“I am afraid so, young master,” Thomas replied, his gaze serious, devoid of pity. “We have no choice but to buy it.”

Tedmond frowned at Thomas. “Didn’t you just say it’s a failing company? You want me to buy a failing company?”

Thomas nodded vaguely. “That’s right, young master. The Washington family has tons of properties, so it wouldn’t be a problem if the company ended up failing. However, I have a great eye for good opportunities, and since the company is going bankrupt, we can buy it at almost half the price.”

Hearing that, Tedmond thought for a moment. The Washington family had numerous businesses that could help this one stand and grow without issues. But there was no way he would give the company a cheat sheet. He wanted to see if he could develop a company without relying on an already established one.

“Fine,” he replied. “I’ll buy the company.”

As if waiting for that answer, Thomas broke into an excited smile. “I knew you would listen to me, young master!”

“I saw the race!” a male student exclaimed as he approached Tedmond the moment he stepped into the cafeteria. “You’re all over the sports channel, dude! I can't believe I’m in the same school as you!”“For you to win a race against a professional racer is dope!” another male student chimed in. “Now that you’ve beaten Linn, are you planning to go into racing?”Tedmond was taken aback by their sudden friendliness. He’d heard murmurs about the race earlier, but this was the first time anyone had approached him directly about it, especially the guys.“How was it?” a third student inquired. “Beating a professional like that—must’ve felt great, right?”As the three initiated the conversation, others around them grew bolder and hurried over to join in. It was only then that Tedmond understood why so many had been gesturing at him earlier as he walked past. His brows furrowed. How could he have forgotten something this significant? He was still a student and had classes to attend. Drawing so

“That bitch!” Lisa cursed, her brows twitching in anger as she kicked the wall of the ladies' restroom. “She’s always treating me like shit!”She bit her lip so hard it broke, and blood dripped from the wound. Frowning, she wiped the blood away and walked over to the mirror, glaring at her reflection. Unlike before, when her face was blank, annoyance now etched her features.“Does she think she’s the one who married me? Her brother did, not her! Why is she acting like an annoying mother-in-law?!” she screamed. “I even got married early just to secure that position, but she’s trying to back me into a corner!”Lisa couldn’t even scream anymore. Before the marriage, she had helped them spy on Tedmond, reporting his daily tasks and whereabouts. They should at least be grateful to her.Maxine’s words echoed in her mind, making her blood boil. Frustrated, Lisa slammed her head against the mirror in a desperate attempt to silence her thoughts. The result was a cracked mirror and blood trickl

“Be careful, young master,” Thomas said as soon as Tedmond stepped out of the car to head into the company they were supposed to purchase.Tedmond turned to Thomas, noting the deeply concerned look on his face. It was so pronounced that Tedmond recoiled for a moment. Thomas looked like he was staring at something fragile, as if afraid it might shatter.“I’m fine!” Tedmond yelled, snapping Thomas out of his daze. “You’ve let me go out alone countless times. Why are you terrified just because I’m heading to a company to buy it?”Despite Tedmond’s cold tone, his words didn’t seem to affect Thomas. He continued to stare at Tedmond with the same worried expression.“I just hope you come back fine,” Thomas said, his concern unwavering. “Fighting! You can do it!”Tedmond sighed, a sly smile tugging at his lips as he turned away. “I’ll be fine.”Oddly enough, Thomas’s worry made him feel good. His father had never cared for him, nor had anyone else. Even when he returned home injured, no one

Martin stared at Tedmond with wide eyes, a sheen of sweat forming on his forehead. Nervousness hit him as he adjusted his glasses, trying to play it cool."I don’t understand what you’re talking about," Martin lied. "My company isn’t on the brink of bankruptcy, and our workers have already been paid. We aren’t five months behind on payments."Tedmond peered at the man. He wouldn’t have believed him even if he hadn’t read everything about the company and Martin. Martin didn’t have the knack for lying, at least not about his company.Thomas had indeed prepared him well."I’ve done my research," Tedmond said, making eye contact with Martin. "I found numerous complaints from workers at your construction sites. They’ve reported not being paid for five months."Martin frowned. "Like I said, we’ve paid all our workers," he replied, refusing to back down. “I don’t know where you got this information from but it is wrong.”"But you do admit that your company is on the brink of bankruptcy," Ted

As soon as the words left the man's lips, Tedmond looked at him blankly, disbelief etched across his face.“Do I look like a kidnapper to you?” Tedmond asked, glaring at the man irritably. “Even if I were to kidnap you, how much could I squeeze out of you when you have nothing and tons of debt?”Martin was taken aback by Tedmond’s tone, feeling triggered by the indirect insult.“Squeezing money out of a kidnapped person isn’t all there is to kidnapping!” Martin snapped, huffing. “Besides, let’s go back to our previous discussion since you’re making me feel like an old man.”“Fine. I’d like to purchase your company,” Tedmond said with a sigh. “Since the company has a lot of debt, tell me how much you’re willing to sell it for.”From what Tedmond had learned, he knew he shouldn’t name a price first, as he was the one purchasing.Martin stared at Tedmond. With so much debt, he wondered if his company was even worth five million dollars. Not only did he owe $300 million, but he also hadn’

