SHE RETURNED THE kiss with equal fervour. Jon felt her hand circle his neck to pull him closer and his hand went around her waist to draw her closer too. He felt different bursts of emotions inside his body as Nicole's tongue darted quickly into his mouth and made contact with his. The sharp ring of her phone made them pull apart quickly. Jon cleared his throat and looked away, unable to meet her eyes as she picked up the call. "Hello Mom," She said into the phone. There was a pause as she listened and then she said, "Hmm, yes yes, I am in Illinois," another pause. "I was going to come through, I just had to –" Her mother interrupted. Jon could not hear what was being said on the other side. Nicole sighed, "Yes, mother. I am going to drop by for dinner," She turned and looked at Jon. Jon, knowing that look on Nicole's face mouthed, "No. No," She smiled and said on the phone, "Mom, will you mind if I bring someone?" A pause. "Yes, yes. It is a man and no, he is not a nobody." Ano

"YOU KNOW HIM," Nicole muttered. "Who doesn't?" The big man snorted. "The son of Stefan Stone. I am sorry about your Dad, by the way." He did not offer his hand for a handshake and neither did Jon offer his. They simply stared daggers at each other. It was Nicole's mother that tried to diffuse the tension. She said, "Welcome to our home, Mr Stone," she smiled widely, "I see you've met Nicole. I am Patricia," Jon nodded, "Thank you for having me, ma'am." Claude Bishop snorted and waved his hands for them to sit down. He sat at the head of the table, with his wife by his side. Nicole and Jon sat side by side. Claude waved his hand again and some uniformed servants filed in and started serving them their dishes. Jon watched on without saying anything. They could have just taken their meals by themselves. But they seemed used to this already. Claude held his goblet out for a servant to fill it with wine while his wife, Patricia, was tucking in a napkin over her scrawny neck. A serv

"WE SHOULD GET out of bed," Jon said lazily but made no move to stand up. Nicole nodded and cuddled closer. They had spent the night in each other's arms. Exploring each other's bodies. "You should call your Dad," Jon muttered into her hair. He was only just realizing how thick the hair was. "You don't mean that," Nicole said. Jon propped himself on an elbow and looked down at her, "There were some moments that I wanted nothing more than to stay out of my father's life. Especially the time he didn't want to tell me about what happened with my mother. I wanted to yell and scream in frustration at him. I iced him out. But now, I want nothing more than to talk with him." He said sadly. Nicole propped up too, "What would you want to talk about with him?" Jon sighed, "You." He said, "He was wrong about you." "So wait. Let me get this straight. You just want to talk to your father, just to rub how wrong he was, his face?" Nicole asked. Jon chuckled, "When you put it like that, it

VITTORIO HAD NO idea that his life was numbered as he smiled and went about his regular routine of his day. No, cancel that. He knew his life was numbered. He knew that he had a number of old age illnesses that threatened to take him anytime, but his mind was put somewhat at rest, knowing that his grandson, Leonardo, was there to take up his legacy when he was gone. He knew that he did not have more than 2 years to live due to one of the illnesses that a doctor abroad had told him about. He did not care for the name or what particular doctor had diagnosed it. He was still strong, he did not need help to stand or clothe himself, and he was not bedridden. He considered himself to be in pretty good shape for a man of almost one hundred years old. He stopped a bit as he stood up from his chair near the fireplace and went to the wine tray to pour himself a glass of scotch. "Should you be drinking that?" Leonardo asked gruffly walking into the room. Vittorio scoffed and sat down heavil

He asked.Vittorio grunted a reply that Leonardo took as a positive and then he started the car and drove out of the estate carefully. His eyes frequently darted to his grandfather through the rearview mirror. "Are you alright, Papi?" He asked. Vittorio nodded. "I got reports that a Russian flew into New Jersey today," Leonardo said. Vittorio scoffed and said, "Thousands, if not millions of Russians fly into New Jersey every day, Leonardo." Leonardo did not say anything to reply to that, instead, he said, "His name is Boris Shmanov. I got word out for him on the street already." Vittorio sighed, he was inwardly glad that Leonardo had an Instinct and was smart enough to follow it. He unrolled an Egyptian premium cigar and put it on his lip without lighting it. Leonardo noted the cigar on his

