It's not because she doesn't like the dress, it's because she has to go to the party with William. She doesn't like William, even though her boss said he is a good person and trusts him.To her, William is incompetent and doesn't fit into their category. Even though the driver is trying his best to discourage William from leaving the car, he gently places Alice's head against the headrest, and he steps out of the car.
