The night enveloped the world in a thick blanket of darkness, broken only by the soft glow of streetlights casting long shadows along the deserted streets. Liana stood alone outside her family home, her breath forming tiny clouds in the crisp night air. Her heart hammered against her ribcage as she watched the figure of Larry Conrad emerge from the shadows, his presence sending a chill down her spine.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, her nerves on edge.

Larry's eyes flicked towards her, his expression inscrutable in the dim light. "I could ask you the same thing," he replied, his voice low and tense.

Liana took a cautious step forward, her senses on high alert. "I saw you outside," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "What are you looking for?"

Larry hesitated for a moment, his gaze flickering towards the ground before meeting hers once more. "I needed to talk to you," he admitted, his voice barely audible over the distant hum of traffic.