“Do you have a death wish or something, kid?” Ki questioned, his gaze intensifying even more. “The owner of this building isn’t someone who would agree to meet with you just because you asked for it.”Tedmond arched his eyebrows at Ki. “But would he come out for a person who borrowed money and refused to pay?” he asked, not feeling intimidated by Ki at all.The worst Ki could do was punch him, but he knew Ki wouldn’t do that either.“He doesn’t come out like that,” Ki said, rubbing his face. “He’s the building owner and comes out whenever he wants.”Ki’s gaze was focused on Tedmond. He had made sure to sound hard and cold to scare Tedmond off. However, he had no idea that Tedmond would stay with him without getting terrified and running away.“Then how can I meet him?” Tedmond asked, his gaze serious. “I’m here for something serious, and I must speak to him.”Ki glared at Tedmond. “You can’t come in here and demand to see the boss!” he yelled. “The boss is a very busy person, and he w

Tedmond turned his head to look at Ki. 'There’s a secret code?' he thought. He had no idea there was a secret code. He had just spoken normally, as he always did. Did he manage to guess their secret code without realizing it?“Is that really important now?” Tedmond questioned, making sure not to let any emotions show on his face.He could tell Ki was still wary of him, but there was no way he would admit he had merely guessed the secret code. There must be some sort of benefit that comes with knowing it.“Isn’t it suspicious, boss?” Ki asked Joe. “He just showed up out of nowhere. This is the first time he’s been here, but he already knows the secret code?”Joe glanced at Ki, then back at Tedmond. “I don’t think so. The ones who know the secret code are the only ones who would come into the company and ask for me. I don’t find it suspicious at all. After all, an acquaintance of his might be a regular here.”Ki frowned at Joe’s indifference. “He might be a kid, but he could’ve been sen

“Young master!” Thomas yelled, beaming as he saw Tedmond walk out of the building.Tedmond frowned at Thomas, who seemed teary-eyed just from seeing him unharmed.“You came back fine!” Thomas cried out, hurrying over. “They didn’t do anything to you, did they?”Thomas circled Tedmond, checking him up and down for any injuries.“You’re fine. I thought they’d do something to you. I was ready to fight back,”Thomas claimed. “What did you go in there for?”Tedmond walked to the car and got in. Thomas followed immediately and sat in the front seat. He started the car and began driving before Tedmond finally answered the question.“I went to purchase the company,” Tedmond said.Thomas slammed on the brakes, nearly throwing himself forward. He broke into a cold sweat, his heart pounding.“What?” Thomas questioned, glancing back at Tedmond, whose expression was indifferent.“I went in there to buy the company,” Tedmond repeated.“You just walked in and offered to buy their company?!” Thomas ex

“You’re an illegitimate child,” Richard sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. “No matter what, you’d have to donate your blood anyway. It’s not like you have a choice. Don’t act like you’re doing us a favor.”Gerald added, “Yeah, Ottis is in trouble because of you. It’s time you stepped up.”“It's something that you must do,” Tina added, her grin widening since the others were taking her side. “The illegitimate child has to support the legitimate children.”Nodding her head, Evelyn liked how things were going. She even wished that Tedmond could donate his blood so that he would lose tons of blood. It reminded her of the time in the past when she had taken a certain person's blood for no valid reason. The mere thought of it brought a sinister smile on her face.“You know it is the right thing to do, right?” Evelyn said. “Ottis is in critical condition, and you have to donate the blood to him.”Harold remained silent, watching the exchange unfold. He wanted to see how Tedmond would

At the same time, Tedmond was led into the doctor’s office by a nurse. She held the door open, nodded politely, and left without a word.He narrowed his eyes as she walked away. Odd. No greeting, no explanation. Just silence. Before he could dwell on it, a voice snapped him back.“You’re here, Mr. Tedmond,” the head doctor said, glancing up from a file.Tedmond gave a small nod.“Have a seat,” the doctor said, gesturing to the chair across his desk.Tedmond sat, posture relaxed but gaze sharp. He didn’t like surprise meetings, especially not from anyone connected to the Griffins. If Thomas had known the doctor would call him, he would’ve warned him. The silence meant one thing—this was orchestrated by the Griffins.“This isn’t just a friendly chat,” Tedmond said dryly. “What do you want?”The doctor offered a faint smile. “It’s about Ottis.”Tedmond waited.“You’re listed as one of the emergency blood matches in our system, based on an old check-up. While other things were going on, Tedmond stood outside the hospital with one hand in his pocket. He considered heading back home since he had nothing to do at the hospital. However, on second thought, he changed his mind.He was certain his men had beaten up Ottis, but not so severely that it would require a blood transfusion.'Ottis must have done something else to make himself bleed that much.' Tedmond thought. He couldn’t help but wonder if Ottis had intentionally worsened his injuries to get back at him.Pulling out his phone, Tedmond dialed Thomas’s number. Since he didn’t have the bodyguards’ contacts, he couldn’t reach them directly. If he’d known he’d need to contact them again, he would’ve gotten their numbers. But now, it was too late.“Young master,” Thomas answered on the second ring.“Did you see the report from the bodyguards?” Tedmond asked, his voice low and calm.“Yes, young master. I was about to contact you—something seems off. According to the report, Ottis only s

