Chapter 2 : Strange Light.

In this world money rules. It's different from worlds in fantasy novels where the strong rule the weak.

I run several online businesses including forex trading, graphic designing, visual effects and CGI artistic and many more but on small scales.

Davis was a hustler and a trader who buys and sell second hands items, especially electronics and sneakers.

"Quiet!"

The teacher shouted causing everyone to stop talking.

"You two. Stand up. What are your names?"

We stood up seemingly embarrassed. This teacher was going too far. She wanted to make fun of us. I felt a strong urge to curse in other words I curse in my mind.

"I'm Ethan"

"I'm Davis"

We replied with our gazes fixed on the floor in annoyance. My girlfriend was also in this class! This was so embarrassing.

"It seems like you don't have surnames. Humph!"

She exclaimed as she mocked us.

The class burst into a laugh. Our cheeks were burning in embarrassment.

"I'm Davis Clifford"

"Ethan Jordan"

We frantically said while smiling wryly.

"Alright... each of you, should answer this question."

Miss Cathy said firmly.

"What? Which question!? He he he"

I asked in puzzlement while chuckling as well as scratching my head.

What I heard were only her words, mentioning two boys. Then I realized that she was talking about us. I had no idea what was the question.

"Significant features of osmotic trope!"

Miss Cathy shouted.

"Alright, I don't know!?"

I replied while smiling.

"I...I think it's errr... mmm... I don't know too"

Davis replied too.

The class was filled with laughter and mockery yells once again. It was a happy moment for these students but an embarrassing moment for me and Davis.

The smiles on our faces were all fake.

"These legends are here to make money. Nothing more! Ha ha"

"Ethan, you forgot to cash some money. Remember!"

"No, he forgot to place a stop loss on his trade and he is frustrated!"

"Quiet!"

Miss Cathy shouted after having enough of it.

Silence visited the class again.

"You two, sit! But is that right? coming here just to watch your friends learning? Do you even think of your future? Hmph! I pity you"

She was disappointed with incompetent students like us.

We sat but I didn't take to heart her last words. At least I knew what was good for me.

Learning progressed.

Not long after, the break time bell rang!

****

I and Davis had a quick lunch and went to the math class, regardless that it was still a lunch time.

The outside was so boring, how could we spend a long time there?

I sat at the last seat at one of the corners of the classroom. That was not my usual spot though. I usually sat beside that seat.

It was break time and many students were outside having lunch. The owner of that 90 degrees seat was still outside too.

Davis sat on the seat in my front. That was where he used to seat all the time.

We chatted for a while before automatically stopping due to the effect of tiredness and boredom.

My eyes were fixed on the whiteboard which was 20 feet away from me in the front. I was deep in my thoughts.

I was thinking of myself writing on the whiteboard many different stupid sentences including these... 'PUNKS, I'M GETTING GOING. I DON'T WANT THE MATH CLASS. I HAVE A LOT OF MATTERS TO HANDLE'

There were also some other students present in the classroom.

On the other corner seat, sat Raymond calmly as he wrote something in a notebook. He spent most of his time studying and did like strolling around during break time.

This was the usual behavior of the well-known genius in the class as well as the entire school. He was hardworking. Of course, that was another reason why his performance was always great.

"Ray, can you help with this math problem?"

A deep voice spread throughout the classroom. However, it didn't disturb me. I merely glanced at the one who spoke and progress with my silly thoughts.

A tall and burly young man walked in and approached Ray. He held a notebook and a pen in his hands. This student was known as Fredrick and others called him a giant, due to his sturdy figure. He was a student in grade 11.

Fredrick handover the notebook to Raymond.

Raymond received it without hesitation. He was submissive and open to everyone. He would help everyone who approached him.

"This problem, I attempted to solve it but mmm... it's too difficult. I hope you'll help me"

Fredrick slightly bent to take a closer look at how Raymond would solve it.

Raymond kept fixedly staring at the problem in the notebook without saying anything. Everyone could tell from his expression that he was finding it a little difficult too. However, he couldn't give up. That wasn't his character. He continued thinking about how to solve it.

Fredrick was playfully hitting Ray's desk with his fist while waiting for Ray to come up

"It's too t.."

After a moment of silence, Raymond finally opened his mouth and spoke but he suddenly stopped as he was interrupted by a bright and dazzling light that flashed on both two corners at the back of the classroom. Precisely, where I and Raymond sat. Fredrick was standing beside Ray so the light flashed on him too.

The light was like a cloud of dazzling light falling on us.

In an instant, the light disappeared.

"Did you see it? I saw bright sparks of light"

"Yes, of course. It seems like light falling from the sky onto the classroom"

"Yeah. It also looked like small meteors falling onto the roof of class C."

Some students outside the classroom were discussing about the light.

"Ahhh! What is happening? What has happened to them?"

At that moment, an ear-splitting scream was heard from the grade 12 class.
