CHAPTER 159

For the resting of the mind, Gary stood outside the apartment, hands in his pocket, eyes on the sky.

His head was still swimming from all that had happened recently, his mind still reeling with the fact that he had accepted to get married to Fallon because of the promise he made to her mother.

However, it scared him. On one hand, he never wants to lose Laura. On another end, he wouldn't wait to see the Larsons push around an innocent girl like Fallon. He was ready to do whatever it takes to protect her as long as it doesn't jeopardise his marriage.

So deep in thought, he didn‘t hear the door open and didn‘t connect with reality until Fallon poked him from behind.

“Hey,” She said softly, and he could feel the smile forming on her lips even without turning around to look at her.

“What are you doing out here?”

“Thinking,” Gary answered truthfully, his voice barely above a whisper as well.

“How much of what Alora said did you hear yesterday before walking in?”

“A bit,”