In the hospital ward where Vivian and Adeline sat, the beeping of machines provided the only rhythm in the heavy silence. The faint scent of antiseptic lingered in the air—sharp and cold.Vivian sat hunched at the edge of her seat, her hands clenched tightly in her lap. Her gray hair, once neatly tied back, had begun to come loose, with strands falling messily around her temples. Her eyes were red—not from crying, but from sheer exhaustion.Adeline paced near the window, arms folded tightly across her chest. Outside, the sun shone brightly, and she could see people moving about—some in wheelchairs, others deep in conversation with family members. The hallway beyond the door was quiet, save for the occasional shuffle of nurses’ shoes or the distant echo of a cough.Adeline had just told Vivian about Ottis’s current condition. Hearing that her grandson was in danger made Vivian panic. Her memory might not have been the sharpest, but she still felt pity for him.For him to be beaten that

The sound of approaching footsteps caught his attention, and he turned his head toward the noise. There, he saw Tina storming toward him, a scowl darkening her face. Before he could process what was happening, she grabbed him by the collar and yanked him down to her height, her hand raised threateningly.“I asked you a question! How dare you ignore me?” she snapped, swinging her hand toward his face. But before she could land the slap, Tedmond caught her wrist mid-air. He hadn’t expected the attack, but there was no way he’d let her hit him—not anymore. He wasn’t the same person who used to stand still and take it.“What the hell is this supposed to be?” Tedmond demanded, a deep frown forming on his face."You—!" Her scowl deepened. “How dare you grab my hand? Do you have a death wish or something?!”“Death wish?” he echoed with a bitter chuckle. “No. I’ve just finally learned to stop letting people treat me like trash.”Tina’s eyes widened, taken aback by the calm defiance in his voi

None of them could believe that Vivian was the same woman—they could tell she now cared about little things she never used to bother with.Adeline’s fist clenched. Ottis had told her everything that happened, and she wasn’t about to let Tedmond off the hook. But first, she needed to make sure Ottis got the blood he needed to recover. She could come back for Tedmond later.“Let’s go, Mother,” Adeline said, holding Vivian’s hand. “The doctor's office is over there. Let's get you tested.”Vivian nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.”As Adeline and Vivian headed off, Adeline turned around to give the others a subtle sign. A grin spread across her face when they nodded in response. They had understood her signal. Hearing that question was enough to make Max boil with anger. He knew Tedmond was taking advantage of their grandmother’s favoritism, but he hadn’t expected it to go this far.Max’s lips parted, ready to retort, but before he could get a word out, Vivian cut him off.“There’s no need to argue. Like Tedmond said, he’s your little brother, and you have to take care of him,” she said. “Instead of letting him drive, you’ll drive.”That was when Max remembered this had happened before—only back then, he had been the one in the backseat while Tedmond was asked to drive.Biting his lip until it bled, Max couldn’t hide his frustration. Now the roles were reversed, and he was the one being asked to drive. As far as Max could recall, his grandmother had always treated him better than anyone else in the family. It had always felt natural for her to take his side. But now that her attention had shifted to Tedmond, it seemed like she no longer cared about him.‘I’m not going to accept this,’ Max t

Silence filled the room. No one had expected the grandmother to offer the position of heir to Tedmond so casually—just a few words, and everything changed.Max’s eyes widened in disbelief, his face draining of color. He knew his grandmother suffered from amnesia, but he hadn’t imagined she’d go this far—handing over his rightful place to someone like Tedmond. Not only was she willing to give away everything he had worked for, she was also casting aside her own grandson.Lisa was just as stunned, her mouth hanging open. She had never imagined this would be how Max lost everything.“You can’t do that, Grandma!” Max suddenly shouted, rising from his seat. His face was livid. “How could you give my position to him like that?!”Even Tedmond, the man at the center of it all, looked taken aback. He blinked, his lips parting slightly. Sure, he knew Grandma Vivian liked him now—thanks to the amnesia—but he hadn’t expected this. Not in a million years.“That’s right!” Lisa added quickly, standi
