Duncan clasped his hands together. “We managed to get many positive comments about the company on the website, which overpowered the terrible rumors. Many mothers whose kids had worked with us also gave testimonials,” he began.

“A fan of one of our voice actors helped too. She’s an influencer and made positive remarks, which created a trend that other influencers followed. This caught the attention of TV stations, which used the evidence to produce stories for newspapers and magazines.

“The TV station even came to the company to investigate, bringing along a few detectives, but they found nothing. After all the investigations, we were proven ‘not guilty,’ which silenced those who had slandered us.

“We were also able to get apologies from those who had spread the rumors. It made me wonder why they believed such claims in the first place. The evidence provided by the source wasn’t all that convincing. I suppose the source had enough persuasive skills to pull it off.”

Tedmond nodded in a

In the office, Tedmond sighed as he removed his jacket and placed it on the back of his chair before sitting down. His gaze lingered on the door he had just walked through. He still couldn’t fathom why they had the audacity to wait for him outside the company as if they were close acquaintances.Thomas’s words echoed in his mind: “Did you give off the vibe that you might be interested in their daughter?”“Give off the vibe that I’m interested in their daughter?” Tedmond muttered, arching a brow.He reflected on every interaction he’d had with Mr. Washington and his family. He hadn’t done anything to suggest interest in their daughter. So why were they being so persistent?“Did you forget how crazy they are, Tedmond?” he asked himself aloud. It might not make sense to normal people, but the Griffins believed they could get whatever they wanted if they set their minds to it. He groaned. He needed to deal with them quickly and ensure they never got access to Xinca again. They had caused e

"Low family like yours?" The words echoed in the minds of both father and daughter."How dare you call my family a low family?" Harold demanded. "Do you know what the Griffin family has achieved?"Lora shook her head. "Nope. I have no idea what the Griffin family has achieved because, as far as I know, they haven't achieved anything."Her tone was more polite than any other words she'd said, and the fact that it wasn’t sarcasm drove Maxine crazy.Maxine stepped closer to Lora, a grin on her face. Without warning, she jabbed her finger into Lora's chest."You must have heard the news. I’m dating your boss, and as long as we’re together, I am above you," Maxine declared confidently, her voice devoid of hesitation.Lora's jaw tightened. She couldn’t believe it. The rumors had only just begun to spread, and now Maxine was claiming authority over someone who had managed Xinca for years before the real president arrived."I don’t know if you lack manners or if you’re just dumb," Lora replie

Tedmond’s brows arched as soon as the words left her lips. She had an innocent look on her face, her smile curling at the edges of her lips. He couldn’t understand why she would be smiling in such a situation.“Are you always this clumsy?” Tedmond asked. She nodded. “I tend to struggle with controlling my body. It’s more like a medical condition—it was mentioned in my résumé,” she replied, rising to her feet and gathering the scattered files again. This time, it took her less than ten seconds to collect them.‘A medical condition?’ Tedmond thought. If that were true, her skills must be exceptional for the company to have retained her despite the condition. As long as she stayed seated and focused on her work, nothing could hinder her performance.Yet, he couldn’t understand why Lora had recommended her as his support. He also noticed that she had referred to Lora informally earlier, and he couldn’t help but ask.“You referred to Lora informally,” Tedmond said. “Are…”“Oh.” Isabella ga

A loud thud resonated in the hallway, startling Persis and Lora. They both snapped their heads toward the source of the noise, and Persis' eyes widened in shock. Standing in the hallway were Tedmond and Isabella.Tedmond was holding Isabella by the waist from behind, stopping her from falling, while a tablet lay on the floor—the apparent source of the noise. Their position was awkward for everyone present.Ten minutes prior:“You’re all stitched up,” Tedmond said, peering at the woman sitting in the chair in the infirmary. The nurse, still in the room, had just finished tending to Isabella’s injury. She wore a curious expression, wondering why the president himself had brought Isabella to the infirmary.“I heard he has a lover. I don’t think Isabella is the one,” the nurse thought.“Thanks for bringing me here, Mr. Washington,” Isabella muttered. “I thought I might bleed for a long time before getting here.”“It was nothing,” Tedmond replied. After she had fallen, he had gone back to

As soon as Isabella and Lora were out of sight, Tedmond turned his gaze to Persis. She was pouting, her expression accusatory as she stared at him.“What?” Tedmond asked, confused by her reaction.“What do you mean, what?” she snapped. “My fiancé was holding another woman by the waist, and you expect me to stay quiet about it?”Tedmond raised his brows. “We’re technically fake, though,” he countered without thinking. The words hit her hard, and she glared at him. She knew their engagement wasn’t real, but he didn’t have to rub it in her face. Her glare intensified.“It isn’t technically fake. It’s temporary. Since we’re having an engagement party, it can’t be called fake,” she retorted firmly. He studied her face, trying to read her expression, but all he could see was the deep frown etched on her features. He didn’t understand why she seemed so invested in their act. It felt as though she wanted the engagement to be real—after all, she’d been the one to propose to him first.“Fine. L

