“What?!” Diane’s voice rang with disbelief at the outrageous accusation. “I did no such thing!”

“Yes, you did!” Brianna shrieked, her desperation palpable. “I know you did!”

Donald clenched his fists, struggling to keep his composure.

David chuckled darkly. “Did you hear that, Dad? It’s obvious Diane must have sold herself to make this happen. And a girl like that? She can’t possibly handle a deal of this magnitude. Let Ethan take over the meeting. He won’t disappoint you.”

Ethan smirked, nodding confidently.

“No!” Diane shook her head vehemently. “Grandpa, you have to believe me! I would never do something like that!”

Margaret scoffed. “Oh, just like your father swore he never embezzled company funds? And look how that turned out. The disgrace of the Lancaster family runs in your blood.”

Donald let out a sharp laugh, his eyes cold as he surveyed the room. “False accusations, that’s all you people know how to do. It’s no surprise your children turned out like this, David.

At a quiet local café, Leon and Dante Cole sat across from each other. It was Leon who had called for this meeting, but Dante was the first to break the silence.“Did you see the news, Leon?” Dante asked, his tone laced with disbelief. “The head surgeon at St. Pete laughed it off. He said it was impossible. A healing unlike anything the world has ever seen? It defies logic.”Leon leaned back, entirely unbothered. “A mere person can’t perform such a feat.” He lifted his gaze. “But Azrael can.”Dante’s brow furrowed. “So… you believe it?”Leon gave a lazy shrug. “I don’t need to believe. There are things in this world you mortals have yet to witness. Sooner or later, your eyes will be forced open.”Dante blinked, caught off guard by Leon’s choice of words. “Okay… are you getting weirder or what?” He shook his head before shifting topics. “Anyway, I heard you and Isabella are divorced. And—this is just hospital gossip—but apparently, Julian Hayes lost the girl he likes… to Isabella Hartw

Pain. That was all Leon could feel in his mortal vessel.Leon clenched his jaw, anger flaring in his eyes as Dante struggled to lift him. “Damn it! Where the hell is the ambulance?” Dante’s voice was frantic, filled with concern. “Leon, stay awake. Just stay with me, alright?”Leon could hear him, could hear the panic in his voice, but it was irrelevant. With a slow, deliberate breath, he muttered, “Get me out of here.”“What?” Dante blurted, his grip tightening. “No! This is where we told the paramedics to come. You need to stay put. Don’t talk, don’t move—just focus on breathing. In and out, alright? Stay conscious.” He eased Leon onto a chair, his hands hovering anxiously.Leon met his gaze, his expression laced with both pain and exasperation.“Why, of all people, did you have to be the one to get shot?” Dante muttered, feeling frustrated.Leon swallowed hard, his voice steady despite the pain. “I’ll be fine. Just… get me out of here.”Dante gawked at him. “Fine?” he echoed in di

Jarvis stiffened, his eyes widening. “What?”Leon stepped forward. “Don’t act so surprised. Someone was watching me. I expected it to be you, but no… there was another. And because of that misstep, I was shot.” He reached the desk, placing a hand on it as he leaned in slightly. “A mortal managed to pull one over on me. That alone is disgraceful.”Jarvis swallowed hard, watching Leon carefully as he tried to make sense of who he really was. There was a reason he had someone tailing him, and that was because he knew Leon was just… something… something dangerous. The blow Leon had given him… he still felt it in his bones, and Jarvis had the unnerving certainty that Leon had held back. If he hadn’t… his ribs would have been shattered. And his son…Jarvis had watched Leon diagnose his son with nothing more than a glance. He healed his son even without medicine. It only confirmed what Jarvis already suspected.Leon Ashford, or rather, Azrael, was not normal.Jarvis inhaled deeply, knowing t

