Everyone turned to Finn, and so did Tedmond, who had no idea why he was being challenged. Challenging Tedmond to a duel meant that everyone in the class had to stop what they were doing to clear the area and even invite students from other courses.

The classmates glared at Finn, disdain written all over their faces.

“Get out!” One of the guys, holding out a shirt for Tedmond to sign, snapped. “Why would you say that at the wrong time?”

“There’s no way we’re missing a chance to get Kanis's autograph for some stupid duel,” another added.

“Give it up!” a girl said. “Don’t ruin my chances of having Kanis touch my headphones and handkerchief, leaving his scent on them.”

The murmurs grew louder as the students voiced their complaints one after the other.

“How dare you talk to me like that?!” Finn yelled. “I’m the backbone of this class! Without me, none of you would even be here!”

Tedmond’s brows furrowed.

“This isn’t high school anymore, Finn. Grow up.”

“We all know Tedmond got a perfect s

The frowns on Tedmond and Kyle’s faces deepened as they watched Max.“What are you doing here?” Kyle asked, his tone dripping with irritation. “You called me a lowlife and insulted my family! What the heck are you doing here if my family isn’t as rich as yours?”Max gritted his teeth. “What are you talking about? Aren’t we friends? Why can’t I be here when Tedmond is here? Aren’t you supposed to be friends with me instead of him?!”Kyle looked away. “Our friendship ended when you called me a lowlife and insulted my family.”Max’s face twisted in confusion. “You’re joking, right?”“What makes you think I’m joking?” Kyle asked. “You insulted me and my family just because I told the truth—that you were lying.”Tedmond sighed and stepped away, leaving them to talk. He knew Kyle and Max argued and fought a lot, but they usually made up within a week. It hadn’t even been that long since their last quarrel. It wouldn’t surprise him if they patched things up, and Kyle ended up tossing him and

However, Kyle and Tedmond weren’t as shaken. Kyle was beaming, while Tedmond remained expressionless.“Mom!” Kyle squealed like a little kid. “You’re here!”Mrs. Karishin’s gaze shifted to Tedmond, who held a bow and arrow.“Hello, Mrs. Karishin,” Tedmond muttered. Kyle had hastily handed him the bow and arrow when they saw her arriving on camera."Shoot the balloon at the top," he’d instructed.Mrs. Karishin glanced around at the decorations, her brow furrowing as she tried to make sense of it all.“Is

Tedmond’s lips pressed into a thin line. He knew the Griffins were plotting against him, but he hadn’t expected it to be something like this. Max smirked, the expression on his face clearly saying it was all part of their plan.Silence hung in the air before the room erupted into murmurs.Liam and the others were stunned by the sudden turn of events, rushing towards Tedmond. But one glance from him stopped them in their tracks. Tedmond didn’t want them dragged into his mess.“How could he steal a diamond necklace and switch it with a fake?”“I thought he was from a respectable family, especially since Mrs. Karishin recognized him.”“Turns out he’s just a con artist who took advantage of Kyle and swiped the necklace.”“Did he think no one would notice?”“How did he even manage to steal it? If he walked right past us, what else might he have taken?”The guests stared at Tedmond with contempt.“I didn’t do it.” Tedmond’s calm voice sliced through the murmurs. “I have no reason to steal m

Tedmond turned his head to look at Max and Maxine. Both of them glared at him with pure resentment.Walking over to Mrs. Karishin, Tedmond brushed past his half-siblings. They both stared at him like they wouldn’t hesitate to cut his throat if given the chance.“What are you talking about?” Tedmond asked. “I bought this necklace last night for Mrs. Karishin’s birthday.”Truthfully, he had asked Thomas to prepare the gift since he had no idea what a woman would like. Thomas had chosen it to suit the taste of the Karishin family.Maxine raised her hand, pointing an accusing finger at him. “You! How dare you do that to Grandmother?! She treated you better than anyone else in the house, and you dared steal from her!”“You ungrateful brat!” Max yelled, the memory of how he had been treated the day before flashing through his mind. “How dare you?! Now that you’ve stolen her necklace, she’ll hate you for good.”Tedmond raised his brows. “But I don’t have a grandmother.”Everyone at the party

