Not only did that man manage to hide his presence from her, but he also visibly wanted to do a show of force to her, as he filled not one, but a few hundred glasses, without letting a single drop of blood fall to the floor.

She somehow had a strong, imperious feeling that she not only NEEDED to kill him but also had to keep his intact brain and sexual parts…
After some time pondering she didn't find the source of it, but she felt that it came from her entire being.

She then became Rald again.
Without losing a second, he washed himself of all the blood with one of the blood-sucking plants he kept in his laboratory.
It was already morning, and he had a meeting.
With that fly that bothered him gone, it was now time for him to go to work.
------------------------------
-Good morning, Rald.
It's now been 2 weeks since Rald started his work at the biggest laboratory on the planet. Not that it was particularly impressive, but its scale was still impressive for this world.
This morning, just like every other morning, he entered the building.
-Hello, Rald.
The closer he was from the center of the laboratory, the less polite people were to him.
-Hi Rald.
That did however seem quite logical, as most of the higher hierarchy in this building was closer to the center. He was not the only alchemist working here too.
-Hey Rald.
Even though he did have the highest position, given to him according to his level of ability, people still weren’t bootlicking him.
-How're you, Raldy?
If it was not blatantly disrespecting him. They were way tamer when he arrived for the first time, but they quickly got the hang of his personality.
With the goal of productivity in mind, all the alchemists here are in constant competition, so politeness has little place here.
-Hmm.
To the point no one is even saying hello, too concentrated on their actual experiments to experience anything close to a discussion.
Having everyone working on their own truly wasn’t as good for productivity as you’d think, it was even pretty bad, but that was the best part of the Rald’s day.
Rald stopped before his experiment table.
He took a few, long, deep breaths to concentrate, then went back to work.
Alchemy was still Rald's passion, or else, why would he have spent three reincarnations worth of life doing the same thing?
[…]
-Success!
Rald heard a delighted shout.
But he didn’t even bother to take a look.
From the smell alone, he already knew what the other alchemist did. Rald already knew what he was experimenting on days ago, and it probably didn’t change since.
He transformed a deer into cooked chicken. Even worse, using an artifact as support.
They would never accept this solution. Not only can you not mass produce with an artifact, their goal wasn’t to get the cooked chicken itself, it was to produce it with maximum efficiency and minimum cost. A deer is way bigger than a chicken and way harder to raise.
If that was what they wanted, they would have raised chickens long ago and be done with it! Potatoes are the easiest, cheapest thing to cultivate and mass-produce in this world, this is why Rald chose it in the first place, and why they kept that base too.
If an alchemist wasn’t able to get that, he might as well be killed on the spot.
Rald went back to his experiments.
A while later, he indeed heard a tragic scream.
He sighed… Again an alchemist killed by the sword…
-What are you sighting at?
Rald was surprised someone managed to hear his sigh. That proved that that person’s ears were really good.
It was a man, one of the supervisors around here. He probably came to inspect their work. They are the ones spending money, after all.
-I need more resources.
Rald said with a calm tone.
That seemed to anger the man, who immediately shouted:
-More resources? Who do you think you are? The best alchemist of… all…times…?
His voice clearly died down towards the end. There was indeed a doubt on whether Rald or Gimmindiot’s daughter 400 years ago was the best alchemist of all times. Saying there is a doubt was an euphemism, which the company used as much as possible. There was no way Rald wouldn’t have progressed over several centuries.
-... … ...
-Hmm?
Rald didn’t hear what the man was saying just now.
-Nothing! I said nothing!
-Didn't you say that the best alchemist of all times is the only one who'd be able to obtain more resources?
-I…
-Then thanks! It happens that I need resources.
Rald didn’t give him any time to reply. While it was true he tended to be a pushover, he did have undeniable dedication to his craft when it came to alchemy, and did whatever he needed for it.
Knowing fully what would happen, he left the room, leaving the man dumbfounded and hesitant.
After leaving the room, he waited, and started counting.
30…

-Wait!
He never gave him the list of materials he'd need before leaving, and having to be the one to wait put him in a position of strength.
[...]
He exaggerated a bit on the amount of materials he needed, and the urgency of the matter. The result was, expectedly, that the company put money on his debit card, so he would be able to go buy the materials himself. They’d rather not waste the salary they’re paying him, after all, and express delivery is rare enough to be exorbitantly priced in this world.
The debit card is another thing that came with this world entering in contact with the technologically advanced one. This level of technology did however stand out compared to everything around the city. Seeing people in stone houses accept debit cards payments was indeed quite a sight.
As for why Rald had one, it was simple. As much as Rald preferred the old-fashioned coins he could see and touch, he still had to have one to work for Gimmindiot.
Time to go to do some shopping!
Rald entered the toilets.
He then took a bottle from a bag he always carried with him.
He put a little piece of brain on the side of his actual brain.
Rald now had a new ability. He could fly!

