"Please, you must at least stay and have some drinks with us to celebrate." The mother insisted and Alex immediately caught on to what she was trying to do. She did not want him to just stay and talk, she wanted to boost about his relationship with her daughter to her friends and use that to feel great again.

Alex smiled as he caught on to the woman's plan and decided that he would not be a part of such drama. He had more pressing issues to attend to.

"Well, more disappointed than upset. After all, you invited me to your party and did not care to follow up to know if I would be coming or not.
