Chapter 19

A light laugh, full of mischief, welled up from him.

But I do it all the time.

I narrowed my eyes. At this very moment, his wickedness did not cause me the slightest fear. On the contrary, she was totally enraged. She felt her face red with anger. She wanted to pour a pail of holy water over her so that she would feel a bit of the pain the girl had felt.

But, much to my chagrin, I knew I couldn't. I knew that I had no chance against him, and that all I would get would be for him to hurt me.

I pursed my lips, glared at him, and crossed my arms, knowing there was nothing I could do but try to appease my anger. Despite my outburst, however, Azazziel seemed amused by my reaction. His stupid smile hadn't faded from his face. I pursed my eyelids, and did breathing exercises to lessen my anger. I just prayed that the stranger was okay and that whatever he did to her, it wasn't so bad.
