5 Years Later

The dim light of the bar flickered as Nathan wiped down the counter, the rag in his hand moving with mechanical precision.

“Hey, Collins!” his boss, Carlos, barked from the other end of the bar. “Get those drinks out faster. What do you think I’m paying you for, slump?”

Nathan nodded, saying nothing. He had grown accustomed to the harsh words, finding a strange solace in their predictability.

He poured the drinks and served them to the rowdy group of men at the corner table, their laughter and crude jokes filling the air.

One of them, a burly man with a scar across his cheek, grabbed Nathan’s arm as he set down the glasses.

“Why so quiet, hombre?” the man sneered. “You got no friends? No past? No future? I have been noticing you for years now. Pareces un caballo abandonado!”

Nathan pulled his arm free and stepped back, forcing a smile. “Just here to work,” he muttered before turning away.

As the night wore on, Nathan found himself alone in the small alley beh

The next day, Nathan juggled his morning job at the construction site with thoughts of the evening event. His muscles ached from the heavy lifting, but he pushed through, knowing that every dollar earned was a step away from his past. He walked into his locker room, quiet and alone where he would change into his usual uniform as a mechanic, fixing cars and other automobiles. He opened the locker and was about to pull his uniform out when a gang of young guys surrounded him, clenching their fists. “Oye, búho. ¿Qué carajo crees que estás haciendo, eh? You think you can be mysterious huh? And steal all the babes in the hood?” The lead said arrogantly. Nathan simply sighed, tired of the daily drama these guys would always bring. Despite being broke and poor, he still had a very attractive face that wherever he entered, people who looked past his trash dressing would see a Diamond above his neck. A handsome, well built adult. Nathan looked at the gang, his expression weary but c

Nathan raised an eyebrow, keeping his face neutral. "I'm not sure I understand, ma'am. This section is a bar. We serve drinks here." The woman chuckled softly. "You're quite the modest one, aren't you? My name is Eleanor Davenport, and this is my assistant, Maria. I have a keen eye for potential, and I see something special in you." Nathan forced a polite smile. "Thank you, madam, but I'm just a bartender." Eleanor leaned in, her voice dropping to a low, intimate tone. "Oh please, I don't think so. I think there's a lot more to you than meets the eye. I have a business proposition for you, something that could change your life." Nathan's pulse quickened. He had learned to be wary of such offers and not trust anyone. Not a single soul, but curiosity got the better of him. "I'm not looking for any new opportunities right now. I'm content with my work here." Eleanor's smile remained, but her eyes hardened slightly. "Content? Or hiding? You seem like a man running from something, som

Evening came and Nathan rushed back home to take a cold shower as he had no money for gas. He looked at himself in the mirror. Should he shave? Ummm.. no! He grabbed his phone, wallet and keys - key to his door - and then he stepped out, ready to meet Eleanor Davenport. The name itself was a mystery wrapped in allure, but Nathan couldn't shake off the gnawing disinterest. He didn't want to return to the life he once knew. It was a life filled with betrayal, deceit, and endless struggles. Here, in Mexico, he had found a strange, quiet kind of peace in his isolation, even if it was mingled with hardship. As he walked to La Casa de la Rosa, the evening air was cool and heavy with the scent of impending rain. The streets were lively with the chatter of people and the distant strains of music. Yet Nathan felt detached, like he was moving through a world he was no longer a part of. “Ey. ¿Quién eres? ¿Dónde está tu pase?” Some security men asked him as soon as he stood in front of th

"Well, my lovely granddaughter has a severe health issue, cancer. And well, we have a very big business event to attend in London where we would drop a proposal for a certain huge project, none of your business. Now, all of my children and grandchildren who attend that event must be married with a perfect mate.” “Candace is ambitious and I am sure she would be the one to strike the deal for us. But you see, because of her health condition, none of the fucking men in Mexico and London wants to get married to her.” Nathan leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "So, you want me to get temporarily married to your granddaughter, Candace," Nathan finished, trying to wrap his head around the proposal. "You want me to pretend to be her husband so she can attend this event and close the deal." Vivian smiled thinly. "You will be well compensated, of course. A substantial sum that could change your life. And perhaps, in helping Vanessa, you might find a new purpose for yourself." N

“Oh, not again!” Nathan sighed silently. “White guy. Where is my rent money? You said you were gonna get it in 3 days. This is the fourth day. Where is it?” The landowner raked. “Look sir. Can you just give me..” “One more day, one more day, one more day. That is what you keep saying everyday, Collins. Have you no shame? You are living in a tiny 1 room apartment that looks like a pig stable and yet you can not afford to pay the rent on time? Pathetic." The landowner's face twisted in disdain. The young boys behind him sneered, their grip on their makeshift weapons tightening. Some violent set of boys who had nothing to do with their lives but go around, snatching money from peeps. It was their job anyways, curse them. Nathan clenched his fists, forcing himself to stay calm. "Look, I just need a little more time. I'm working two jobs, and I promise I'll have the money soon." The landowner scoffed. "Promises don't pay the bills, Collins. You've got until tomorrow. No money,

