Nagid silently held out his hands and Mat understood without being told and he gave him a handkerchief.

He gently cleaned her face as she enjoyed her candy.

The lessee didn’t look like someone who would abandon a child.

As his gesture just now showed otherwise.

“The candy is not too sweet. I said I wanted the sweeter one”.

“That is bad for your health”.

He said as he continued to gently clean her face.

“But I want”.

She said as tears were being to fall from her eyes again.

Nagid did not become angry nor did he coax her to stop crying.

Rather he took the handkerchief again and cleaned the new tears that had fallen.

“I do not want you to have bad breath and bad teeth. You can eat those when you grow big. Then you can buy all the candy in this world”.

“Really”.

She asked cheerfully.

He nodded to show his approval.

Anna was at loss for what to do.

This was the first time she has acted without thinking and looked where it got her.

The people in the restaurant were still looking at them.
