''What do you think, Barter? Since rumors have started to spread that I am alive, I might as well start to go out,'' Mr. Ban said to Barter.Barter frowned in shock. ''That's a risky idea running through your mind, boss. Why do you want to go out?'' Barter asked.''Boredom. A lot is happening out there, I am making a lot to happen out there, yet here I am, locked up like a prisoner. My name is on everyone's lips, literally. But I cannot enjoy the attention because I am staying out of sight. I bet it is time to make something happen. It's time to flip the page of the script,'' Mr. Ban said with an ambitious smirk on his face. ''Boss, don't let your ego get the best of you. You are winning now boss. Look at the charts, they are back to being green and staying green, yet you want to go out there and surrender yourself to your rivals? No boss. I cannot let you do that, I cannot let that happen,'' Barter explained. ''So what are you suggesting? that I stay indoors, hiding for the rest o
Greg Chase allowed Scissors access to the surveillance that they had on Shadow. "He's Barter's friend, and they hang out together pretty often so if you listen closely enough, you might get Barter in a day or two," Greg Chase explained to Scissors as he handed over the surveillance to scissors. Scissors made a face. No wonder Greg Chase was skeptical about if he could do the job or not, both men were heavy duties that won't be easy to get past. Barter was a menace on his own, but if Shadow was going to be there when the kidnap was to take place it would be such a tussle. Scissors sighed. "What?" Greg Chase asked. "I would have been damned if I had gone on this task all by myself," Scissors replied. Greg Chase smiled. "I tried to warn you. But you can look for a way to get Barter alone. Maybe on his way to meet Shadow, you can corner him before he gets to Shadow. Shadow is a mess. I'd rather you don't even let him know when the kidnap happens. Apart from the fact that I don't w
Barter observed Scissors, trying to figure out who he was. No doubt, Barter knew that Scissors was from the rival faction, but under whose command exactly? From the way, Scissors was dressed, and the care and the well-thought-out way he had captured Barter, Barter started to think that Scissors was one of the mercenaries that Greg Chase had hired.Did Greg Chase still have enough money to maintain those mercenaries? Everyone knew that they were costly. Greg had been out of business for a long time, enough to make him consider doing away with the mercenaries if he was not courting bankruptcy. "Here," Scissors said and tossed a pair of handcuffs at Barter while he watched Barter step out of the car. Barter took the handcuffs and put them on, all the while, glaring at Scissors closely. "Who are you? Who sent you?" Barter asked. "Get inside the car, don't ask me no shit," Scissors replied. "What about my car? Are you just going to leave it there with my gun in the pigeonhole?" Bart
Barter looked at Greg Chase for as long as he could, then he suddenly started to laugh ridiculously."Are you kidding me or what?" he asked Greg. Greg Chase shook his head."Of course not, and very soon you will find out how deeply I am not kidding you," Greg said to Barter. Barter held his breath. So far, Greg Chase and Scissors had treated him pretty decently. The only thing that made Barter seem like a prisoner was the handcuff he had on. Apart from that, he was in decent shape. But from the last comment that Greg Chase made, Barter knew that it was only a matter of time before Greg started handling him roughly. "Ban is dead, please. And, we are guarding the house, so we were naturally alert when intruders came in. Nobody told me anything. Let me out of these cuffs," Barter insisted.Greg Chase stared at Barter. "Take my advice and say the truth. For the last time, is Ban alive and inside his villa or not?" Greg Chase asked, ignoring the question of who the snitch was."Mr.
Hearing the phone that was ringing, Greg Chase snatched it from Scissors. ''Answer it before it goes off,'' he said as he took the phone from Scisoors. Greg pressed the green button. He put the phone over his ear, waiting to hear the familiar sound of Mr. Ban's voice. There was silence. Of course, Mr. Ban was not stupid, he knew he had to be cautious while trying to find out where Barter was. Mr. Ban immediately knew that Barter had been taken, so he signaled the guard that came to tell him about Barter's disappearance, and asked him to talk to Barter. ''Hello, Barter,'' the guard said. Barter recognized the colleague's voice instantly, and deep inside him, he was extra glad that Mr. Ban did not reveal himself. How thoughtful. ''Mayos, what's up?'' Barter asked. ''I'm good. I saw your car outside. Are you good? Your car is parked outside weirdly,'' Mayos said to Barter. There was silence. Barter wished he could call out for help, but from the way Greg Chase was glari
Meanwhile, Greg Chase had told Don Black and the rest of the gang that he had Barter under arrest. It was exciting to hear, especially Don Black. He couldn't wait to see Barter.''Has he told you if Ban is alive?'' Don Black asked Greg Chase.''Of course not, what do you expect? Would you have told me if you were in his shoes?'' Greg asked Don Black. ''Well...'' Don Black replied.''If he is scared of torture, he might spill it,'' Don Black replied. Greg shook his head where he was.''He didn't spill it, that's why I arrested him in my house so that he may have a change of mind by the time he does not eat nor drink for three straight days,'' Greg Chase said to Don Black over the phone.''What? You plan to starve him?'' Don Black asked, his tone sounding very surprised, and a little bit worried. ''Yes, I do. I think that would work faster than beating him up. We have been beating him for the past twenty-four hours and he has not still said anything, so...'' Greg Chase replied. ''H
At Greg Chase's house, Barter had started to feel the brunt of being starved and punished. It took him one full week to become as weak as he was. Greg Chase was shocked.Barter looked strong, quite alright, but he didn't just look strong, he was actually strong in person. Also, something at the back of his mind told him that Mr. Ban would come to his rescue. He knew that help was coming for him, and that was what made him have an iota of hope. Nevertheless, he hoped that he would be saved soon before Greg Chase killed him out of impatience.''You are still holding on to your loyalty to Mr. Ban?'' Greg Chase opened the door of Barter's room and asked him. Then Greg Chase scoffed. ''You stink, Barter,'' he said. Barter didn't need anyone to tell him that. He had stayed in that room for days without taking a shower, brushing his teeth, or changing his clothes. Of course, he would stink. In fact, he could perceive himself. ''Ban will skin you alive. Don't you worry, Mr. Chase? Yo
Shadow was in Greg Chase's house within the shortest possible hour. He didn't have any reason to be there but to find out where Barter was. He was sure that Barter was either at Don Black's house or Greg Chase's house. Shadow had been to Don Black's house earlier for a flimsy reason, and confirmed that Barter was not there, so he looked for another flimsy reason to pay Greg Chase a visit. At Don Black's house, Don Black had already broken the news that Greg Chase had Barter in his custody, so Shadow didn't necessarily need a reason to visit Greg Chase, even if he claimed that he knew how to attack Mr. Ban after being to his house and seeing the layout. "Mr. Chase, since I knew you, you have always been special," Shadow said to Greg Chase as he entered Greg Chase's living room. Greg barely flashed a smile. He wondered why Shadow was being so light hearted at him. Shadow was always so heavy towards him. He always did everything he could to make Greg know that he didn't like him.