“It was a mistake, I... I can just..” Carlos raised his fist and slapped Nathan on his cheek twice. “You are a good-for-nothing piece of rag. I should have known that you are a scumbag before hiring you. How dare you upset Mr. Diego? Do you know who he is and do you know that you're feeding off him? If he doesn't patronise us in this bar, just think of how miserable your life would have been, you would have been by the roadside eating from the garbage!" Nathan felt that the insults rained on him were more than the crime he committed and he couldn't sit down and watch someone treat him that badly when all he made was a harmless mistake. Nathan felt that his years of tolerating his wickedly arrogant boss were over and he began, "Mr. Carlos, I understand the fact that you're my boss, but just because I made a mistake, which of course can be rectified doesn't give you the right to trash me with words.” “I know my rights and I know my worth, and because he is your best-paying custo

Everything happening seemed to be against Nathan, that was his thought and that was the truth. He knew that Vivian must have noticed what was happening, but to spite him more, she still asked and Enrique and Donald gave her the will for the fulfilment of her desire. "He repented and wants the job now, I told you he'll return, I'm like a prophet now. Prophet Enrique." Enrique bragged, feeling so like a superhero who predicted a fulfilled future. "Yeah, whatever, give him the job," Vivian spoke nonchalantly and began to walk away. "And my conditions?" Nathan quickly reminded her. A pin-drop silence enveloped the room with the six piercing eyes fixed on Nathan, they were piercing deeply into his soul and it got him cringing, though he maintained his stance. "What conditions?" Nathan was questioned. "The one I talked about when I spoke with y'all, I thought it would be granted after the job had been signed down to me," Nathan explained his thought. "Well, what can I say? You tho

Nathan felt his eyes forming tears but he blinked them in, knowing that no amount of tears would solve his problem, he picked up the bread and took a bite from it and it burnt his throat like it was not just a slice of bread, then he realized that they must have added something to the bread like chilli pepper which made the bread chilli. "Ah!" Nathan moaned in pain as it burnt his throat and tongue, and when he forcefully swallowed it, it burnt his stomach. He quickly picked up a cup and fetched some water from the sink tap to drink, he didn't even care to know whether the water was clean or not, he drank like that and drank til his stomach was filled with water and he ate up the bread even with the hotness. He was that hungry. When he was down eating, his face was so red and so was his throat, he was feeling so uncomfortable and all he wanted at that moment was a ball of ice to calm his pain. He sat down on the floor and kept on swallowing the phlegm building up in his throat and

Look what it took you to get here! You lost Fred, lost your employees, lost your wife, lost your sister! You are a loser, Nathan, and it will always be that way! Go on, walk away like you always do, but what I said just now is the truth, okay?” Alex roared out in agony and pain, trying to break free. His words kept opening a wound in Nathan’s heart. A wound that he was trying to heal, a wound he would spend a trillion dollars to completely close up. But Alex did not give a damn! He needed to lash out his own anger and cries. “I would kill you over and over again, brother. Our father was an asshole just like you. He hated me, he could not bear the responsibility of a son from his janitor. And I am the product of that disgusting intimacy, Nathan.” Alex’s voice broke. He didn’t want it to, but it did. His entire body shook,

Alex Reed struggled to breathe as hard as he struggled to see. He looked around and could barely see a thing. He was in a dark room and whoever the fuck put him there was merciful enough to place a dim light above his head, just enough for him to see his own breath. He tried to move, but his body was numb, and yes, he was tied to a chair, so he could not move. He had been captured. He tried to recall the last incident that happened to him. He was in his car, driving to the airport for his departure, and then he was drinking… Yes. He was poisoned by a man who was not Mark, his driver. Someone had ambushed him, and now, he was tied up to a stupid chair when he was supposed to be on the seat of his private jet. Clearly, it was Megan. Alex had been humiliated to the core already. He had Vanessa slap him ruthlessly in public, diminishing his pride, lowering his esteem in front of the whole world. Then, he had Emma threaten him. This was not right. This was not the Alex he had envision

Marcus’s breath hitched. His heart pounded in his ears, drowning out the sound of the wind rustling through the trees. His fingers curled into fists, and for the first time in years, he felt something he had long buried—fear. His lips parted slightly, but no words came. April, oblivious to the storm brewing within Marcus, stared at Neil’s grave with a mixture of shock and grief. “Neil…” she whispered, her voice cracking. “I—I didn’t even know he was buried here. I mean, I heard he was killed. And whoever did it, death to the person.” Mr. Frost said nothing. He simply stood there, his hands in his coat pockets, his head slightly tilted, watching Marcus the way a lion watches its prey—patient, unhurried, and inevitable. “You seem shaken, Marcus,” Mr. Frost finally said, his voice smooth, almost amused. “Why?” Marcus forced a dry chuckle. “I just… I wasn’t expecting this,” he lied. “It’s just bringing back memories.” “Ah,” Mr. Frost nodded, taking a slow step toward Neil’s grave.

