The setup is simple.

I have the Pope alone in the center of the room, and everyone else hidden.

I thought for a while about what it could be that made me invisible to its eyes, and I could only settle for energy as an answer.

Devils aren't so different from other species on the constitution side, but they are constantly full of energy.

Because of its concentration, it is more common to see Devils as balls of energy brighter than the sun. But it could also be, that to a creature that feels through energy but is unable to feel a range of energies that includes Devils would have all other forms of energy emitted by the Devils go undetected.

When writing, I had in mind a Doctor Who esque situation and a Doctor Who esque resolution, the Moffat way. I hope I did well. I was so tired I had eaten into my stockpile until a single chapter was left. I have had severe sleep deprivation lately. I hope it won't be that hot all summer, or I might just die. At least I had already written everything I needed for this arc, so I'm not in need of inspiration, and I could write an additional chapter as of the day of writing. But I'm truly lacking the ability to concentrate and not fall asleep when writing.
