Chapter 153

Daniel waited patiently as he watched the rescuers try to get rid of all the rubble that was on top of the basement. With much of it removed, he could hear both Rachel and Craig talking.

The clock was two in the morning, but he wanted to wait for the rescue to end and see to it that they were not attacked again.

Gabriel arrived, still unable to get hold of his sniper. He had a gun in his car, but there were too many police officers and reporters for him to be the one to pull the trigger. But for safety reasons, he tucked it behind his jacket.

He got out of the car while dialing the sniper's line again but could not get through.

He kicked his car out of irritation. Taking Daniel out of plain sight was his last choice, but it was very risky.

He looked around, trying to spot Daniel, but could not find him outside. He walked to where the perimeter was set, but an officer approached him and told him to leave.

"Sir, we can't allow you to pass this line," the officer said.
