A PART OF Jon grew mellow and unsure of his situation but another part, the rich Stone part was defiant. And that was the part that came out.

Rico and Kim laughed and brushed past Jon, bumping hard against his shoulders.

Jon turned slowly and looked at them, "Well fuck you. The both of you can go to hell…"

Rico stopped and turned, "What did you say?"

Jon pushed his chest out a bit and stood tall. "I said fuck the both of you. I am going in there…" He pointed to the shop, " … and I am going to buy a gift. A very expensive gift for someone."

There was silence for a moment before Rico burst out laughing. "Kim… Kim… did you hear that?" He continued laughing.

"I did hear what he said," Kim replied coldly. Her face did not show any hint of a smile, "You can't afford a gift of more than 100 dollars, Jon. And even for that, you would have to almost starve for 3 months."

Jon smiled, "Yes… that was then. And besides, you're never worth anything more than 100 dollars, Kim."

Kim gasped. Her face turned red out of anger and embarrassment, even Rico snickered at what Jon said.

She stared at Jon in anger for a moment, and as she opened her mouth to talk, Jon raised his hand to quell her, "Just hold it in, Kim. I can't stand you."

With that, he turned, opened the door and entered the shop, leaving Rico and Kim standing outside with her mouth half open.

"Nope, I have to see this," Kim muttered to herself. "I need to see him disgraced in the shop." She entered the shop after Jon. Rico looked lost for a moment, then he shrugged and followed Kim. "That some of a bitch is trying to save face by pretending to buy something from here. I also need to see him disgraced!"

Jon turned to look behind him when he heard the bell tinker lightly because someone opened the door. He turned and saw Kim and Rico behind him. He smiled and turned towards the counter where a group of shop attendants stood.

The shop attendants looked up too at the sound of the bell, they flashed wide smiles at the new customers – Jon, Kim and Rico – their smiles died off when their gaze focused on the customer directly in front of them.

They saw his t-shirt which was a food delivery shirt. And his worn-out jeans. A few of them scoffed, and some others sneered.

Kim saw their reaction and turned to Rico, "Did you see that?" She gave a girly laugh. "Rico, Rico, please tell me you saw that."

Rico nodded.

"You see, Jon." Kim said, walking up to Jon, "They know you are a failure and a fraud. You are a nobody."

"I would like to get something from here, please," Jon said calmly even though he was boiling inside.

"Jon. Poor Jon." Kim said mockingly. "Listen, your whole family combined isn't worth the cheapest thing here."

Jon was surprised at the unexpected flare of protection and loyalty he felt that rushed up to his head, but he calmed it down as he realized that Kim has no idea. She still knew him as Jon Crutcher, the poor orphan that was raised in a Foster home and worked two jobs as a food delivery man and a cleaner.

She did not know him as Jonathan Stone. Heir to the Stone Empire.

So he calmed down, "She is not referring to the Stone family." He said to himself.

"Yeah? Yeah?" Kim asked, putting her face up to his. "What was it you said?"

Jon turned away, avoiding her face. "Go away from my space." He muttered.

"You can't afford a space!" Kim yelled.

Luckily, they were the only customers in the shop so the shop attendants were all free to enjoy this drama to their satisfaction.

"I said I would like to buy something from here!" Jon said in an authoritative voice.

The person who was the leader gestured to another sales girl, "Go on, attend to him."

The young sales girl who had not smiled at any ridicule thrown at Jon was just finally happy at being allowed to handle a sale. She was the newest employee at the store and had not been allowed to handle a sale before.

"Good morning, Sir." She said politely. "What would you like to have?"

Kim rested on the glass counter, paying incredible attention to the conversation between Jon and the sales girl.

"Um, I saw a Louis Vuitton bag on the window show glass outside. I think it's very fashionable and I like it." Jom said, " … and now, I think I like this too." He pointed at a small bottle of perfume.

The sales girl smiled, "The bag is a Louis Vuitton 1989 limited edition. It was specially hand sewn by Louis Vuitton herself."

"What of the bottle of perfume?" Jon asked, pointing.

"That is a Channel, sir. Also a limited edition." The sales girl said. She never once stopped smiling politely.

Kim stood by, "I'm sure you've never seen anything like them before." She sneered at Jon.

"Can you just leave me alone?" Jon snapped.

"Hey, watch how you talk to her." Rico intervened.

The shop attendants seemed to take Kim's side as there were affirming nods being given as Rico threatened Jon.

"You want to beat me up?" Jon asked, facing off Rico.

Rico laughed, "I would not need to even break a sweat, boy."

There were giggles in the shop attendant's corner.

