Chapter 20 : A Lesson.

Nextly, came two men together. These were ones who shouted my name when I beaten up the first cop.

"We had a fight in the club due to the effect of too much alcohol."

Indeed these men looked gentlemanly unlike the others whom anyone could tell at a glance that they were gangsters.

I let these men to go too.

Among about 50 men, I released 13 men. I ordered 9 of the 13 men to wait for me at the dead end lane.

Those 9 men were gangsters and my aim was to let them join Reddos. In my mind, I was already a leader of Reddos. After all, once I joined the crew, I would automatically become a leader.

"Lock those guys."

I commanded as I pointed at the remaining men.

Then, I turned around to leave along with Aston.

"You realised criminals. Even if I can't subdue you, I won't let you go so easily. I'll kill you."

A young female cop blocked my way, out of the blue.

She pointed a gun at me and had a serious expression. I couldn't help being surprised, these woman was so brave to block my way and it was something no one had anticipated.

"Officer Spears, don't be stubborn, get out of a way"

The cop whom I reprimanded previously shouted.

He couldn't wait for me to leave the station. Yet someone was actually stopping me. It gave him headache.

"Captain Jeremy, letting him go is breaking our rules as well as failing our duties and responsibilities as police officers. He had released criminals and those criminals would continue committing crimes again and again. Our duty and responsibility is to minimize crimes in the city."

The young cop known as officer Spears said in dignified way.

However, many officers like her only do that when they were naive and inexperienced. Once, they got experienced and knew what's on ground, their loyalty vanished.

Before captain Jeremy could say anything, I chuckled and said,

"You're an interesting and loyal officer. You deserve the police uniforn as well as the badge unlike these corrupt and greedy officers."

I was saying these words while sauntering toward her.

My hands were calmly clasped at my back.

She was slightly nervous because she had witnessed my strange and mysterious abilities with her own eyes. Moreover, In my hands that were clasped at my back, I held a gun which I(s) snatched from captain Jeremy.

"Take your gun"

I returned the gun to captain Jeremy.

To deal with this young woman, I did not need to use any weapon or any form of coercion.

"Officer Spears, I have a question for you."

At this moment, my expression turned serious.

I stepped closer to her and asked,

"You said those people I have released are criminals?"

She nodded and seemed curious to know my motive.

"Alright, but what about me? am I not a criminal too?"

My question somehow surprised her as well as everyone watching. It was as I was betraying myself. No one could tell my motive behind this question.

"Of course, you're also a criminal and although you're young, you're worse than them."

I expected that kind of a reply.

"Alright, you said I'm a criminal but do you know that although I'm here, I have done nothing wrong?"

I asked.

Officer Spears didn't reply. She only stared at me blankly. She was confused.

"I was walking down a street. Some young gangsters popped out of nowhere and blocked my way. They intended to bully me as usual. To defend myself I beaten them up.

"That is the reason I got arrested. Captain Jeremy, am I spouting any nonsense?"

Captain Jeremy lowered his head upon hearing that question. In fact, I wasn't making up stories.

"Had I committed any crime by defending myself from bullies?"

I asked in a serious tone which was enough to tell that I wasn't lying.

Officer Spears had been a teenager before. Obviously, she was aware of bullying practices. It was certain that she had been bullied before.

Furthermore, defending yourself from bullies had never been a crime as far as the other party didn't get seriously injured.

Upon hearing that, a trace of surprise appeared on her and still didn't have calories to spend on uttering a single word. She was ruminating silently.

"Officer Spears, I'm a criminal?"

I asked in a complaining tone.

She slightly shook her head.

"In that case, what lesson have you learned?"

Another question left my mouth.

At that moment she hardly separated her lips.

"I have learned that some police officers are partial and unfair to some people."

She replied in a soft voice.

By this time, she had long put down the gun she was aiming at me.

"That's right, but the main lesson I want you to learn and remember forever and ever is that never consider the people in custody as criminals. They are not criminals until they are found guilty on a court of law.

"Some of those people are innocent as I am but they unfairly ended up in police custody. But can their innocence be written on their forehead? That's why I am saying you should not see all of them as criminals and trouble makers"

Officer Spears was deeply captivated by my words.

The words were profound and educative despite being said by I, a mere teenager boy.

"Officer Spears, have a nice day."

I abruptly paid farewell and left the room.

Officer Spears was slightly startled as she watched me leaving the room.

This time, she no longer had intentions to stop me.

"Captain, should we inform the headquarters about this matter?"

A male cop asked.

Threatening the police and releasing arrested victims were both big crimes. Since, the station had failed to subdue me, the next move should be informing the headquarters.

"Don't... don't do such nonsense. They will think we're incompetent."

Captain Jeremy strongly disapproved him.

The headquarters would ask for information such as the crime I had committed which could expose his deeds.

Of course, he could create a fake crime for me but officers like spears could not tolerate it. Thus, the better option was to keep quiet.
