Chapter 88

The man returned as Aliyah was nearly done stripping me out of my snow gear. "Dear Ruler in Paradise. You're only several young ladies. What on earth would you say you were doing out in that tempest?"

"We were made a beeline for Whitefish. That is where I was told to go," I told him, realizing it wasn't precisely on, since we were going north and I thought Whitefish was south.

"Who advised you to go out in this climate?" he asked, sounding concerned. For reasons unknown, I was experiencing difficulty concocting a response and Aliyah wasn't focusing on him, zeroing in on me and completing the errand of assisting me with stripping my colder time of year gear off.

I surmise the man concluded he won't find a solution and strolled once more into what resembled the kitchen. "Mama, we have visitors for supper," he yelled when he got in there.
