"That's right. You should hand over the evidence," Adeline added.

She was more worried about getting the evidence than crying over the shares that were no longer theirs.

Duncan said nothing, nor did he show any expression. He already knew they would ask for the evidence, so he pulled out one of the drives containing it.

"Here it is," he said, holding the drive out for them to take.

Adeline wasted no time snatching the drive from him and putting it into her purse. She needed to check its contents first.

Duncan, on the other hand, wasn’t bothered—he had plenty of copies at his disposal.

"Thanks for choosing to take the shares and not expose us," Frank said. "However, you’ll have to attend the meeting in two hours. We need to introduce you to the other shareholders."

Since he wasn’t the one going, Duncan simply nodded. "Tell me the time of the meeting."

As soon as he said that, a grin spread across Gerald’s face. Duncan was going to hate the reason for agreeing to the meeting.

The place went silent at the sound of Adeline’s voice as if a golden goose had flown by. Adeline crooked her head, trying to look at Tedmond’s face perfectly. She expected him to be squirming, trying to plead with her to let him off as long as he left. But instead, her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the look on his face.Tedmond’s grin widened. “Childish games? Aunt Adeline, if anyone is playing games here, it’s you all.”Silence fell over the room. A few shareholders exchanged glances, while Gerald’s jaw tightened.Frank narrowed his eyes. “What are you talking about?”“I am the one you all have been waiting for,” Tedmond replied, his tone serious. “Shouldn’t you be glad that I am here?”Frank and Adeline frowned even harder.“Stop beating around the bush and get out!” Tina snarled, having had enough. “You aren’t part of the Griffin family anymore since you left. We have nothing to do with you.”“That’s right. Stop barging into the meeting room and acting like you are importan

As soon as Duncan stepped into the conference room, every head turned to look at him. Seeing Duncan there, Frank’s brows furrowed. This was the same man who had tried to rat them out just a day ago.Now he was in the same meeting as them, while Tedmond claimed shares. If they showed any terrible behavior, Duncan might record it and add it to his growing evidence collection.“You should leave, Tedmond,” Frank said, peering at him with a serious expression. “I have no idea why you’re lying about the shares, but we’ll talk about it tomorrow. Right now, we need to take care of our new shareholder, and you’re sitting in the seat meant for him. It would be better if you left.”At that moment, Duncan didn’t wait for anyone to speak before he made his announcement. “I gave the shares to him as a gift,” he revealed. The entire room fell into stunned silence.Every member of the Griffin family stared at Duncan, their eyes wide with disbelief. Adeline’s face turned so pale she looked like she mi

Duncan’s gaze shifted to Tedmond, a silent question in his eyes. Was he going to back down, or was he finally going to stand his ground? He had no idea why Mr. Washington had asked him to hand the shares to the members of the Griffin family. To Duncan, the first time he had heard about Tedmond was when Mr. Washington mentioned him. When he went to meet the Tedmond in question, he was surprised to find how similar they looked. The first thing he noticed was the familiar blue eyes and height. For a moment, he wondered if Mr. Washington was affiliated with the Griffin family. But on second thought, he dismissed the idea—he didn’t want to doubt Mr. Washington. If Mr. Washington had wanted his help, he would have told him.Tedmond met Tina’s gaze, then slowly stood up. “You’re right. I don’t have a place in this family,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “But I do have these shares now. And whether you like it or not, that makes me a part of this company.”A tense silence filled the room.

“Did you just mention my mother?” Tedmond demanded, glaring at them with sharp intensity. He had considered ignoring them and walking away, but he hadn’t expected them to bring his mother into the conversation. It wasn’t the first time, yet it never failed to make his blood boil. How dare they bring her up after everything they had done to her?And why was it that he and his mother were the ones blamed for his existence, while Harold got to walk around free, untouched by their judgment? The look on Tedmond’s face made Frank and the others flinch. It was the first time they had seen him like this. In the past, he would have been the one looking terrified, avoiding their gaze.Feeling annoyed that she had flinched at Tedmond’s glare, Adeline opened her mouth to speak, but he didn’t give her the chance.“Did you just bring my mother into this discussion?” Tedmond repeated, stepping forward, his glare unwavering. “Didn’t Max tell you what happened the last time he mentioned my mother?”

Looking at Persis, Tedmond couldn’t help but wonder what she was talking about. She had just mentioned his father's company, and he had no idea what might be wrong with it.Since Duncan's silence had been bought with shares and the other external family members had intervened, the company was safe. For now.Tedmond still had a debt in the company’s name, and the interest would keep rising to the point where they wouldn’t be able to pay it back. When that time came, he would claim the company like it was the natural thing to do.On second thought, he realized he should have gone to the family home to see the expression on his father’s face. But it was better for him not to go while the others were there. That would be too much noise and trouble. He didn’t think he could stand all of them at once.“What interesting thing is about to happen?” Tedmond asked Persis, his brows furrowing in curiosity.“Harold is trying to make Max and Kyle friends again,” Persis replied, the look on her face

