Vera stood waiting by the side of the road, the night air beginning to prick her skin. She huddled in her arms, trying to reduce the chill that was getting to her. The dim streetlights were the only illumination around her, providing a quiet yet lonely atmosphere.

A few minutes later, the headlights of a car dazzled her eyes. It stopped right in front of her, and a man got out of the car. It was William, the man Vera had been waiting for.

He looked elegant in his black suit. He took off his suit and put it on Vera, trying to warm her already cold body.

"I'm sorry I took so long," William said, looking guilty.

Vera snorted in annoyance.

"You went out with Tania, you forgot I was waiting!" scolded Vera, feeling disappointed with William's treatment.

William looked guilty. He held Vera's shoulder, trying to calm her anger. "You're so cold. You should have taken the bus or a taxi home," William said, trying to explain.