Jon knew that Rico was right. Although Jon was not puny or small in size he was not a match for Rico.  Rico was made of pure muscles. He looked like who spent days in the gym.

The bell tinkered and an elegant woman stepped in, breaking up the two men and making the shop attendants snap to attention so as to attend to the 'worthy' customer.

The woman gave Jon a very long look before she scoffed slightly and turned to the attendant assigned to her.

Jon faced the young attendant who still stood uncomfortably watching all the previous events unfold before her.

Jon clenched his jaws and his fist was closed tight as he determined deep in his heart that he was going to make them all regret everything they were doing.

"WELL, WHAT DID you decide, sir?" The salesgirl assigned to Jon drew his attention away from his thoughts of revenge. "Sorry, yes yes." Jon said, rubbing his temple, "What was it you said, again?""I was saying that the things you picked are limited editions from the designer. Are you sure you want to buy them?""Yes. I am." Jon said, nodding his head. "Okay, sir." The sales girl said. She came out from behind the counter to get the items Jon had picked. On a normal day, with a normal customer and any other salesgirl, it should be another free salesperson – most likely her – that would be sent to fetch the items for the attending salesperson. But she wanted to avoid any other outburst from her colleagues so she went to get the items by herself. She picked up the LV bag and Channel perfume from their respective showcases and walked back behind the counter. Kim and her boyfriend, Rico, looked on with interest as the sales girl dropped the items on the counter and asked, "How do you w

THE GIRL, Yen, was so excited she vibrated in a spot like a pressurised bottle. "Thank you, sir." She said to Mister Marcus, her boss and then she turned to Jon, "Thank you, sir." "It's fine. Just keep on doing what you do." Jon said, his respect and fondness for Mister Marcus rose a notch higher. "Now, can you lead me to the suits section?" "Of Course sir. If you'll follow me." Jon followed her down the row of different designer clothes and shoes till they got to a medium-sized round room, filled with expensive suits. Jon could not believe his eyes. He had trouble picking the one that he likes. He fingered the material of the ones that caught his fancy. "Sir, may I talk?" Yen piped from the doorway. Jon looked at her and nodded. "This one," She walked forward and touched a light blue suit with a gold pocket clock attached at the left side and hung in a gentle curve to the right. "It would look good on you." Jon looked at it in a different light and decided that the girl was r

JON SMILED AND shook his head. Chris bent over and placed his hands on his knees and laughed loud and long. Then he stood up straight, still chuckling and said, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He tried to regain his composure as Jon and Amanda looked on. "What's the matter?" Jon asked, a smug smile plastered to his lips. "I mean, we can all clearly see that," Chris said. "That is a big fake." He looked at Amanda who was still caressing the bag gently with her fingers, "It looks pretty like an original to me. It even feels original." "It's a good fake." Chris argued, "You know how much an original designer item costs?" "Yes, Chris." Amanda deadpanned Chris with a killer stare, "I do know how much a Louis Vuitton original cost." "Y-yes y-yes. I didn't, um, m-mean that question to you." Chris stammered, "I was talking about him. How would he afford it?" "I don't know. But I am glad he brought it –" Her hands had touched a piece of paper. JON STOOD IN THE road, waiting and looking out for any signs of the limo. He constantly rubbed his palms together and blew into them from his mouth to keep them warm. The sun was just beginning to set and from his watch, he could see that he was been waiting for almost an hour. He was just about to turn and return to the party when a voice called at him. "Oi, Jon!" He groaned even before he looked at the person. "Kim!" He nodded at her in acknowledgement, "I was just going back to the party." "Did you think about what I said earlier on before those moron friends of yours came in the way and interrupted us?" She asked. "I didn't think of anything you said, Kim." Jon snapped. "We are done and done for good… and you can go to the police about any whimsy story that you can come up with.""Oh, is that so, huh?" Kim asked. "Yeah…" The silky sound of an expensive car engine drifted to them as a limousine approached. They both turned to look at it. Jon saw the bulky figure of Peterson

"You were with us till about 6 years old." Jon shook his head and took a step back. "So those were not my imaginations… they are real." "Sure, Jonathan." Stefan said, "They are." "My mother? Where is she?" Jon asked. Stefan sighed and said, "Sit down, Jonathan." He gestured to a lush sofa by the corner. "Where is she?" Jon repeated, not moving from where he stood. "She died, son." Stefan sighed. Jon stiffened. Stefan held him by the arm and led him to the couch. Jon sat limply on the couch. Stefan poured more whiskey into Jon's glass. "Drink up." He sat heavily beside his son and handed Jon a little paper. Jon collected it and saw that it was a little picture of a pretty woman. "I got her cheekbones." Stefan snorted. "Like hell. You got her whole face. The only I gave you is your stature." "Can I k

