“No, he needs to prove himself; how am I sure that he could treat my grandfather? I don’t want to take any chances,” Emily complained, gazing at Nathan with distrust in her eyes.
Nathan moved closer to Emily, gazing into her eyes. “As you wish,” he said calmly.
Suddenly, Emily started to lose control over her body as she moved away from Nathan. She tried to scream but realized that she couldn’t say anything as her lips were also sealed. Nathan was the one who cast the spell over her; he used his mind and hands to cast the spell; he was controlling her like a marionette.
Gwen noticed that Emily was not talking and was moving back as she wondered what was going on. She looked at Nathan and noticed the hand signs he was making as she realized that Nathan was the one controlling her.
“What are you doing to my sister? Let her..." Before she could finish her statement, Nathan cut her off.
“Look, this is for you and your family’s own good. Your sister is only going to get in the way of your grandfather’s treatment; let’s not pay her any mind. I will free her from my control once I am done curing your grandfather, but after I am done curing him, I will need a favor from the Smith family. Is that okay?” Nathan had a lot of determination in his eyes.
“Okay, I will grant you that; get on with the treatment,” she responded. Although she was concerned for her sister’s wellbeing, she knew that Emily was hindering the process as she let Nathan get on with the treatment.
“I want you to promise me that you will grant me a favor from the Smith family, and it would be anything I want, no questions asked." Nathan wanted to make sure that he was getting her word and not just her replying to him out of desperation to save her grandfather.
“I promise you, I will grant you any favor you ask for; you just have to save my grandfather’s life,” she answered with a lot of assurance in her tone. Nathan was glad that he got her word.
He went over to the bed and started looking at the old man from head to toe, as he was first doing a visual scan of what might be wrong with him. Nathan examined his body as he noticed that the blood flow in Old Smith’s body was strange and realized that he had been poisoned.
He turned to look at Gwen. “He has been poisoned,” he said calmly. Her eyes and mouth opened wide; she was thunderstruck by the information.
“What! How is that even possible?” She asked in a rumbling tone as her voice echoed throughout the ward.
“I don’t know, but the old man’s strength won’t be able to support him in any radical treatment; if I try anything, he might die,” he answered. He was certain that the man could not survive a form of normal treatment that could be used to remove the poison from his system.
“Oh my God! What can you do to save him? Please do anything; don’t let my grandfather die."Gwen begged with a lot of desperation as tears welled up in her eyes.
Nathan started thinking of the possible things he could do to save the old man’s life when an idea came to his mind that he could cast a semi-immortal spell that could save his life and remove the poison from his system. He really wanted to save her grandfather because he needed the favor from them. He wanted to use that to get to the bottom of who killed his parents.
“Move back,” he told Gwen, and she shifted back from the bed. He didn’t want to let her know about the spell that he wanted to cast to save his life, but he knew she would know that he was casting a spell.
Nathan started waving hand signs and saying enchantment words as a white ray of light started to shine on old man Smith’s body. Everything was visible to Gwen as her mouth was wide open. She was stunned by what Nathan was doing. Nathan cast another spell that placed a circle around the body of the old man. He wanted to protect his soul and didn’t want him to become completely immortal; he just wanted him to be semi-immortal so that he would be able to live and kill the poison in his body.
After he was done with the spell, old man Smith was no longer in pain, as he was relaxed on the bed. Gwen’s eyes sparkled with hope, seeing that her grandfather was no longer in extreme pain.
“Wow, is he out of danger now?” She asked curiously.
“Yes, your grandfather is going to be fine now; the poison will die soon,” he answered. The white ray of light was still shining on his body, and the circle was still around his body. Nathan turned to look at Emily as he undone the spell that he had cast to control her.
Although she was under that spell, she was aware of everything that was going on and how Nathan had saved her grandfather’s life, so she didn’t want to complain about what Nathan had done to her.
“No one should destroy the formation on your grandfather in half an hour; by then he will be completely healed, and everything will be normal,” he said in a rumbling tone, making sure that Gwen and Emily heard him clearly.
