Chapter 60

Jake: (pauses) Samara, I have to tell you something too—something that might surprise you.

Samara: (curiously) What is it, Jake?

Jake: (hesitantly) I was the one who talked to Michael. I didn't tell you because, well, I wasn't sure if it would work out. But I saw how much pain you were in, and I wanted to help. I didn't want you to carry that burden alone anymore.

Samara: (shocked but grateful) Jake, I had no idea! Thank you so much! You don't know how much that means to me.

Jake: (smiling) Of course, Samara. I care about you, and I want to see you happy. And...I have to admit, it was nice to see Michael again. We talked about old times, and it was good.

Samara: (smiling too) That's wonderful, Jake. Maybe we can have dinner together sometime soon?

Jake: (laughs) I'd like that, Samara. It would be nice to catch up with Michael and see how you're doing too.

Samara: (gratefully) Thank you, Jake. I really appreciate your support. You've been a true friend to me during this difficult time.