The limo would be here soon." Jon said. "Did he just say limo?" Paxton yelled. "I think he did." A gentle horn sounded outside. "Yep," Jon said. "Come on boys. Our limo is here." They cheered and walked out and into their amazing ride. THE PARTY WAS already in full swing when they got there, so there were surely a lot of eyes on them when the limo pulled over and the young men stepped out, looking elegant and expensively dressed. The crowd seemed to part to let the men walk by and into the main hall. "Oh damn," Paxton muttered. "This party is wild.""Come on. Let's play it chill." He looked up and saw that the leader of the SUV men had gotten to the bar and was starting to engage Paxton in a conversation. "Shit!" "Come here!" A hand clamped on Jon's wrist and twisted him. He turned and reflexively punched hard at whatever he could find – which turned out to be the man's throat. The man released Jon and clutched at his throat. "HOW ARE YOU feeling today?" Jon asked as they left the hospital. His hand was around Nicole's waist, supporting her as they walked out with her nurse in tow. "A lot better," Nicole smiled. "That room was starting to feel a little crampy." Jon chuckled. "There is a lot of space where you are going now." Nicole smiled. They got into the waiting limousine and Jon's driver pulled out of the parking lot. It had been a week since Maxim fled for Russia and things had been relatively quiet. There were no talks about assassins or attempted murders anymore. For Jon, the only annoying part was Antonio Orsatti, strutting around like a peacock. He had to do something about him. But what? He asked himself. "What are you thinking about?" Nicole's voice drew Jon back to the present. He shook his head. "Nothing, nothing. I'm excited you are coming home with me." There was a loud whine of an engine behind him. He turned to see a Porsche squeal into the parking lot some yards away from him. He turned to see Antonio get out of the car. He flipped a loose strand of his long hair behind his ear. He put on sunshades and then walked into the hospital. Jon was in awe of what Antonio was doing here. "What the fuck?" Jon muttered under his breath. "When did they even release him?" He asked himself. He wanted to follow Antonio and confront him about what he was doing here, but he decided to wait it out and see how it played out. He did not have to wait for long because, after a few minutes, he saw Antonio coming back out. Jon opened his car door and folded himself out. Antonio was taken aback for half a second when he saw Jon standing in the parking lot. He looked hesitant to approach Jon bu

THE MANSION WAS lit up with sirens the following morning. A servant tapped on Jon's door to wake him up. He brushed his teeth, washed his face, and went down in his pajamas. Alex Brandon and Mirtovic stood in his grand foyer. He stepped out just at the same time as Vincent, who was a little more formally dressed than Jon. "Head director," Vincent nodded at Mitrovic, and then he turned to Brandon, "Head director," he nodded again. "To what do I owe this surprise?" Jon asked dryly. Lucas came out of his suite and eyed the men. If looks could kill, both Mitrovic and Alex would have dropped dead. "Have a seat and drinks maybe," Mitrovic said. Jon snorted and led them into the study room. Lucas poured out 5 glasses of Whiskey. Vincent declined his, "A little too early for alcohol. Don't you think?" Jon nodded in agreement. He collected the glass from Lucas but did not drink it. "What do you have to tell us?" Mitrovic took a drink from his cup before saying, "News just got to us.

He paced the small room and massaged his eye socket. "You should call Vincent," Lucas said. Jon stopped and looked at Lucas like he was about to argue. But then he nodded again, "I will. What were the charges against you? Why did they bring you in?"Lucas scoffed. "Did they need to have a reason?" He asked back. "I saw the way the Brandon guy looked at me that first time, he wanted to bring me in from there." Jon didn't have anything to say to that. So he sighed and said, "I am going to get you out of here." Lucas nodded as Jon left the room. He got back into his car and sped out of the parking lot. His mind was spinning as he drove into the mansion. H

Maxim had been in the kitchen, making himself breakfast when he received a text from his contact saying that there was a big arrest of a Russian coming the next day, all the bosses in the head offices were riled up and prepared. That was all the heads up that Maxim needed. He tossed the eggs into the trash can and left the house without even parking a bag. Just his car key and the clothes on his body. He hopped into his G-wagon and drove gently – He didn't overspeed. Nothing to catch their attention – to the airport. He told his pilot to take a one way flight to Russia immediately but that was not possible. The pilot had told him that the fuel wouldn't carry them nonstop, so they had to make a stop in France to refuel, before making the last half of the journey. That sounded fine. IT WAS ALMOST a week since Jon went to see Mitrovic with the evidence. The past week has moved in a blur and it had been relatively calm. There was no assassination attempt, no faked accident.
