Chapter 16 : In Custody.

I thought so because I knew these cops were after me. After all, I almost got Dominic hit by a vehicle. Thus, offending Menus.

Offending Menus, a crime organization was the main reason these cops were here.

'I'll face them'

I made up my mind and approached them.

I walked only a few steps before they noticed.

"Hands up! you're under arrest for an assault."

One of them shouted as he pointed a gun at me. When others saw this scene, they also aimed their pistols at me.

"Anything you say, may be used as evidence against you in court of law"

The cop added.

'In court of law? How funny?'

I was ready to spend some time in police cell but not in prison cell. Moreover, I had just beaten up a bully as a defense. That was a trivial matter between teenagers. How could it escalate to the extent of going to the court of law.

I stood where I was and raised my hands. My face was expressionless.

The cops carefully approached and arrested me. I could tell that they were aware of my superpowers.

I was made to sit at the back seat and was being watched by 4 cops. Two cops sat on my left and right. The other two sat on the front seats.

I didn't utter a single word which somehow surprised the cops. They expected me to strongly resist and they prepared very well but it seemed like they had wasted their energy and time.

However, they were still scared to scold me. Thus, they zipped their mouths.

"Brat, you got a nerve to bully someone? Just because you're a superhuman?"

The man in front seat of the car took the initiative to insult me. I wondered what gave him courage.

There was a hidden meaning in his words. I easily noticed it. He was saying that me an African-American kid had a nerve to insult a white kid just because I got superpowers. To make matters worse, the white kid was a member of Menus.

In my eyes, that was so ridiculous. How could an ordinary kid be of greater value than a superhuman?

I didn't reply to him because I didn't want to cause any trouble. This caused the cop to get even more courage. He stubbornly thought I was scared of him.

"Oh... you're so scared to the point you can not open that mouth of yours. It's good that you know your superpowers can not save you from bullets. Haha"

He said mockingly with an arrogant grin on his face.

From his speech I realized what gave him courage. It was a thought that I was afraid of being shot.

Haha, I could only hat off to him for thinking that well.

Not long after, we arrived at the police station. I was dragged out of the car violently unlike when I was getting in. It could be said that the cop who was dragging me also got courage after hearing what the cop in front seat said.

It no time, I was violently and mercilessly pushed into a large metalic bars cell. Due to impact I crashed heavily onto the floor. The cop who pushed me, smirked and left. He seemed to enjoy my suffering.

The cell was so big that it could accommodate over 50 people. Sluggishly raising my head, my gaze collided with countless cold and merciless gazes of the other arrested people in the cell.

According to their appearances, most of them were gangsters and seemed that it was not their first to be in police cell.

I calmly got up and sat on the same place, waiting to either being charged with a crime or released.

Suddenly, a figure stood before me. I raised my head and looked above only to see a terrifyingly looking man. The man was thin and had tattoos all over his white body with face as an exceptional.

He wore a tight white vest. He glanced at me coldly while snorting continuously. That meant he was used to snort drugs regularly.

However, I wasn't fazed at all since I had seen countless people like him. Moreover, he was an ordinary human. There was no way I could fear him.

"Take off your f*cking sweater"

He ordered as he squatted down.

I was wearing a black sweater with a hoodie. This man wanted to take away the sweater.

"You want to take it?"

I asked.

"Yes!"

He replied with only a single word but it clearly expressed his determination and dominance.

After all, these people were arrested and obviously, hadn't heard or read about me so they were not aware of my abilities. In addition, not everyone like to read newspapers.

Upon hearing the thin gangster's reply, I calmly took off my sweater and handed it to him.

"Good kid. I like obedient kids unlike that f*cking little bastard."

He said as he turned his head and glowered at someone.

I followed his line of sight and the moment I saw the person he was talking about my eyes lit up. I was surprised.

The person he was talking about was familiar to me.

"Aston!"

I shouted while getting up and dashed toward him.

Aston, that was his name. He looked pitiful and it was clear that he had been physically and mentally abused by either the cops or the thin gangster.

What surprised me was that Aston was a quiet and peaceful guy. How did he ended up in police custody?

Unlike me, Aston's performance at school was impressive especially in computer science.

Apart from school education, he had studied programming and hacking to the professional. He could write codes and create software programs, hacking tools and cyberspace viruses.

To put it simply, he was a computer genus. Everyone called him a computer geek.

Cyber crimes, that could be the only possible reason for his arrest'

I quickly dump away this thought after remembering that most cybersecurity matters were handled by FBI.