At the Griffin Mansion the next morning…The Griffin family slowly gathered in the living room. Harold, on the other hand, looked at each of them in confusion. He had no idea why they had all shown up at his house. They had arrived at midnight, leaving him no chance to ask them their reason for coming. This time, Max was home, but he would soon be heading out for his lectures.“So, tell me why you’re all here,” Harold said once everyone had settled in. “Did something happen?”With a frown on her face, Adeline parted her lips.“Well, we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for that bastard son of yours!”At the mention of Tedmond, Max’s brows furrowed.‘Tedmond again?’Max hated whenever Tedmond was the topic of discussion. It was either them mocking Tedmond or comparing the two of them.“You mean Tedmond?” Harold asked, his brows knitting together.“Which other bastard son do you have?” Evelyn questioned.Harold glanced at her. “I had to ask since there was no way you would have run into Ted

As soon as the words rolled out of Richard’s lips, everyone present turned their heads to glare at him. Although he spoke about himself, his words sounded more like he was defending Tedmond, and they couldn’t stand hearing such a thing.“What do you mean you wouldn’t give it back?” Adeline demanded, her face twitching with anger. The others also wanted to hear Richard’s answer. How dare he say that when they were trying to figure out how to force Tedmond to let go of the shares and return them?“Like I said,” Richard began. “We’ve always told him how useless he was and made sure he felt worthless. Now that he has the shares—something even his father doesn’t have—he will never give them up, no matter what we do. So, it’s all a waste anyway. We should give up right here.”The others tried to speak, but Richard cut them off, unwilling to let them interrupt before he finished. He had already thought it through and was sure of his conclusion. From Tedmond’s behavior earlier, it was clear t

Everyone in the room froze as they saw Tedmond. His presence alone was enough to make them panic. They hadn’t expected him to be in the house at that moment, and now, he hadn’t just overheard them talking about him—he had heard all of their plans.Adeline began to panic, certain that he wouldn’t let them off now that he knew everything.“What are you doing here?” Harold asked, his brows rising in confusion. He had changed the combination code at the front door and was sure that no one had told Tedmond what the code was. How had he gotten in?Tedmond’s gaze swept over the room, his expression unreadable. Then, in a voice so calm it sent chills down their spines, he said, “Say that again.”His voice, though soft, carried a quiet menace that thickened the air with tension. No one spoke. His eyes landed on Adeline, who immediately looked away. Then on Harold, who shifted uncomfortably. His patience thinned.“Did you not hear me?” he asked, his tone still even. “I said, repeat what you jus

“You’re an illegitimate child,” Richard sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. “No matter what, you’d have to donate your blood anyway. It’s not like you have a choice. Don’t act like you’re doing us a favor.”Gerald added, “Yeah, Ottis is in trouble because of you. It’s time you stepped up.”“It's something that you must do,” Tina added, her grin widening since the others were taking her side. “The illegitimate child has to support the legitimate children.”Nodding her head, Evelyn liked how things were going. She even wished that Tedmond could donate his blood so that he would lose tons of blood. It reminded her of the time in the past when she had taken a certain person's blood for no valid reason. The mere thought of it brought a sinister smile on her face.“You know it is the right thing to do, right?” Evelyn said. “Ottis is in critical condition, and you have to donate the blood to him.”Harold remained silent, watching the exchange unfold. He wanted to see how Tedmond would

At the same time, Tedmond was led into the doctor’s office by a nurse. She held the door open, nodded politely, and left without a word.He narrowed his eyes as she walked away. Odd. No greeting, no explanation. Just silence. Before he could dwell on it, a voice snapped him back.“You’re here, Mr. Tedmond,” the head doctor said, glancing up from a file.Tedmond gave a small nod.“Have a seat,” the doctor said, gesturing to the chair across his desk.Tedmond sat, posture relaxed but gaze sharp. He didn’t like surprise meetings, especially not from anyone connected to the Griffins. If Thomas had known the doctor would call him, he would’ve warned him. The silence meant one thing—this was orchestrated by the Griffins.“This isn’t just a friendly chat,” Tedmond said dryly. “What do you want?”The doctor offered a faint smile. “It’s about Ottis.”Tedmond waited.“You’re listed as one of the emergency blood matches in our system, based on an old check-up. While other things were going on, Tedmond stood outside the hospital with one hand in his pocket. He considered heading back home since he had nothing to do at the hospital. However, on second thought, he changed his mind.He was certain his men had beaten up Ottis, but not so severely that it would require a blood transfusion.'Ottis must have done something else to make himself bleed that much.' Tedmond thought. He couldn’t help but wonder if Ottis had intentionally worsened his injuries to get back at him.Pulling out his phone, Tedmond dialed Thomas’s number. Since he didn’t have the bodyguards’ contacts, he couldn’t reach them directly. If he’d known he’d need to contact them again, he would’ve gotten their numbers. But now, it was too late.“Young master,” Thomas answered on the second ring.“Did you see the report from the bodyguards?” Tedmond asked, his voice low and calm.“Yes, young master. I was about to contact you—something seems off. According to the report, Ottis only s