The emerald dangled from Vivian’s neck, sparkling in the light. The necklace caught everyone’s attention, including Tedmond's. He had thought Max lied about their grandmother having the necklace, but she indeed wore the same one.“What’s wrong, grandson?” Vivian asked. “Are you mad at me for not being there for you when Max and Maxine treated you wrongly? Don’t worry, I will take care of them. Just give your grandmother a hug.”Tedmond tried to keep a straight face. He didn’t want to speak to her. Although she was acting all kind toward him now, it was only in the present. In the past, she had resented him for being an illegitimate child, often telling him to his face that she didn’t consider him her grandson and only acknowledged Max.She had starved him since he was a baby, waiting for him to die, but Maxine's nanny had been kind enough to feed him. As long as he could remember, if his grandmother was home, he wouldn’t have anything to eat or drink unless he stole from the kitchen

Max flinched as all eyes turned to him, sweat forming on his face. "I didn’t steal the necklace," he insisted. "Someone must have tried to frame me."Tedmond’s lips curled. When he brushed past Max to get to Mrs. Karishin, he slipped the necklace into Max’s pocket. Since Max wasn’t paying attention, he didn’t notice when Tedmond planted it there.Tedmond already knew Max had placed the necklace on him and that he had returned it to the person who had originally stolen it."How dare you try to frame Tedmond after stealing from us?!" Kyle yelled. "Not only did you threaten me, but you also stole from me."Mrs. Karishin sighed, rubbing her forehead as the diamond necklace was presented to her. "This is the real one.""Oh my God, I can't believe Max stole from the Karishins.""Is that why he said the Griffins were above the Karishins? Was it because they were getting a contract with Xinca?""He tried to shift the attention onto Tedmond so that no one would think to search him.""Thanks to

Melody’s lips broke into a smile. “I said I was going to marry you,” she confirmed. “You don’t recognize me or try to please me when we meet. That’s perfect!”Tedmond arched his eyebrows at Kyle.“How can you marry him?” Kyle asked. “You’re six years older than him!”Melody glanced at her brother, a blank look on her face. “Does that matter? He looks pretty mature to me.”Kyle’s eyes bulged. “You always said you liked mature men! Tedmond is younger than you!”Sighing, she glanced at Tedmond. “He’s more mature than the older men I’ve met. I have to marry him now before he finds a girlfriend.”Tedmond watched the siblings argue. They weren’t even asking for his opinion, as was typical of Kyle.“What did you just say?” Mrs. Karishin asked, appearing next to them.“Did Mel say she’s getting married?” a male voice shouted, arriving at the same time as Mrs. Karishin. “Who’s the man she wants to marry?”Tedmond’s eyes darted to the man who had just arrived. I became friends with Kyle just to meet his sister, and now this happened before I even got the chance.”

You have to pay the bill.”Lisa’s face twisted in frustration. She had ordered tons of food, expecting Tedmond to foot the bill once their conversation was over. Yet, he hadn’t even paid for the water he drank, and Sierra had the audacity to order takeout as well.“Umm, ma’am, other tables are waiting for me. I can’t stand here forever,” the waiter said, reminding her that she still needed to pay.Groaning, Lisa held out her hand. “Hold up, let me grab my card from my bag real quick.”The waiter nodded, still waiting.Meanwhile, Tedmond stepped into a hotel just across from the restaurant, completely unaware that Persis had even ordered a takeout, leaving Lisa with a massive bill.He wanted to see what would happen next, and staying at the hotel was the perfect option since it had multiple floors, allowing him to observe everything. Lisa exhaled, setting down her fork. "If you play this right, Tedmond, the company could be yours permanently."Saying that wasn’t something she wanted to say. It was all a lie, and she didn’t care. As long as he returned to the family and helped with his baby mama’s money, the company would be stable enough for Max to run it.Even if Tedmond had changed, he was still the illegitimate son."Every choice that was made was for the company," Lisa added. "You wouldn’t understand since you were never around."Tedmond’s brows furrowed. Now, she was trying to manipulate him into believing he knew nothing about the family because he left."Also, you haven't paid attention to the business to begin with," she claimed shamelessly. "There’s no way you would understand the decisions made on behalf of the company.""Oh, really?" Tedmond questioned, finally finding something to use against her. "Then how would I run the company if I don't understand a single decision made on its behalf?"Lisa was ca

Tedmond glanced at Persis, his eyes questioning, silently asking if it was true. Persis nodded, confirming it wasn’t a lie. Lisa observed them both, confusion flickering in her eyes at their silent exchange.“She did mention it,” Tedmond replied, though Persis hadn’t told him anything. He was the one who had forgotten to ask her about it. “Why did you want to meet me?”Lisa’s eyes darted between Persis and Tedmond before settling on him. “With her here again?”Tedmond nodded, frowning. “What’s wrong with her being here? We’re super close—unlike you and me.”Lisa’s brows twitch, but she decided to push her concerns aside for now. First, she needed him to listen. Her gaze flickered between them again, suspicion evident, but she didn’t press further. "We should find a place to talk," she suggested, her voice smooth but firm."No," Tedmond replied instantly. There was no reason for a private conversation with her. He already had an idea of what she wanted to say, and he wasn’t interested.

