35. Games
The warden and I stood in front of the mystery door on the second floor of Stone Lock’s main chamber, and to my annoyance she still had yet to tell me what was behind it.

“You’re certain that is your final answer?” she asked me with an obnoxious amount of teasing smugness.

“Yes, this goes to your room.”

“Would you like to make a wager?”

I narrowed my eyes at her. “No… you’re clearly trying to trick me somehow.”

Her shoulder thumped as she leaned against the wall. She crossed her arms and flashed me a challenging smile. “What makes you believe that? You seemed so sure on our way here from the library.”

She’s definitely got some kind of trick up her sleeve to make my guess wrong… or it really doesn’t go to her room and there’s some other door I haven’t seen yet somewhere.

“Call it a hunch…” I grumbled, continuing to see mischief in her dark eyes.

“Now, Bryan, isn’t it also possible I’m trying to shake your confidence because your answer is indeed correct?” she said encouragingly