Gwen and Emily were happy to hear that as they stood at the side of the bed looking at the magical formation, something they had never seen before in their lives.
Gwen wondered what type of Doctor Nathan was and whether he was a sorcerer with the type of magic that he possessed.
“I need to use the restroom; I will be back; make sure no one comes near the formation,” Nathan warned as he went out of the ward.
***
Suddenly, a large group of doctors, all dressed in white lab coats, entered the ward, led by Chief Doctor Floyd Hamilton, the most experienced physician in the hospital and the top doctor in all of Beloberg.
They approached Gwen and Emily, and Floyd Hamilton introduced himself to them as the chief doctor, explaining that he had come to save their grandfather's life.
Emily was impressed by Floyd's medical skills and reputation as the best doctor in the hospital.
"Please, start examining my grandfather," she pleaded.
Floyd walked over to Mr. Smith's bed, and the other doctors surrounded it. Floyd noticed the peculiar ray of light and circle around him and asked, "What is this magical formation around him? Who cast such a spell?"
He raised his hand, ready to disrupt the formation, when Gwen quickly grabbed his hand and exclaimed, "Stop!"
"Don't disrupt the formation. The doctor I brought, Nathan, has already completed my grandpa's treatment and advised us not to disturb the formation," Gwen explained.
Floyd responded, "This thing is useless. It won't save your grandfather's life. Nathan is deceiving you."
Gwen firmly defended Nathan, saying, "I'm telling you not to scatter the formation. Nathan is the most qualified doctor and magician I've ever met. He knows what he's doing. He's an expert at it." She firmly believed that Nathan had already saved her grandfather's life, and there was nothing Floyd could do.
Floyd questioned, "If he's such a powerful mage, why would he need doctors like us? Can he also treat himself?" He was frustrated by Gwen's comments and doubted the magical formation's effectiveness in saving Old Man Smith's life.
Emily intervened, saying, "Let Dr. Floyd examine Granddad and treat him. I think he knows what he's doing. He's more qualified than Nathan. I mean, Nathan couldn't even provide a license for his medical skills. How can we trust someone like that? Don't be stubborn, sis."Another doctor standing next to Floyd added, "Yeah, Dr. Floyd is the best in all of Beloberg. He's more qualified. If you don't want anything bad to happen to your grandfather, let him treat him."Gwen was torn, deep in thought, unsure of what to do. On one hand, she trusted that Nathan knew what he was doing, but on the other, she believed that Dr. Floyd was more qualified than Nathan. She struggled to make a decision. As Gwen pondered her options, Floyd placed his hand on old man Smith, causing half of the formation Nathan had laid down to disappear. Gwen tried to stop him, but it was too late, and he removed the entire formation.Floyd reassured her, "Don't worry, I'm more competent than that doctor you brought her
***Nathan and Gwen were in the back seat of her car, and her driver was driving them over to Nathan’s destination. Gwen felt that it was the least she could do since Nathan saved her grandfather’s life.“I am sorry for everything that happened back there; that stupid doctor came and destroyed your formation. When my grandfather was pronounced dead by that doctor, I thought you were the one who did it because the doctor was putting the blame on you, and I also believed it. I am sorry about that; I shouldn’t have doubted you,” she apologized calmly.“I don’t care about that; what matters is that I was able to save your grandfather just like I promised I would,” Nathan replied in a nonchalant tone. He was not there when they were passing the blame on him, so he didn’t care about anything that she was apologizing for.Hearing that Gwen took a liking to him, as she felt that Nathan was a genuine and good person who didn’t care about what others thought of him. She wanted to associate hers
Moments later, the Smith family bodyguards arrived at the spot where Reynold parked the car. They all came down from the car as Gwen and Nathan also came down.Gwen explained everything that was going on to the bodyguards as she told them that they should go back into their car and follow them from behind. After that, they all went into their respective cars as Reynold started the car and drove off. They arrived in front of a tall building that looked like it had been abandoned.Gwen looked at Reynold as she spoke boldly. “Get down from the car and walk into that alley over there."Reynold wondered why Gwen would ask him to walk into the alley when the attackers wanted him to bring her into the building.“Why should I walk into the alley?” Reynold turned to look at Gwen.“Don’t ask me stupid questions; just do as I said; once you get into the alley, call the attackers to come out."Reynold noticed that Gwen was trying to do things her way and that there was no need to question her as
