Chapter Twenty-three

Melanie laughed again unable to tell if Alexia was lying or serious. Had she gone stupid and fallen in love with Raymond or was she just pretending?

But before she could ask, Brian and Raymond arrived at the table.

"What's funny?" inquired Brian.

Trying to suppress her laughter, Melanie replied. "Alexia was just telling me a joke."

Alexia gritted her teeth.

Brian and Raymond had the same look of confusion on their faces. Since when did they start bonding?

"Anyway, where is my food?" Melanie asked after her laughter died down.

Brian's eyes widened. He hit his palm on his forehead. "Dang it. I knew I was forgetting something."

The bet he made with Raymond caused him to forget the reason why he was there in the first place.

Melanie crossed her arms. "What have you been doing all this while?"

"Hey, Alexia. Wanna dance?" Raymond asked.

"Yes." Alexia, who was grateful for the opportunity to leave, got up and took Raymond's hand. Together, they stepped away from the exclusive table.