After spending almost 5 minutes on the call with promises to come to visit again (with the nice, beautiful lady), he ended the call and began packing his things as Nicole finished booking his flight. They showered and she offered to drop him at the airport, he nodded absently and followed her downstairs to check out and got into her Ford SUV."Who do you think is responsible?" Nicole asked. They were doing 60 miles per hour on the I-60 highway. Jon shrugged and rubbed his eye sockets, "I have no idea," He said. "But you know that eyes will be on you. You will be the primary suspect," Nicole said. She expertly overtook a car before continuing, "The hate between the Orsattis and your family was not secret. MAYBE IT WAS just his imagination or his mind was trying to play games with him but as soon as the plane entered New Jersey's airspace, Jon felt a queasy feeling in his abdomen. He stilled the feeling that made his tummy swirl and asked an air hostess for a bottle of champagne. He used the drink to calm his nerves. But when the plane landed and he got out, he immediately felt something like electric tension in the air. It made the hair on the back of his neck and his arms stand. Ignoring the feeling that he was being watched, he put on his dark sunshades and walked down the stairs, accompanied by the other few people who flew first class. Luke, his driver, drove to his front with a black SUV and stopped. He jumped out and held the door open for Jon to get it. "How's it going, Luke?" Jon asked as it got in. Luke bowed and gently closed the door before going around to the driver's seat. As he started the car, Jon asked, "How are things over there at home?" Luke put the car into g

He sighed and said, "Of course. I have to.""What?"Jon ran his hand through his hair, making the back end stand on end, "I don't have much choice now, do I?" He dropped the letter on the table in front of Rick who reached forward and read through. Jon poured himself another glass of scotch and took a drink before saying, "If I don't respect the invite, It will look like I have something to hide. The police would pounce on that." Lucas, who had been quiet nodded and grunted, "I don't like it one bit, but I'm afraid that Jonathan is right. He has to accept the invitation." Paxton and Rick scoffed. Rick tossed the letter on the table and gulped down his drink. "Bullshit." "And you can't go there alone…" Lucas continued, "That's why I am coming with you." CHAPTER 138
"HOW ARE YOU feeling today?" Jon asked as they left the hospital. His hand was around Nicole's waist, supporting her as they walked out with her nurse in tow. "A lot better," Nicole smiled. "That room was starting to feel a little crampy." Jon chuckled. "There is a lot of space where you are going now." Nicole smiled. They got into the waiting limousine and Jon's driver pulled out of the parking lot. It had been a week since Maxim fled for Russia and things had been relatively quiet. There were no talks about assassins or attempted murders anymore. For Jon, the only annoying part was Antonio Orsatti, strutting around like a peacock. He had to do something about him. But what? He asked himself. "What are you thinking about?" Nicole's voice drew Jon back to the present. He shook his head. "Nothing, nothing. I'm excited you are coming home with me." Nicole gave him a knowing smile and said. "Maxim is behind us now."Jon coughed out a laugh. "Why said anything about Maxim?" He as

JON DROVE TO the hospital parked, at the end of the lot and sat in the car, taking deep breaths and calming himself. He ran his hands over the steering wheel. There was a loud whine of an engine behind him. He turned to see a Porsche squeal into the parking lot some yards away from him. He turned to see Antonio get out of the car. He flipped a loose strand of his long hair behind his ear. He put on sunshades and then walked into the hospital. Jon was in awe of what Antonio was doing here. "What the fuck?" Jon muttered under his breath. "When did they even release him?" He asked himself. He wanted to follow Antonio and confront him about what he was doing here, but he decided to wait it out and see how it played out. He did not have to wait for long because, after a few minutes, he saw Antonio coming back out. Jon opened his car door and folded himself out. Antonio was taken aback for half a second when he saw Jon standing in the parking lot. He looked hesitant to approach Jon bu

