A young mother sat down, with her baby in her arms.

At the same time, not far away from where she was, a particularly loud group of teens arrived.

A few minutes later, her kid cried. She first attributed it to the noise, and tried to calm him down. But a few seconds later, she understood he was simply hungry, and started feeding him.

It was a calm scene.

As she started feeding her baby, lightly holding his head, she felt a slight pain from his underdeveloped teeth. She tried to have him clench his mouth less, and adjusted her position.

And here we go. This is the concept I had to ground the story into its reality. When in the confines of the brother and sister's house, or maybe their school, it doesn't feel real. You don't understand the impact it has. By showing directly those impacted by their decisions, you get the stakes way better. They choose between stats, but these stats have a life. I hope I did a good job describing stuff. A lot of the descriptions (except the slums themselves) are from personal experience rather than my research, so I hope it makes sense to everyone. PS: I just learned while writing this that footballs are just footballs, not football balls oO.
