HIS RESURGENCE
CHAPTER 119
Xavier closed the documents he was looking over and shut down his computer. Who was he kidding? He wasn’t focused and had been reading a single page in the last thirty minutes. He hadn’t been himself since the argument with scarlet.
‘Should I call her? Where would she be right now? I hope she’s home.’ He thought to himself.
When she left, he sat down and evaluated everything she had said to him. She was right, and he had been wrong to accuse her like that without any concern for her feelings. He had hurt her and it was all because of his jealousy.
Yes, seeing them both together at the restaurant had angered him. He claimed that he did not have any feelings for her then why did it affect him like that? Who was he fooling?
He felt sorry for taking it out on her but he couldn’t call her right now. She probably wouldn’t pick up the phone.
His phone rang and he check
HIS RESURGENCE CHAPTER 120ASIAThe room was a small one with little ventilation. The only source of light in the room was a small opening in the wall that served as a window, but it was more or less like a peep hole, just enough to allow air enter the room so that the occupants would stay alive. That was where he had lived, for days which turned into weeks until he could no longer take it. He had to get out, had to find his way back home, back to his life where he lacked nothing. Here, he was a common beggar. He lived on the street and found his food in the trash. His home was that little room, along with others like him who had lost everything they had.No one knew him here in this small village and it was a miracle he was able to make it here. He had been smuggled by sea into the country weeks ago to begin a new life. His old one had been ruined beyond redemption, and the people behind it would pay dearly. He sat down in that little room one fine sunset, peeping through the little
HIS RESURGENCE CHAPTER 121Angelica Morgan White was the name boldlyWritten on the glass plaque that stood on her desk. The owner of the office was punching away on her computer, her attention fully focused. She was the CEO of Stellar couture, a fashion designing brand that was well known in London.A gentle tap on her door caused her to look up, her eyes leaving the designs she was sketching.“Ma’am.” Lucian called. “The private investigator is here to see you.”“Let him in.” She replied, trying to hide the excitement in her voice. She shut down her computer, knowing she wouldn’t be able to focus until she got the report she had been waiting for.“Detective Carson. Have a seat.” She said, motioning towards the chair across from her.“We found him.” He said sitting down. Her heart leapt. Finally, she had located her son after years of searching. “Where is he?” She asked.“He is in New York, and he’s now the owner of the Whitlock corporation, more like he bought it over.”“He wasn’t
His resurgence CHAPTER 122Lucian removed his glasses and wiped them clean from the sweat that had gathered. He was already exhausted and hungry but his boss showed no sign of giving up. He cleared his throat, wondering how he would start the near impossible process of convincing her to leave. He glanced over at her and saw that her eyes were still glued to the building, her gaze intense and he wondered if she even remembered to blink.“Ma’am your eyes are going to be sore if you don’t give it a rest. We’ve been here for over an hour. If anyone notices how long we’ve been parked here, we’ll be reported to the cops for sure.”She gave no heed to him and continued her staring contest with the building that housed Hernandez conglomerates. She needed to see her son once more before she could bring herself to leave.“This is stalking you know.” Lucian continued “we’ve been following him all day, I’m sure by now he must have noticed your car tailing him. You don’t want to scare him off do
HIS RESURGENCE CHAPTER 123Benjamin Whitlock adjusted his tie and smiled at his reflection. He looked really smart and the excitement on his face made him look young again. The phone call he had with his son replayed in his head and drew a slight chuckle from him. Finally, they were making a headway. Xavier had agreed to meet with him for dinner. They would have time to discuss and at least talk about the issues that had been left unsaid for several years.Their date was still an hour away but he wanted to leave on time to beat the traffic. He couldn’t afford to be even a second late.As he drove towards the restaurant, he met a light traffic and stopped his car. He hummed a tune that was playing on the car radio as he waited for it to clear out. He glanced sideways at the car that had stopped next to his and his breath caught. Was he seeing things? Was his mind playing tricks on him? It wasn’t possible. There was no way she was here. He never even thought she was still alive.“Angel
HIS RESURGENCE CHAPTER 124A splash of water on his face woke him up from his forced slumber. He felt a throb on his head and he shut his eyes again to calm himself. He looked towards the direction the splash had come from and saw a huge man standing there, small bowl in hand.“Wakey wakey.” He said, his voice hoarse and familiar.“Where—where am I?”“That’s not really important right now kid. What you should be worried about is where you will be if your mother doesn’t show up within the hour.”Xavier shook his head confused. His mother? What was he talking about? And who was he?“Marcus?” He called out, suddenly remembering why the voice sounded so familiar. The huge man laughed aloud and removed the face mask he wore. “I guess there’s no need for this then.”“What do you want with me? Why have you brought me here?”“Oh I don’t care about you little vermin. All I want is Angelica, and you’re my ticket to getting her, as it has always been.”“What are you talking about?” He asked, hi
HIS RESURGENCE CHAPTER 125The sky lit up for a second, spreading a flash of light over the deep darkness of the rainy night. The sound of thunder echoed in the night sky and birds fluttered to their nests at the sound. The tires schreeched in the wet floor as the car came to a sudden halt. She parked her car away from the building, not wanting to be seen, and carrying an umbrella, she headed for the empty building where he would be waiting after the task was done. She hid in a corner and waited, not making a sound. But her mind wasn’t as silent. Her heart pounded loudly in her chest and her body shivered, not from cold due to the heavy downpour, but from the thought of what she was about to do. She had no choice. She had to do it.Aurora didn’t believe Marcus for a minute. He did t sound convincing enough on the phone when he said he would kill Angelica. He had spent his whole life searching for her and never even bothered to get married and have a family of his own because his hea
HIS RESURGENCE CHAPTER 126 The clear blue sky was a sharp contrast to last night’s heavy downpour. It rained through the night and finally stopped just before dawn. Now there were no traces of gloom, only bright, clear skies with white lumps of cloud and happy birds flying whilst chirping loudly.Aurora slept peacefully last night. She made sure she came home and changed from her wet clothes before her husband returned. She took her time to wash herself and drown the memory of what she had just done under the warm shower.Clad in her silky nightgown, she slid into the bed and shut her eyes. Her mind refused to shut down at first. She kept doubting herself, asking if she had made the right decision to be rid of him.Surely, she had. Marcus was a lose canon and would have sooner exploded, destroying them both. It was a risk she didn’t want to take. She frowned when she realized how alone she was now. Marcus was the o my one who ever really had her back and supported her. Where was Be
HIS RESURGENCE CHAPTER 127Xavier laid back on his chair, his mind deep in thought. Heaps of documents scattered all over his desk but he hadn’t gotten around to looking through any one of them. He couldn’t concentrate. The events of last night ran through his mind. His mother, here in New York! After so many years, what could she possibly want with him.The pain he had had to go through growing up without a mother, having no one to console him when things went wrong-as they often did back then-, having no one to pour his heart to, he grew up not having anyone like that. He didn’t need her now. And Marcus. How did he end up dead? He got up from his chair and stood by the window that overlooked the city.Who was he going to see at that deserted building? From the tickets found at the scene, he was going to flee the city using a fake identity. His plan seemed foolproof. So who killed him? Did he have any more enemies? Was it someone he was working with?A gentle tap on the door broug