In the hospital ward where Vivian and Adeline sat, the beeping of machines provided the only rhythm in the heavy silence. The faint scent of antiseptic lingered in the air—sharp and cold.Vivian sat hunched at the edge of her seat, her hands clenched tightly in her lap. Her gray hair, once neatly tied back, had begun to come loose, with strands falling messily around her temples. Her eyes were red—not from crying, but from sheer exhaustion.Adeline paced near the window, arms folded tightly across her chest. Outside, the sun shone brightly, and she could see people moving about—some in wheelchairs, others deep in conversation with family members. The hallway beyond the door was quiet, save for the occasional shuffle of nurses’ shoes or the distant echo of a cough.Adeline had just told Vivian about Ottis’s current condition. Hearing that her grandson was in danger made Vivian panic. Her memory might not have been the sharpest, but she still felt pity for him.For him to be beaten that

The sound of approaching footsteps caught his attention, and he turned his head toward the noise. There, he saw Tina storming toward him, a scowl darkening her face. Before he could process what was happening, she grabbed him by the collar and yanked him down to her height, her hand raised threateningly.“I asked you a question! How dare you ignore me?” she snapped, swinging her hand toward his face. But before she could land the slap, Tedmond caught her wrist mid-air. He hadn’t expected the attack, but there was no way he’d let her hit him—not anymore. He wasn’t the same person who used to stand still and take it.“What the hell is this supposed to be?” Tedmond demanded, a deep frown forming on his face."You—!" Her scowl deepened. “How dare you grab my hand? Do you have a death wish or something?!”“Death wish?” he echoed with a bitter chuckle. “No. I’ve just finally learned to stop letting people treat me like trash.”Tina’s eyes widened, taken aback by the calm defiance in his voi

None of them could believe that Vivian was the same woman—they could tell she now cared about little things she never used to bother with.Adeline’s fist clenched. Ottis had told her everything that happened, and she wasn’t about to let Tedmond off the hook. But first, she needed to make sure Ottis got the blood he needed to recover. She could come back for Tedmond later.“Let’s go, Mother,” Adeline said, holding Vivian’s hand. “The doctor's office is over there. Let's get you tested.”Vivian nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.”As Adeline and Vivian headed off, Adeline turned around to give the others a subtle sign. A grin spread across her face when they nodded in response. They had understood her signal. Once she took the old lady away, Tedmond would be alone—and they could teach him a lesson.Tedmond, who had been watching, noticed Adeline’s signal. Hearing that question was enough to make Max boil with anger. He knew Tedmond was taking advantage of their grandmother’s favoritism, but he hadn’t expected it to go this far.Max’s lips parted, ready to retort, but before he could get a word out, Vivian cut him off.“There’s no need to argue. Like Tedmond said, he’s your little brother, and you have to take care of him,” she said. “Instead of letting him drive, you’ll drive.”That was when Max remembered this had happened before—only back then, he had been the one in the backseat while Tedmond was asked to drive.Biting his lip until it bled, Max couldn’t hide his frustration. Now the roles were reversed, and he was the one being asked to drive. As far as Max could recall, his grandmother had always treated him better than anyone else in the family. It had always felt natural for her to take his side. But now that her attention had shifted to Tedmond, it seemed like she no longer cared about him.‘I’m not going to accept this,’ Max t

Tedmond had seen Max angry before, but never this angry. This was the first time Max had yelled so much that he didn’t let anyone else speak.‘Was it because Grandma said she was going to give me the heir position?’ he wondered.“You think you’re better than me?” Max seethed. “You think you can just smile and pretend you’re the good guy? You’re not. You’re a snake. A bastard. A nobody trying to take my place.”Max took another step forward, now just inches from Tedmond’s face.“If you think I’m going to let this go… you’re dead wrong,” he said in a low, venomous tone. “You better watch your back, because I swear—I’ll make you regret ever stepping into this family.”Vivian, who was standing beside them, glared at Max, furious that he was saying things completely against her wishes.“That’s enough, Max!” Vivian scolded. “Go back to where you were standing.”Max whipped his head toward her, eyes bloodshot. “No! Silence filled the room. No one had expected the grandmother to offer the position of heir to Tedmond so casually—just a few words, and everything changed.Max’s eyes widened in disbelief, his face draining of color. He knew his grandmother suffered from amnesia, but he hadn’t imagined she’d go this far—handing over his rightful place to someone like Tedmond. Not only was she willing to give away everything he had worked for, she was also casting aside her own grandson.Lisa was just as stunned, her mouth hanging open. She had never imagined this would be how Max lost everything.“You can’t do that, Grandma!” Max suddenly shouted, rising from his seat. His face was livid. “How could you give my position to him like that?!”Even Tedmond, the man at the center of it all, looked taken aback. He blinked, his lips parting slightly. Sure, he knew Grandma Vivian liked him now—thanks to the amnesia—but he hadn’t expected this. Not in a million years.“That’s right!” Lisa added quickly, standi
