The Unbelievable

"O my goodness, this is not happening... Is this really happening? It can't be! O my gosh!" Gabriel mumbled as he drove off immediately on high speed heading back home to Briston street in Hanford.

[Screeching sounds]

"Why the f*ck is he driving roughly?" A friend of his asked the rest of them in the group when they saw him riding back home recklessly.

"If you ask me, I don't know, Shelley. C'mon, guys, let's go check on our dude, know if he's alright. He doesn't seem okay." The leader of the group replied, dipping his hands in his hood pocket as he led the way.

"You're right, Lancelot." Freeman added as all six of them walked towards Gabriel's compound who had already gone inside the house the minute he parked the car upon arrival.

"Gabriel! We know you're in there. C'mon, open up!" Lancelot yelled authoritatively after banging on the door for three minutes to no avail.

"He should have responded by now." Bell said.

"I don't think this dude is okay. Let's go. Maybe check up on him some other time." Shelley asserted gently. He seems to be the coolheaded one amongst them.

"I disagree with you, Shelley. What if he is trying to commit suicide? You know he hasn't been himself ever since we mocked him yesterday. He's been avoiding us." Tom analyzed.

"Shut the f*ck up, Tom! If he wanted to, he should have done that before returning home. Why would you even think of such a thing? Damn!" Freeman rumbled with a husky tone.

"I'm sorry man!" Freeman apologized.

"Hey, I don't want anyone saying shit right now. If this dude wanted suicide, y'all know he would have done that ever since his mom left his dad." Rodriguez muttered and knocked on the door again... "Open up, Gabriel! We know you're in there." Lancelot exclaimed and they all kept calling.

Gabriel heard them all the while they were knocking crazily and chattering outside, but he did not respond because he was busy staring at himself in the mirror.

[Gunshots]

Boom boom rat ta ta ta tah tah boom boom!...

"Come on, open up, dude! Help us!" Rodriguez yelled and his voice echoed through Gabriel's window, causing him to leave the front of the mirror immediately and open up. Their rivals were about a mile away, heading towards them and shooting rapidly in the air, they knew it was going to be brutal if they should have their eyes on them... Gabriel's dad, Winston Gray, has no clue his son has been involving himself in some gang clash, although everyone is aware of the disruption in the neighborhood ever since the government of the State had failed to ensure adequate security.

"Sh*t men! You almost got us killed!" Tom panicked the second he entered the house and shut the door. Gabriel and the rest peeped through the window a minute after Gabriel had opened the door, letting them all in. He could sense the hearts of each one of them throbbing for fear as they watched those trucks drive across the street. He knew he had just saved their ass's because none of them had any weapon on them, and those guys look like they were going to kill anyone they see around. They've been terrorizing Hanford for a month now because the police department was under lockdown after a rebel group revolting against the government of California burnt the station down and made away with classified weapons.

"What the f*ck was that, Gabriel? Those guys were after you and you did not alert us on time. Why? Do you really think we would not have helped? C'mon men!" Lancelot nagged, questioning him and almost followed him upstairs to his room when he stopped him,

"No, Lancelot! No! They weren't after me. Those guys just showed up not quite long. If they were after me, they would have drove into the compound, besides the car I came with is parked out there in the open, so get over it and stay put. Make yourselves comfortable, I need to be alone!" Gabriel sputtered, redirecting Lancelot back to the sitting room whilst he was on his way up the stairs to his room.

"What's up with Gabriel?" Tom asked.

"I don't even understand that dude anymore. Wait, are we to wait for Gabriel or leave, check on him some other time?" Freeman asked.

"I think we should leave. Y'all knows his dad is coming back home this evening and it's three hours to sundown." Bell suggested as they waited for Lancelot to decide.

"Yeah, sure. But we have to know what Gabriel is up to. Y'all could attest to the fact that he always keeps things to himself when he begins to act dodgy, trying to avoid a conversation with us." Lancelot opined.

"Uhmm... You are right, but we also know he will tell us what's going on later on. So, I think we should let him alone. Besides we have not been so friendly to him in the past few days, yet he was kind enough to let us in. Why not we give him space for now and just focus on our unfinished business?" Rodriguez sputtered, asking Lancelot directly to make him listen to the general suggestions.

"Rodriguez is right, Lancelot. Let's give him time to heal." Shelley added. Lancelot thought about it for a while and accepted. He rose up from the couch he was sitting and ordered, saying,

"Let's be on our way then."

Gabriel was sitting in his room and staring at Optimus, wishing it had not sparked when he heard the door that was slammed downstairs. He wanted to believe that his friends were gone, he tiptoed towards the stairs to be sure...

"O thank God!" He exclaimed with a whisper and went back up to his room. After a while of constantly trying to figure out what got burnt inside Optimus, he fell asleep on his bed because there was no more hope left that the project, Optimus, would succeed. The price for the damages were much.

His dad returned that evening and came to his room to check up on him, and when he saw him sleeping with his shoes on, he helped remove it and ensure Gabriel was lying down properly before he called it a night and retired to his own room.

Gabriel opened his eyes feeling so tired and when he tried getting up, he felt he had added some weight, he struggled to grab his phone to know what time it is.

...what!... He exclaimed in his mind because it was past seven in the morning and he slept by four in the evening of the previous day.

"Wow! What the f*ck!" He screamed the minute he saw a message on his cell phone and a credit alert to his bank account.
