Close Call

The lady at the front desk was a rude person, and Laura perceived it from afar.

As a matter of fact, she could remember the lady from the first and only other time she was at the Bueno's hotel.

And the lady could pretty much remember her as well.

"Don't I know you?" The lady asked Laura, looking at her suspiciously.

Laura didn't trust anybody, so she denied having ever met that woman before.

When she revealed herself, the lady would go and tell Barter that his former girlfriend was living in the hotel.

It would be such a catch.

Besides, Laura was already skeptical, feeling that she had already told the lady enough for her to remember who she was.

"Room 405 or 407," the lady repeated as she squinted at her computer, checking for any available rooms in that number.

"Both of them are free. But they are the cheapest rooms in the hotel, full of bed bugs and all. Why do you want those nasty rooms?" the lady asked Laura as she fished for the room keys.
