My lips pursed as I glanced at the clock on the wall behind the bar, realizing I finally had to go.

I didn't miss Diana shoving my shoulder as she bolted out. Her childish act stunned me, before anger engulfed me. I ground my teeth, holding back my urge to face her, but I already had enough trouble to fight her again. While she might be annoyed that she wasn't making any effort to apologize to me, she just couldn't find me in the mood for it.

Perhaps, in a way, it was better this way. If Diana noticed that Khaius was hanging around me, she'd probably want to know about him. And I wouldn't let her risk it like that.

I was grateful, inwardly, that the devil made an effort to give me my space. He was walking almost a street away from me, and he was not accompanying me on the bus trip; but, even so, he arrived before me at my house. And there it stayed. Waiting outside.