Yet, no one knew exactly what they were about to witness which put them all on edge.Among the invited were the Hartwells, their presence secured due to their social standing. But Isabella’s thoughts were elsewhere. Days had passed, and Leon had not returned home. She hadn’t heard from him, not even a call. The day before the highly anticipated event, Leon had been at Jarvis’ mansion. And while he had every right to, he didn't want to. Not yet.Standing before the full-length mirror in what he had claimed as his godly chamber, he stared at his reflection with an air of detached amusement. Then he muttered, “Mortals… even without power, they have always been dangerous, anyway.”A knock at the door pulled him from his thoughts. Without waiting for permission, the door creaked open, revealing Jason.“H-Hi, um… my dad asked me to get you,” Jason said hesitantly. “He’s downstairs. He took a step closer, towering over her as he continued, “Now think about this, if I decided to report this little stunt to the police, I could easily make these men back me up. Imagine the headlines: daughter of a known criminal caught committing a felony. Your father’s reputation is already in the gutter. Add yours to it, and you’ll be finished. That was over a year ago. Why are you digging up something that should stay buried and rotten?” he said, his tone dripping with condescension. “Face it, Diane. We have to be strategic about this. Our plans didn't work the first time, and it’s imperative that Diane closes this deal with Mr. Grave before we make another move. She’s our only access to that contract.”“Well, I still don't like that she's getting such an opportunity,” Brianna replied, clearly irritated. “You know this isn't just about getting the contract, it’s the prestige, the access, the spotlight. Why should she get that kind of privilege before me? It’s insulting.”Ethan slowed his pace as he approached his car, pausing beside it with a furrowed brow. “Well, she won’t be flaunting anything if she’s no longer breathing. I mean, think about Dana. Leon stood still, eyes fixed on Johnathan’s body lying lifeless on the floor of the clinic ward. His mind was spinning. His brain tried to piece together what just happened, but it was like grasping smoke. ‘Something killed him…’ the thought echoed through Leon’s mind like a slow tolling bell. He watched as Johnathan’s skin lost every bit of color, his features hollowing unnaturally fast. His body stiffened, rigor mortis setting in much too quickly. It looked like he’d been dead for months, not minutes. Just then, the door slammed open and Jarvis and Dante stepped in, both stopping short at the sight in front of them. “Oh my God!” Dante gasped, his voice laced with disbelief and horror. “He’s dead! He’s…” His words stumbled as his eyes locked onto the body. “Damn, he’s…” he trailed off, unable to finish the sentence. Whatever he was about to say got caught in his throat. “He was a dead man walking,” Leon said flatly, his eyes still locked on the corpse. His mind was elsewhere, tu

At Apex Clinic, Leon sat behind his desk, eyes narrowed in deep thought. Something wasn’t right, and he could feel it in his bones. There was a disturbance he couldn’t ignore, something festering just beneath the surface. If he didn’t get to the bottom of it soon, it would keep gnawing at him.The dark energy surrounding Johnathan Kells had been undeniable. It was the same one he’d seen before, specifically in Daniel Mercer’s leg. That couldn’t be a coincidence.Letting out a deep sigh, Leon muttered to himself, “Whatever this is… I don’t recognize the signature, but I know one thing—it’s not good.”His phone began to ring, pulling him out of his thoughts. He glanced at the screen. Itwas Diane. He answered.“I can’t believe it, Leon!” Diane’s voice rang through the speaker, filled with excitement.“What?” Leon asked, his expression still shadowed with confusion.“I thought I was done for,” Diane said quickly. “My grandpa said I had to hand over the opportunity you gave me to my cousin

I need to speak to him, because I’m not going to sit here and be harassed by… someone like you. A self-proclaimed healer who thinks waving needles makes him God.” Unfazed, Leon let out a low chuckle. “Those words are coming from a place of fear, and that’s why you can't admit it. Jarvis isn't gonna help you here, so I suggest you to tell me the source of why you've been a dead man walking.” Johnathan shook his head violently. “I’m not telling you anything because there’s nothing to tell! Maybe it’s a fluke.” Leon couldn’t suppress another chuckle, clearly amused. “I don’t need

Something didn’t add up.“Wait,” he said, pointing at the note. “Did you examine him recently or is this accurate? Because it’s written here that the patient has exceeded the expected survival window by approximately three months.”Dante sighed, and replied, “Yeah, I examined him myself. It’s strange.
