a giant beautiful woman wearing a flowing pure white one piece dress with a plunging neck line that goes all the way down the bottom of her navel barely covering her ample chest. A golden belt hugs her hips to keep the dress in place. And floating behind her head is a golden halo that looks like an image of the sun that gives her visage an even more divine presence."May I ask
Once Goddess Zhitarine informed the champions of the family and status where they will be born into, she then announced that they can now choose the Gods they will be representing. However, she asked the champions to first formally introduce themselves to one another to solidify their bonds. After their introductions to one another, the rest were surprised to learn that Henry is the only one that doesn't have any military, counter intelligence, or combat occupation. Rather, he is someone in the medical fields.Victor: "Wait, so you had to fight off Abu Sayyaf members all by yourself to save your medical team? How? I thought doctors were trained to do no harm?"Victor questioned, as he can't believe that a civilian could go up against train terrorist like he did.Henry: "W-well, I was taught by my older brother who was in the military when I was young. My family and I lived in Nevada when I was young where my brother was stationed. When I was twelve, he taught me how to handle pistols
In the borders of Verdant, there is a vast forested area that is home to a multitude of creatures and races. It is here where we find our selves following a small girl as she staggers with her steps. Seemingly dressed in rags, her body is battered and wounded, as a torn cloth covers the bloody stump that used to be her right hand. The young girl made her way out the forest and stumbled upon a man made road that travelers uses to make their way from the kingdom of Verdant to the multiple villages that are situated between the border of the Raibaran continent and the demonic continent. The girl is now limping along the road curtesy of a large cut on her lower leg. She heads north as she follows the road, hoping to come across a town to get herself the help she desperately needs. However, the toll of her injuries has finally caught up to her, and before she knew it, she has fainted in the middle of the road.As the little girl's body forced her to rest in the middle of the dirt road she
