Tedmond listened attentively as she spoke, and when she finished, a stunned expression appeared on his face.

"You might laugh," she said. "They all do when I tell them. They always say no one gets into accidents all the time, and that the necklace wouldn't be bought."

Tedmond looked at her; her expression seemed more downcast than when she talked about her plan for the necklace.

"That's a nice idea," he said. "Why would I laugh at your ideas? Even if it’s not perfect, it can be improved, not mocked."

Her eyes widened in surprise. "They said it's too expensive and that no one would buy such a costly, useless necklace."

Tedmond shook his head. "Detectives and investigators would."

"But I heard they don’t make enough."

Tedmond placed a hand on his chin, thinking. "How much do you intend to sell it for, and who’s your target audience?"
