Chapter Forty Two
Alex's mind raced as he tried to process the scene before him. Olivia, his ex-girlfriend, sat on his bed, her eyes filled with tears. He felt a mix of emotions: anger, confusion, and a hint of sadness.

"Olivia, what are you doing here?" Alex demanded, his voice firm but controlled.

"I came to explain," Olivia said, her voice trembling. "I know I messed up, Alex. But I was scared. Scared of losing you."

Alex's anger boiled over. "You were scared of losing me? You're the one who's been threatening me! You're the one who's been putting my life in danger!"

Olivia flinched, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't mean for it to go that far, Alex. I swear. I was just trying to protect you."

Alex's eyes narrowed. "Protect me from what?"

Olivia hesitated, glancing around the room nervously. "From the people who want to hurt you, Alex. The people who are threatening you."