THE MANSION WAS lit up with sirens the following morning. A servant tapped on Jon's door to wake him up. He brushed his teeth, washed his face, and went down in his pajamas. Alex Brandon and Mirtovic stood in his grand foyer. He stepped out just at the same time as Vincent, who was a little more formally dressed than Jon. "Head director," Vincent nodded at Mitrovic, and then he turned to Brandon, "Head director," he nodded again. "To what do I owe this surprise?" Jon asked dryly. Lucas came out of his suite and eyed the men. If looks could kill, both Mitrovic and Alex would have dropped dead. "Have a seat and drinks maybe," Mitrovic said. Jon snorted and led them into the study room. Lucas poured out 5 glasses of Whiskey. Vincent declined his, "A little too early for alcohol. Don't you think?" Jon nodded in agreement. "YOU CAN GO in now, Mister Stone." Jon stood up and gave a small nod at the FBI agents who had spoken to him. He walked into the room to see Lucas seated. Lucas looked up and gave a smile that did not reach his eyes. "I told you something would happen," Lucas said when Jon came in. "They screwed it up, didn't they?" Jon nodded. He paced the small room and massaged his eye socket. "You should call Vincent," Lucas said. Jon stopped and looked at Lucas like he was about to argue. But then he nodded again, "I will. What were the charges against you? Why did they bring you in?"Lucas scoffed. "Did they need to have a reason?" He asked back. "I saw the way the Brandon guy looked at me that first time, he wanted to bring me in from there." Jon didn't have anything to say to that. So he sighed and said, "I am going to get you out of here." Lucas nodded as Jon left the room. He got back into his car and sped out of the parking lot. His mind was spinning as he drove into the mansion. H

CHAPTER 134
IT WAS ONE importance of having numerous contacts in every area of the world. One of his contacts had informed him of the incoming arrest. Maxim had been in the kitchen, making himself breakfast when he received a text from his contact saying that there was a big arrest of a Russian coming the next day, all the bosses in the head offices were riled up and prepared. That was all the heads up that Maxim needed. He tossed the eggs into the trash can and left the house without even parking a bag. Just his car key and the clothes on his body. He hopped into his G-wagon and drove gently – He didn't overspeed. Nothing to catch their attention – to the airport. He told his pilot to take a one way flight to Russia immediately but that was not possible. The pilot had told him that the fuel wouldn't carry them nonstop, so they had to make a stop in France to refuel, before making the last half of the journey. That sounded fine. He just wanted to be out of New Jersey when the FBI came knockin

JON HAD A very short night. He woke up 3 hours after he closed his eyes, and his eyes remained open. After lying prone for a long time, he turned and glanced at the bedside clock. It was 6 a.m. "I might as well prepare for my flight back to New Jersey," He muttered as he threw the covers back and swung his leg over the edge of the bed. He grunted to his feet and went to the bathroom. He stepped into the cold shower to wake him up for the morning. After washing up, he headed downstairs where the maids were already setting the table. Vincent had told them last night that the big boss was going to leave very early the following morning, so they had to wake early to make sure he is well taken care of.Jon took a seat at the dining table and nodded as his meal was served. After a few minutes, Jon asked, "Are they going in hot?" Vincent nodded, "Frok what he told me, They've got the FBI and Interpol with them. I don't see any way Maxim Ivanov would escape his arrest." He cleared his throat and said, "She said she's from the NBC news station. They want to run a story on you." Jon was surprised. "Me?" He asked. Oliver nodded. "Personally, I don't like the media. IT WAS ALMOST a week since Jon went to see Mitrovic with the evidence. The past week has moved in a blur and it had been relatively calm. There was no assassination attempt, no faked accident.