The leader of the attackers was a bald man with thick muscles that could be seen through his black suit. He swaggered towards Gwen and Nathan, his steps echoing. His eyes beamed with a predatory glint as he looked at her up and down. "Well, well, what do we have here?" he sneered, his voice dripping with arrogance. "Gwen Smith, it’s nice to finally meet you. Come with us, sweetheart. Our boss has been wanting to meet you."Gwen's gaze met the gangsters with a mixture of disdain and defiance. She refused to be intimidated by them. She knew the strength that resided beside her as they were no match for Nathan or his magic powers. With a confident smirk, she replied, "I don't think I'm interested in meeting your boss. Besides, I've got all the company I need right here."“I won’t be asking for a third time; come with us to meet our boss,” the bald man said with his eyes flaring up.“I am not going anywhere with you guys; if your boss wants to see me, he should come here and see me himsel
As the cultivator and the bald gangster began their ominous introduction, the air in the alley became charged with oppressive energy. The black fog surrounding the cultivator seemed to twist with evil, casting a scary glow that accentuated the shadows dancing in the corners. The bald gangster, driven by a mix of fear and awe, shouted compliments about the cultivator's bravery. His words painted a gruesome tapestry of the cultivator's dark deeds – a tally of lives extinguished, a legacy built upon destruction. The alley echoed with tales of the cultivator's cruelty, and it became clear that the forthcoming threat surpassed anything Nathan had faced before.Gwen, caught in the midst of this revealing threat, felt a chill run down her spine. The cultivator's reputation seemed to lead him like a haunting threat, and the fear of the unknown gripped her. It was her first encounter with a force so powerful, and the realization that her body had been manipulated only moments ago increased her
Gwen, caught in the crossfire of power dynamics beyond her understanding, could only watch with anticipation.“You are nothing but a peanut in the cultivator’s eyes; get ready to die, Nathan,” the bald gangster said in a rumbling tone. The ominous black mist that cloaked the cultivator rushed forward, engulfing Nathan in a swirl of shadows. The bald gangster, expecting a display of ruthless power, continued to shout, his voice echoing through the alley, eager for Nathan's demise. Yet, in a surprising turn of events, the cultivator approached Nathan not as an aggressor but as a supplicant. As the mist disappeared, it revealed the cultivator kneeling before Nathan, and the bald gangster's victorious expression changed into one of disbelief. His shouts decreased into a stunned silence, the echoes of his proclamations hanging in the air like lingering specters. The alley, once charged with anticipation, was now quiet like a graveyard.Gwen, standing beside Nathan, shared the bald gangster
The tension in the alley reached a boiling point as the cultivator, desperate to end the situation, attempted to coerce Gwen into a drastic and unthinkable act. The air was thick with apprehension as he directed his energy towards her, intending to force her to take her own life. However, as the cultivator focused on manipulating the situation, he felt an inexplicable resistance in his own energy. It was as if an unseen force had frozen his abilities, rendering him incapable of wielding the power he sought to exert over Gwen. A perplexed frown etched across his face as he grappled with the unexpected impediment.Meanwhile, Gwen, with her finger on the trigger, felt intense pressure urging her to pull it. The unseen forces at play seemed to tug at her resolve, threatening to plunge her into a dire course of action. However, another force, seemingly protective in nature, controlled her finger, preventing her from succumbing to the cultivator's dark influence. The alley echoed with the s
Nathan, appreciating the strategic approach, agreed. "That works. Let's make sure we gather all the information we need to expose the truth and protect your family." Nathan could care less about protecting her family; he just wanted to get close enough to her to ensure that he found out if they were informed in his parents’ deaths.***In the dimly lit hospital ward, it was the hospital that old man Smith was at, and emotions hung heavy in the air.
