Hello, sweet readers, Thanks for reading this chapter. Question: Should Brian do the bet or not? Comment your thoughts. I'd love to see them. Thanks again. Lynxx loves y'all
Hip-hop music blasted from Richard's car stereo, lightening up the mood as he drove the Mercedes Benz. Brian sat next to the driver's seat while the rest of them – Melanie, Charlene, and Dalton – sat at the back Except for the music, the car was silent as it made its journey to Wesville. Brian wondered what awaited him at the manor. He was elated to see his mother but what of his father? He hadn't spoken to him for about a month. Wouldn't it be awkward? How would he get along with him? He was also nervous about the reaction of his father's men and workers towards him. Melanie told him his father had a lot of men working for him. Would they like and accept him as the heir? Not that they had a choice but he wanted them to accept him in their free will. What would they think of him? That he was weak and unfit to be the heir of the family? He ran his hand on his face and puffed. This was overwhelming. "Hey, see this," Charlene called his attention towards her. "Look at what you c
Richard walked up to him and patted Brian's shoulder. "Welcome to the Addams Manor, kiddo." Brian gazed with amazement. How can this magnificence be secluded in an isolated place like this? No one should be deprived of this magnificence. It's like walking into a castle. "Brian, your jaw is practically on the ground," Richard told him. Brian closed his mouth before drool could slide out. "This is amazing." He couldn't believe he was going to own this one day. "Yeah. I'll give you a tour around tomorrow. Let's go in. Everyone must be waiting for us." They walked past the hedges to the front door. It was a large double gold metal door with a lion's face design on it. Two guards stood beside the door. They opened the door for them to walk into the entrance hallway. The hallway was large, and dimly lit, with a red carpet covering the floor. The left wall held portraits of abstract art while the right displayed portraits of different men. Brian guessed the men were from the Addams
"You have a nice manor," Brian remarked as they made their way upstairs. Edward hummed. "Hmm-mmm. I built this one since our last one was destroyed." "Destroyed? How?" "Bombing." Brian paused as his mind processed something. "Was it the bombing that...killed our family?" Edward nodded. Brian pursed his lips and remained silent. Edward started. "Well, there are lots of rooms in the house, so let's get started. Brian agreed. Starting from the top, Edward began the tour in the manor. He showed him the rooftop which had a low brick wall around it to prevent anyone from falling. Then he proceeded inside and showed him each room. The top floor occupied his study. It was just like the study at Richard's mansion, only that this one was wider and had more books. After the study was the weapons room, where weapons, mostly guns, were kept. Brian was amazed by the sight of the different types of guns – revolvers, pistols, revolvers, shotguns, and the like – hung on hooks attache
The backyard wasn't your typical backyard, whether common or wealthy. It was more like a military training area. The backyard was filled with different training equipment and facilities. It was like an outdoor version of the training rooms, only wider. Edward said this was the main training area, where everyone comes to train together. The area was brimming with training activities. Different groups trained in different areas, either hand-to-hand combat, sword fighting, gun shooting, and the rest. There were about twenty people in the area now.The perimeter of the training area was marked out by one-step bricks. Beyond the training area, two buildings were constructed, one in each corner of the fence. Brian noticed that the building on the left was too small for someone to do anything inside. Two guards stood by this building.Brian followed Edward as he walked behind the row of Grey Guardians practicing gun shooting. None of them missed their target dummies. They seemed so good at
Upon hearing Brian's voice, the men snapped their heads towards the door instantly. Their eyes widened when they saw the person they tried to kidnap a month ago. The same person that landed them here. The one he was looking at stood up and went forward a bit. Brian recognized him as the leader."Please, pardon us, sir. We didn't know you were part of a mafia." He started pleading. The men thought they were mafias."He isn't just part of us. He's my son." Edward deadpanned, with a stern face. Their eyes widened even more. They tried to kidnap the mafia boss's son? Uh oh!"We are...we are sorry. Please, have mercy on us.""Tell him what you told us," Edward ordered."Huh?""Who sent you to kidnap him?" "We already told you."Edward hardened his expression. "Don't make me get the whip." The leader flinched. His body hadn't recovered from the last beating he was given. He started revealing. "OK, OK. We don't know who the person was because he was masked. He gave us your picture and
Several days passed by in the manor and Brian settled into the routine that almost seemed normal, counting out the part of training with weapons. Brian helped with some company work in Edward's study. He learned a lot about the L.A.K.E conglomerate in the process, its net worth, some of the companies under it, and other things. After helping out, he joined the other men in the training area. Arata decided to take over Charlene and Melanie's teaching session. Arata was an amazing teacher and in no time, Brian learned a lot about gun shooting and was starting to learn sword fighting. Arata also taught him some martial skills that Brian suspected were Japanese. They were amazing nonetheless. Brian got along with everyone in the manor and made some friends out of them, although he kept some distance from the Butterflies. Brian also got along with his father gradually while they worked. Edward occasionally taught him all he needed to know about being the heir of the Addams family. Bri
A/N Hey readers. Lynxx is back with updates. I'm sincerely sorry for the lack of updates for the past few days. I don't want to lie. The reason is I've been feeling a bit lazy and my workload was much. But seeing the number of new readers I had now made me feel guilty about it. Hope you can forgive me, please? I was also stockpiling chapters for February, so I can assure you (not promising though) that there will be daily and regular updates in February. If possible two chapters per day. So there won't be many updates in the remaining months of January but there will be in December. Lynxx is no longer lazy, readers. Thanks, y'all who stayed. It means so much. If you've read the previous chapter before this one, you might want to remove this book from your library and add it again. I made a change to that chapter. Don't worry about the chapters you paid for. They'll remain unlocked. I made this chapter free for you. Enjoy, y'all.Mwaah. ******* Brian stared at the photo in be
The night was accompanied by a chilly wind that blew Edward's neck-length hair. Edward stood on the manor's rooftop, gazing upon the wide view of the forest and lights from Wesville in the distance. From the rooftop, it was a beauty to behold. He held a lit cigarette in his left hand. Crickets or some other animals were probably making some noises in the forest but because of the distance between the manor and the forest, not a sound could be heard unless you included the whipping of the wind. Below, in the compound, the Gray Guardians who had the night shift stood in their positions, with shades on their face, armed and alert as always. Anyone who saw Edward would know immediately he was deep in thought as he smoked. He wasn't a usual smoker but smoking always helped him in critical thinking. "Hey, Eddie." Richard's voice said and Edward turned to see Richard standing by the doorway. "Is it okay to join you?" Richard raised his brows at him. Edward started at him for less than
