Vivian returned home feeling provoked and disappointed; she walked past the maid, ignoring their greetings. Her mind was a mixture of anger and sadness. She was expecting to have a good conversation with Jack, but things didn’t go as planned. She was walking past when a hand gripped her from behind; she turned her gaze and saw her ex-boyfriend, Mike Weston. He gave her a romantic look, but she felt irritated by his presence.“What are you doing here, I thought I informed you it’s over between us. Jack stepped out of the car and ambled towards the building; he wore a casual outfit, a t,-shirt and jeans and sneakers to match the attire. When he walked into the house the first place he entered was his grandmother’s room. He knocked twice before the door was open from inside. “Good evening, Grandma.” He said with a grin. Grandma was surprised to see Jack; it’s been weeks since the two last saw each other face to face aside from Facetime or the calls they normally have. Jack engulfed her in a warm hug, she felt excited seeing her grandson. “Look at you, you are looking handsome as always. How are you doing?” She intoned. “I am fine grandma, and you.” “I am fine, Jack. Your Dad is back, hope you are aware.” Grandma said with her voice barely above a whisper. “Yes, Grandma. I am aware.” He replied, walking into the room. Vivian felt her hand throbbing, his words hit her. She knew it wasn’t going to be easy but she wouldn’t go home without expressing herself. “Jack, I know what I did was bad. I take the blame for it.” She said. Mr. Harrison’s gaze moved from Vivian to his son, Nelson and back to Vivian. He felt something was amiss, and he would need an explanation. “Can someone tell me what’s going on?” He abruptly questioned. She swallowed hard; she didn’t know how to spill out what happened without getting them upset. She was struggling with her words. Jack steps in, unfolding the truth. Everyone in the dining room was taken aback by what they just heard. Mr. Nelson stared at his daughter with his brow wide in disbelief. He felt angry but kept his cool; his daughter lied to him; she never informed him about what she did. “Why would you do that?” Mr. Harrison questioned, and now fathom why his son had been angry at her. “I am sorry, I didn’t mean for it to happen. Jack felt a flush of embarrassment, his cheeks warmed as he realised the delay he was causing. He drew a deep breath while trying to maintain his composure.“I am sorry; just give me a moment,” he said politely, with his frustration evident in his tone.“You don’t have money to pay for what you bought, what a shame.” Someone said from the background.“He is poor; he just wants to show off.” Another person said.Jack tried to refresh the bank application and then tried again. He could hear the murmuring from the people behind. He didn’t blame them, but himself for being careless. “If you don’t have money, you get out of here.” Another person sneered.A familiar figure came out from the crowd when she spotted Jack, she giggled uncontrollably as she took a few steps towards Jack. It was Anastasia, Clara Grant's best friend.“Why not tell everyone you can’t pay for it? Why claim you have the money when we know you are poor.”Jack tossed his gaze at the figure, who kept a smiling face. H

“I can see he is showing off, it should work or else he would be arrested.” Another person said. The salesperson kept a serious demeanor, as she began accessing the things bought by the other customers. When she was through with the last person, she raised her brow, taking a glance at Jack. “It’s worth $35,000 for everything.” “Okay,” he nods, turning to the two men who have been standing at the door making sarcastic statements. “Do you care for anything?” One of them nodded, while the other refused. “Take what you want.” He rushed into the store and got two sneakers. His friend shook his head. Then to his driver, who didn’t hesitate to pick two sneakers. “So how much in total?” “It’s $ 40,400.” Jack handed her his card, the customers who took things didn’t go as some stayed to know if he was truly going to make payment as he said. They watched him type in his pin. “Confirmed.” “Wow, he really did pay for it.” One of the customers said. “You kept your promise, thank you.”

“It’s nothing,” Jack said to Anna.“Why are you telling her it’s nothing? Why not tell her the truth that you stole someone else card to purchase sneakers just so you could impress her.” Anastasia blurted out.Jack shook his head in displeasure, his jaw tightening the only thing holding him from unleashing his wrath at them was the fact that they were women. “I can see you are still angry that you got humiliated; it wasn’t my fault that you couldn’t afford $6,700 to pay for what you bought, and you ended up leaving the store in shame. I can lend you money to get them, or better still, I can help you order for the same sneaker.” Jack said sarcastically with his brow raised.Anastasia felt embarrassed when she noticed the students whispering among themselves. She knew she had to do something, or Jack might end up making her look like a loser before the other students; Clara Grant narrowed her eyes at her friend.“I couldn’t pay because their machine wasn’t good. Mr. Nelson Sancho sighed softly, “I don’t know, but this is a big event; everyone will be there. He might as well be there,”Vivian raises her head, her eyes darting from her father to the ticket and back to her father. “Are you sure he is going to show up at the concert?” she asked with her voice barely above a whisper.Mr. Nelson Sancho exhaled heavily, “Yes, I am sure. He will make it to the event.” He replied, not knowing if he was right or wrong, but he just wanted his daughter to feel happy. “Then, I will go. I would love to see him again, and this time, I will make sure he forgives me and takes me as his girlfriend.”Mr Nelson Sancho nodded, “You will need to eat your food; you wouldn’t want him to see you look like this. It was the expected day for most students at Crestview University, the day they had long anticipated. Jack stood in front of the mirror staring at himself. He was perfectly dressed, in a black and Jean. He took out his phone as he made his way to the entrance of the building; Jack took a cab and made his way towards Anna's place.Meanwhile, Anna was in her room. She didn't know what to put on, knowing she had to look her best for the concert. After several back and forth selecting a dress, she finally took the sleek dark gown from the wardrobe which she wore and applied a light makeover on her face. She stared at her phone screen, waiting for Jack to call but nothing. “Is he going to like my dress,” she said to herself. Suddenly, her phone rang out. She turned to peering at the screen. Without hesitation, she answered the call. “I am outside your house waiting for you.” He said politely. “Alright, I will be there in a jiffy,” she replied before the line got dead.Anna stepped out
