The afterglow settled over us like a warm haze, blurring the edges of the opulent dining room. Zephyr's head rested on my chest, her breathing shallow and even. The chaotic symphony of our lives had been replaced by a fragile melody of intimacy, a melody tinged with a newfound understanding.

A cough shattered the silence, sharp and sudden. We both jolted upright, the remnants of our encounter forgotten as the stark reality of our situation hit us. Standing near the doorway, frozen in mid-stride, was Edward, the ever-present butler, his face a mask of utter shock.

A crimson flush crept up my neck as our tangled limbs and discarded clothes were laid bare before Edward's wide eyes. Zephyr, ever the composed one, snatched up a silk scarf from the floor and draped it strategically across her body.

"Edward," she said, her voice surprisingly steady considering the circumstances. "I apologise for the…disarray. We seem to have gotten a bit…carried away."