"I don’t listen to gossip," the receptionist cut Maxine off, her tone cool and dismissive.Hearing the receptionist talk to her like she didn’t matter, Maxine finally lost it. She glared at the woman, realizing her lies didn’t seem to have any effect."Even if you don’t listen to the rumors about me and your boss, you should at least acknowledge them while I’m standing here," Maxine snapped, her glare intensifying. "What made you think you can treat your president’s lover like this?"The receptionist raised an eyebrow, confusion flickering across her face. Then she shook her head. "Do you have an appointment to meet with the president? Or did the vice president stop you and think I could help you?"Maxine flinched at the remark, and the receptionist smirked."What do you mean?" Maxine demanded, awkwardly. "Why would the president stop me? Hmph. Never mind. It’s not like you could do anything."With that, Maxine turned to leave but paused and returned to the receptionist’s desk. "What’

Maxine's eyes widened in shock when she saw who it was. Persis strolled into the office majestically, her hair flowing behind her as she walked. She looked like a model who had just stepped off a magazine cover. Her light brown eyes shimmered, making her appear even more radiant.‘An angel?’ Maxine thought, taken aback by the beauty standing before her.Harold, on the other hand, had his jaw dropped. ‘As long as she is here, there’s no way he’ll look at Maxine, he thought. If she’s his fiancée, then we’re done for.’“You must be the one spreading nasty rumors about my fiancé,” Persis said, walking toward Tedmond and standing beside his seat. “You wanted to offer me an apology? Let me hear it.”Maxine snapped out of her trance and peered at Persis again. This time, all her confidence drained. With Persis, who was more beautiful than her, present, Maxine couldn’t rely on her looks as a source of confidence anymore.“I’m sorry for spreading such rumors about your fiancé,” Maxine said, he

He had wanted to find other evidence apart from what Mr. Washington had given him. There was no way he could rely on him forever. He still had to do his own work. The assistant nodded and handed Duncan a file. “The tech team tracked the source of the rumors to an anonymous online account. But it wasn’t completely anonymous—there were traces leading back to the Griffin family.”Duncan clenched his fists, his jaw tightening. “I knew it. Just like Mr. Washington said. Those Griffins can’t leave well enough alone.”At that moment, his elder brother, Bryan, walked into the office. Dressed in a tailored suit and radiating authority, Bryan studied Duncan with a raised brow.“You look like you’ve been through a war,” Bryan said, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. “Is running GNN really that stressful? I thought you’d enjoy having the power.”Bryan wore a wide grin. The company had initially been his, but he had handed it over to Duncan. It was supposed to be an entertainment company, but Dunc

There, he saw Tina storming toward him, a scowl darkening her face. Before he could process what was happening, she grabbed him by the collar and yanked him down to her height, her hand raised threateningly.“I asked you a question! How dare you ignore me?” she snapped, swinging her hand toward his face. But before she could land the slap, Tedmond caught her wrist mid-air. He hadn’t expected the attack, but there was no way he’d let her hit him—not anymore. He wasn’t the same person who used to stand still and take it.“What the hell is this supposed to be?” Tedmond demanded, a deep frown forming on his face."You—!" Her scowl deepened. “How dare you grab my hand? Do you have a death wish or something?!”“Death wish?” he echoed with a bitter chuckle. “No. I’ve just finally learned to stop letting people treat me like trash.”Tina’s eyes widened, taken aback by the calm defiance in his voi

Ottis had told her everything that happened, and she wasn’t about to let Tedmond off the hook. But first, she needed to make sure Ottis got the blood he needed to recover. She could come back for Tedmond later.“Let’s go, Mother,” Adeline said, holding Vivian’s hand. “The doctor's office is over there. Let's get you tested.”Vivian nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.”As Adeline and Vivian headed off, Adeline turned around to give the others a subtle sign. A grin spread across her face when they nodded in response. They had understood her signal. Once she took the old lady away, Tedmond would be alone—and they could teach him a lesson.Tedmond, who had been watching, noticed Adeline’s signal. A sly grin tugged at his lips.‘I can’t wait to see wh

Hearing that question was enough to make Max boil with anger. He knew Tedmond was taking advantage of their grandmother’s favoritism, but he hadn’t expected it to go this far.Max’s lips parted, ready to retort, but before he could get a word out, Vivian cut him off.“There’s no need to argue. Like Tedmond said, he’s your little brother, and you have to take care of him,” she said. “Instead of letting him drive, you’ll drive.”That was when Max remembered this had happened before—only back then, he had been the one in the backseat while Tedmond was asked to drive.Biting his lip until it bled, Max couldn’t hide his frustration. Now the roles were reversed, and he was the one being asked to drive. As far as Max could recall, his grandmother had always treated him better than anyone else in the family. It had always felt natural for her to take his side. But now that her attention had shifted to Tedmond, it seemed like she no longer cared about him.‘I’m not going to accept this,’ Max t

