Chapter 329

He walked down the hallway, with me on his heels. The small place managed to upset me more than I already was; The only sound he could hear, besides our footsteps, was my heavy breathing. Then, when we got to the bottom, he opened the last door.

A relatively square but wide area appeared on the other side. The lights ended there, so the only thing I was able to make out inside were some strange, still, terrifying-looking shadows.

Hythro walked into the room, getting lost in the darkness. I stayed a couple of meters away from the door. My common sense reacted and my numb hands—maybe from the cold, or from fear, I didn't know—took one of the torches from the hallway wall. I took a deep breath, exhaling a shaky sigh, and forced my legs forward.

The door closed behind me, without me having touched it.

The light from the fire in my hand allowed me to see the demon turn towards me. His face, pale and dark, maintained a very severe expression.
