The Hotel (1)

The drive to the Chairman's mansion was long and tiring. Chris unknowingly slept off on one of the men sitting beside his shoulder. He was woken up by the buzzing sound of a ringing phone.

"I'm sorry to disturb your slumber. The chairman wants to speak with you." The man sitting opposite him said as he handed over the phone to Chris.

Chris cleared his throat and wiped the saliva that was at the corner of his mouth with the back of his palm. The man sitting beside him used a handkerchief to wipe the little sweat and saliva from Chris off his shoulder but Chris wasn't aware of his actions.

The Chairman's voice resounded in his ears, everyone seated was silent and the car stopped moving. "My very own grandson, how's the ride?" Came the chairman's voice.

"It's a boring one but I'm good," Chris said, shifting his gaze to the window.

His grandfather laughed over the phone. "I like you for your honesty. My men aren't the type to engage in conversations but rest assured they're good people."