As soon as the words rolled off Finn’s lips, Lisa saw no reason to stop him. After all, if Tedmond was expelled, he might need their help to get back into school. She knew he wouldn’t want to embarrass himself by seeking help from his baby's mama.Even when they were dating, he had never asked her for anything, and she knew his child would be no different.Still, it puzzled her why he hadn’t relied on his baby mama when he was suffering at the hands of his family.Tilting her head to the side, she sighed. “Tell me what you’re going to do to them. If it’s something bad, make sure it affects Sierra more.”Finn nodded, a grin spreading across his face.****“What happened?” Persis asked as soon as she entered the classroom and found it empty. She had been curious ever since she saw Lisa leave with Finn. She looked like she had won.“She’ll be here soon,” Tedmond told the professor.Shaking his head, the professor gestured to the door. “I know you’re waiting for Tedmond, but you’re a top student. You should care about your grades first.”Hearing that, Finn snorted. He had been the top student before Tedmond took that spot from him. There was no way he was going to acknowledge it.“I’ll wait here for her then,” Tedmond replied. “If everyone leaves, she won’t know where we are. I’ll stay behind and lead her to the group later.”Lisa’s brow furrowed. That wasn’t what she expected. Her lips parted as she tried to say something, but the professor spoke first.“Okay. That’s fi

When Tedmond returned from the bathroom, Persis was already in bed—his bed. She had a towel in her hand, her damp hair wrapped up, and had changed into her pajamas…more like his.Although she had claimed she came to see Bianca, she hadn’t even considered using the guest room when she felt sleepy. Instead, she had chosen his bed. That was when he realized she had only used that excuse to stay at the mansion.Walking over, he glanced at her as she lay in bed. Her eyes were closed, but that wasn’t enough to convince him she was actually asleep."Did Lisa call again?" he asked, testing to see if she was still awake.Persis didn’t move or respond.Sighing, Tedmond adjusted her position on the bed and pulled the blanket over her. Then, he walked to his wardrobe and pulled out an extra blanket.Moving back, he spread the blanket on the floor beside the bed, grabbed a pillow, and lay down. He closed his eyes, deciding he would talk to her in the morning.*****Sunlight filled the room as some

She was probably calling him for help with their failing business. She must have thought he would go running to her if she complained."Aren't you going to pick it up?" Persis asked, curious about what Lisa might say. "She wants to speak to you. You should answer it."Tedmond turned his head to Persis just as the call ended. He had spent too much time debating."Why do I have to pick it up?" he questioned. To him, the only people who should be calling were his father or Max. He wanted his family to be the ones reaching out to him.Lisa was just an outsider who had come into their family for money. He knew she would leave as soon as the family was ruined, but he didn’t intend to let her off easily.Since she had used him to get into the family, he was going to keep her there forever."Because it would be fun," Persis replied with a bright smile. "Aren't you curious about what she wants to say?"He shook his head. "I'

She stood with her arms crossed, her sharp gaze locked on his."Does she mean Lisa, your ex-girlfriend?" Persis asked. Her tone was unreadable, and Tedmond couldn’t tell what she was thinking."She’s the one," he admitted. He had checked the guest list and was certain he hadn’t seen Mr. Cain’s name on it. Then it suddenly hit him—Mr. Cain must have intentionally added his name at the last minute.Sneaky man, Thomas thought, a frown crossing his face.Picking up his pace behind Tedmond, he pressed further. “And? What did he say?”They had both forgotten about the guest who had returned with Tedmond. Persis groaned as she walked in alone, rolling her eyes.“Thanks for welcoming me,” she said, throwing her hands in the air.But Thomas wasn’t paying attention. He was still fixated on Tedmond. “Did he say anything serious to you?” he asked again, still following closely. At the top of the staircase, Tedmond finally stopped and turned to look at him. “Nothing much,” he replied. He didn’t understand why Thomas was so curious about his conversation with Mr. Cain.