-Rald, are you ready? Anonyma felt anxious. This time, his emotions weren't faked. He really was anxious. With the return of Shem, emotions came returning too, akin to tidal waves… Powerful, huge, strong! But this was not the only reason. The only thing he was sure about was that he wasn't worried about Rald, but about his plan itself. He couldn't stop himself from reviewing everything in his head from the start to the end. Would his plan work? Anyway, Rald already learned his arts. He should be strong enough to not screw his plan over. -Yes, teacher. A teacher-student relationship was important. Even if Anonyma didn't really consider him as his student, he still needed to keep the act up in front of Rald. It creates tru

One of the less logical and most law-breaking things in the universe, another would say. That's just a question of karma, some would say. But in reality, what is luck? Did someone decide that luck must be like that? Did someone decide that luck must be so random? Or did someone decide you had a certain chance of dying of cancer, of having a wife, or of w

Contrarily to the character the name came from, she's devilishly sexy, and really gives a perfect example of the words 'femme fatale'… Beautiful but deadly. As I enter my home, I find my sister already there, nibbling on a cookie in the kitchen. -You're here? -I finished early and I had nothing planned, so... -I see. I put down my stuff, and join her after-school snack. -Oh, by the way, wanna eat something particular today? I turn around. It was my voice, but it didn't come from me. Turns out that one face is sticking out from the kitchen's entrance, and it's mine. Well, not mine per se, but mine.<
Fuck! Fuck fuck fuck… I'm late! Who thought I'd sleep through my alarm clock… I hurry up, get dressed, and leave my room. I'm late by almost 4 hours. As I get down the stairs, I seriously consider the utility of actually going. I have about 6 hours and a half of courses in the day. Minus 4 hours it makes it down to 2 and a half. Minus the time to eat, and the 30 minutes to walk all the way there, it would eat 1 more hour into it. In the end, is it worth walking 1 hour in total to have 1 hour and a half of courses? How troublesome… Lately, it seemed to be the only thought getting through his mind. As the Secretary of Defense of the United States, he was supposed to have some level of authority, but, with the recent events, things had too much of a tendency to be out of his hands. With supernatural matters that could threaten national security visible to the public, he felt like he visited the President's desk more than his own. It could almost be seen as enough to warrant the creation of a highly secure internal mailing system, if such a system wasn't deemed to be eventually broken through. In fact, it could be observed that he was seen in the White House than the cans of coke the president kept drinking. Today was no different.Volume 10 - re:D.D. (23) - Troublesome

She wasn't feeling much. In fact, both her senses and awareness were limited, for she was currently part of a gigantic mass of flesh. She was right at the center. Maybe it was because her individuality was slowly disappearing, but she had a small moment of clarity. Right as her zombie part was slowly integrating into a greater consciousness, her human side, which had disappeared ever since she became a zombie, reappeared. As her reason came back, it was hit with a truckload of memories, and she was met with horror. It wasn't just what she became or what she did, but also where she was. She could only see darkness, she could hear nothing, she could only feel a wriggling wall of flesh all around, as if she was bathing in it. Give me a word I'll make a world

Seeing how difficult my choices are becoming, it is likely that my sister is faced with considerably difficult choices too. Preventing negative consequences might not be the best way to deal with things. Sometimes, doing a trade-off might be better. Of course, I have no way to know if my sister also has choices and not another form of using her angels, but it doesn't change the fact that I trust her ability to pick the best path. If she decided that sacrificing Sydney was necessary, then I trust her. While I might be a bit short-sighted, I believe she has tVolume 10 - re:D.D. (20) - The Wave of Change
Over the past 4 days, today included, which is when I usually write this novel in the week, I've not written anything. I've been a bit out of it lately, and while I've had reason to attribute it to fatigue up to now, as I was genuinely constantly tired, I've had time to sleep more since then, and I'm still not better. Overall, I feel a lack of inspiration, and a lack of will to do anything. I've still been able to pump out quite a few good chapters, but I think I reached the limit. I know it sounds sudden, but I'm going to take a break for a short while. Back in June was when I started writing everyday for my various novels, after a month, I was a bit burned out and took a break. I then was back 3 weeks later and have been since then. Originally, it was more about testing my limits, and it turned into an habit, but I still think I should still stay within the bounds of being well enough to write quality chapters. Anyway, less than a month ago, I was g
If something in this world deserved to be called a monster, the gigantic pile of flesh currently going through Sydney was definitely the one. After all, it wasn't figuratively, but literally going through Sydney. Sydney wasn't the capital of Australia, but it was definitely its biggest city by population. A position that it would definitely lose to Melbourne after the current disaster striking it is finished. If it is ever finished, and if there is any way to compile the body count. Meanwhile, the prime offender was absorbing people at an extremely fast rate, as it was storming through the city. It was rolling through the city. Yes, rolling. Whatever it was, the collective entity quickly understood that rather than focusing on
When talking about such an elusive concept as a Warp Drive, there were multiple areas of expertise that needed to reach a certain level to develop one.Of course, science fiction, which was originally inspired by science, had now long turned around and influenced several generations of scientists and physicists. And so, a lot of people already worked on it. While saying it was your main domain of research would attract scornful glares, and some did attract such glares since 1994, but working on a few papers several times in your career wasn't a problem. In fact, the implications of warp drives on the current model of quantum physics made it a pretty interesting research subject for various specialties. And this was why, when in early 2021, a paper proposed a theoretical model for warp drive, it attracted a deep inte
