Daniel grabbed his phone, ignoring his friends' protests. They felt choosing Kendall Hamilton was a bad idea that would only add to the drama of the project and might backfire on the group.

Craig locked his gaze on his friend, who was yet again making another uncharacteristic decision. Daniel was not the type to surround himself with drama or attention, but it appeared he was attracting all the attention he had tried to avoid his entire life.

"Daniel, are you sure?" Craig asked for the third time, knowing full well that there were other students who were far more qualified than Kendal for the position.

"Trust me, guys," Daniel said, his attention drawn to his phone.

Zain, who was on campus, had just texted him. He summoned Daniel outside. It was crucial. Daniel abruptly excused himself and exited the room.

Zain's request for a meet-up outside the room meant that whatever he had to say was only meant for the two of them and not to be heard by the other two friends.