  • CHAPTER 427 (FINALE)

“You said you wanted to see me?” Asked Marcus, panting. He had been running. He dared not disappoint Mr. Frost or make him wait. Especially because Mr. Frost had been cold towards him for a while. Marcus was not sure why Mr Frost would tell him to meet him at the cemetery. He literally just returned from a journey, not a vacation trip, a work trip to Dubai and he had been there for over 1 month, alone and away from all social connections, online and offline. “Did you bring your girlfriend as I requested?” asked Mr. Frost. “Yes I did, sir.” Marcus responded and signalled for April to come over. This was yet another strange thing. Why did he request for April too? April walked up to them and greeted Mr. Frost respectfully. Mr. Frost looked into her eyes and smiled, the type of smile that came from past lives and would live on for millions of years. His smile was so endearing, thought April, the very first day she met him. There was an aura he exuded that was so… so familiar, so

Mr. Frost stood there, silently allowing the breeze to softly kiss his tender skin. Tender? No, more like rough and craggy. In this context, many people would say he had been through hell and back. But this was not the case for Mr. Frost. He lived in hell, ate in hell, cried in hell, burnt in hell, revived, burnt again, defeated demons, defeated the devil himself, and took over control. But he was close. He was this close to losing it, this close to becoming the very thing that destroyed him. His life had been a mystery, a story that could cover over 2,000 pages and 400 chapters. If only he had been writing a story of his life, or at least just documenting some specific events or even writing a journal, then it might probably be the best selling book in the New York Times or even in the entire world. Maybe he would title it, “The Man Who Survived Hell and Ruled It.” or “A Man Called Revenge!” He scoffed. He gulped down his bottle of wine as he reminisced back to early orphan

“I… I’m sorry, Loulou. But this is it! You remember when you I used to carry that firewood back in Egypt? And then, I would… I would, um, fall and trip over? Then you would say, ‘Abni, adhhab wastriha. ead ghadan wasawf takun 'aqwaa’?” “Then I would run back home and cry. Ha!” Alex sniffed in. “I think this is the time, Loulou. I am falling. I am tripping over, and I cannot stand by and watch all that we have built crumble. I have no one left, Loulou. Vanessa has left me, Megan she… she is a fucking snake and had been a betrayer.” “All the people I called friends are fucking leeches. Parasites. I will be returning back to Egypt, Mom, but not for long. I will be back. Stronger and better.” Cozbi just lay there, eyes shut, breathing slow and paced. Alex was not sure when she would wake up or if leaving her was the right decision. But he smelled danger. First of all, Vanessa had actually been around all those times, and then Megan, whom he thought was going to be his salvation, turned

“Sir! Someone is here to see you!” George, his right hand man said. Donald was raging. He had been grinding his teeth for days now. What was going on? Him, Donald Arthur, one of the most feared men in the city, lost a fight to his useless son and to a little girl. He felt like a laughingstock. He had built his empire with blood, sweat, and absolute ruthlessness. He had crushed men who dared to stand in his way. He had destroyed families without blinking. And now? He had lost to them? To a boy who once cowered before him and a girl he never even considered a threat? Unacceptable. His fingers curled into fists, his knuckles turning white as he forced himself to breathe. He had been grinding his teeth so much that his jaw ached. "Who is it?" Donald snapped, his voice sharp as a blade. George hesitated. "He… uh, he didn’t give a name, sir. But he said you'd want to see him." Donald exhaled sharply, rubbing his temples. "If this is another damn journalist or some lowlife trying

Alex’s body went numb for two reasons. Firstly, her stomach was bloated. Secondly, it was Vanessa. His eyes bulged out, and he looked to Megan, who gave him a sly smile. Finally, their eyes interlocked. Alex could breathe her anger. It was like he was standing next to a fire, a hot lava, and one push from an inauspicious wind could lead to an untimely death. “You!” he said to Megan before taking slow steps to his ex, who was not official. Finally, they were sharing the same oxygen and staring eyeball to eyeball. “V.. Vanessa. I… Look, I know that…” Slap! Alex held his face. He felt humiliated. But he had to try one more time. “Vanessa. Whatever you think is not true. I…” Slap! Slap again. Slap the fourth time. This got onlookers making videos of the lady slapping the man at the airport. Alex could do nothing. He was trapped. His security guards were not with him, and he was in an open space; he could not raise hand or voice against a pregnant woman. “5 months, Alex Reed. 5

2 Weeks Later ‘Beep’ ’Beep’ ‘Beep’ The machines hymned rhythmically, echoing into the four walls of the hospital room. Cozbi’s situation did not seem to be getting any better. It was, in fact, worsening. Alex thumped his head on the wall repeatedly. “I told her! I fucking told her! I fucking told her not to meet with Mr. Frost. Now she has a fucking heart attack.” Alex roared, curled his fist into a ball, and punched the wall. But it only left him with a pulverised hand. “She will be fine,” said Megan to comfort him. “Do not tell me she will be fine. It’s been two weeks now, and my mother had not even lifted a finger. I knew her coming to the UK was a big red flag. And you,” Alex continued, focusing his attention on Megan, “You knew she was going in to see Mr. Frost, that… that god… or whatever his fucking title is. Yet you not only approved of it, you even went in with her. All of that without my consent!” Alex roared. Then Megan stood up and walked to him. “Alex, do not