Tedmond had seen Max angry before, but never this angry. This was the first time Max had yelled so much that he didn’t let anyone else speak.‘Was it because Grandma said she was going to give me the heir position?’ he wondered.“You think you’re better than me?” Max seethed. “You think you can just smile and pretend you’re the good guy? You’re not. You’re a snake. A bastard. A nobody trying to take my place.”Max took another step forward, now just inches from Tedmond’s face.“If you think I’m going to let this go… you’re dead wrong,” he said in a low, venomous tone. “You better watch your back, because I swear—I’ll make you regret ever stepping into this family.”Vivian, who was standing beside them, glared at Max, furious that he was saying things completely against her wishes.“That’s enough, Max!” Vivian scolded. “Go back to where you were standing.”Max whipped his head toward her, eyes bloodshot. “No! You don’t get to silence me! You started this—you betrayed me! Don’t expect m

Silence filled the room. No one had expected the grandmother to offer the position of heir to Tedmond so casually—just a few words, and everything changed.Max’s eyes widened in disbelief, his face draining of color. He knew his grandmother suffered from amnesia, but he hadn’t imagined she’d go this far—handing over his rightful place to someone like Tedmond. Not only was she willing to give away everything he had worked for, she was also casting aside her own grandson.Lisa was just as stunned, her mouth hanging open. She had never imagined this would be how Max lost everything.“You can’t do that, Grandma!” Max suddenly shouted, rising from his seat. His face was livid. “How could you give my position to him like that?!”Even Tedmond, the man at the center of it all, looked taken aback. He blinked, his lips parting slightly. Sure, he knew Grandma Vivian liked him now—thanks to the amnesia—but he hadn’t expected this. Not in a million years.“That’s right!” Lisa added quickly, standi

Max’s head snapped to the side from the force of the slap. A red handprint bloomed on his cheek, and his eyes flew wide with shock.Tedmond's brows lifted in surprise, his gaze settling on Max. Then, slowly, a satisfied smirk curled his lips. All he had to do was provoke Max into cursing him, and the slap would follow. He was a genius.Lisa, still stunned, immediately rose to her feet, her eyes darting to the source of the slap.“Who the hell is that bitch who dared to touch—” Her words cut off abruptly when she saw who it was. Her face instantly paled. “Grandmother…?”Hearing the word, Max’s head snapped toward the direction of the voice to confirm if it was truly her. There she stood, tall and imposing, a deep frown creasing her elegant face.Vivian Griffin. “Is this supposed to be a restaurant?” Tedmond asked himself, his brows furrowing. The place looked old and dirty. The walls were cracked, and some parts were black from dirt. The sign above the door was broken. One of the letters didn’t light up, and the rest blinked like it could go off at any time. The front door was small and dusty. The wood looked weak, like it could break if someone pushed hard. A broken doorbell was hanging by the side, and it didn’t have a button. There were two trash bins near the door. One was open, and a bad smell came from it.Old posters were stuck on the wall, but they were ripped and dirty. The windows had marks all over them, and the blinds inside were hanging the wrong way. “What is this place?” he said, looking at his phone again to check the address. The address was the same as the one Max had sent him, indicating that he hadn’t gone to the wrong place. But no matter how much he thought about it, the place he was standing in front of wasn’t where

Neil’s eyes darted to Tedmond, brows furrowing. Tedmond had told him to stick close to Max and make sure he didn’t go near Persis—but now Max was heading straight toward them, and Neil hadn’t even noticed until it was too late.“Tedmond is going to kill me,” Neil thought. He shot to his feet and rushed after Max, grabbing his hand. “Where are you going?” he asked, shaking his head in disbelief.Max glanced at Neil, then looked away. “You should go back to your seat, Alicia. I don’t want to trouble you too much.”Neil sighed and let him go. In three seconds, he was back in his seat while Max reached the table where Tedmond sat.Tedmond looked up as a shadow loomed over him, only to find Max standing there. Without a word, Max pulled out a chair and sat down next to Lisa like it was the most natural thing in the world. Tedmond looked at Finn. He had just arrived on campus and hadn’t even done anything yet, and still, he was bombarded by Finn—someone who clearly had no idea how to read the room before acting.Giving Finn a blank stare, Tedmond genuinely wondered if he was just stupid. Not only did Finn fail to read the atmosphere, but he also just said the most ridiculous thing ever. This wasn’t the first time Tedmond had eaten in the cafeteria. It wasn’t even the second. The only reason he had avoided the cafeteria in the past was because it was one of the main places Max and his friends had humiliated him the most.He hadn’t wanted them to do something to his food and make him eat it.So, he’d stayed away—not because he couldn’t afford the meals that only cost a few bucks—but to protect himself.“What the hell are you talking about now?” Persis asked, frowning as she looked at Finn. “Don’t tell me you came to join the table just to say that?”She was already irritated that Lisa was at the table, ev
